You'd definitely call up Jaap (uh...it's a Dutch name) at Yumi-Bows in rural Georgia and have a 'yumi' (i.e., Japanese bow) made of bamboo in an extremely authentic manner. (Yes, he really did construct all of the bows for the "Last Samurai"). Jaap makes bows for kyudo (a.k.a. Zen archery), hunting, beaver shots, or target practice. He also constructs bamboo arrows. His prices are much more reasonable than having one shipped over from Japan (he's even shipped bows over to Japanese customers). You don't need to be an actor to honestly show appreciation for the quality that Jaap puts into his work. Makes a great anniversary gift for the wife. Five stars.

Bass Pro Shops

This is a smaller Bass Pro Shop but still an enjoyable shopping experience. If you've never been to…read moreone, they have tons of outdoors supplies: hunting, fishing, camping, etc. Lots of sunglasses, fishing poles, tents, knives, crossbows, guns, and ammo to choose from. They have bigger items too like kayaks, canoes and boats. They also have a bunch of Black Rifle Company merch. I usually come here for ammo. They sometimes have buy one get one half price deals on it. The store is set up to look like a huge cabin. There's lots of wood. There are taxidermied animals. There is a huge fish tank in the back of the store. At Christmas time, they have a Santa for the kids to meet. Staff are super friendly and helpful, but every single one will try to get you to join their membership program. The only way into the program is the get a Bass Pro credit card. I got the card, and the $60 I got in store credit as part of the sign up deal was worth it to me.

So when I arrived after the Bass Pro was closed, I lined up next to a landscaping island in the parking lot and settled in. I was out early in the morning before they opened so I have no idea about the inside of the store. But for me, I'm a fan of Bass Pro thanks to their policy of tolerating overnight RV parking. First of all, the guide we were assigned showed up in the worst guide owned fishing boat I have ever seen. Seats were torn, the motor would not run above idle speed, the depth finder was broken, etc. In addition, the guide had not been on the lakes in years. The fishing itself was quite poor. This place is advertised as a "big fish factory". It's anything but. We caught no fish over 2 lbs and the majority were considerably less than that. Save your money. This is a very expensive trip which is definitely not worth the money.

Coming from Miami, a beach like this one is unlike anything I've seen before. It's not crazy full of people doing who knows how many things at once. In all honesty, I only wish I had brought a paper and pen with me. It was the type of scene that gave me inspiration to write.

Mind you, there is a limit on the size of craft and there are many types of boats , but the most fun is the snipe racing. I've sailed snipes on and off for my entire life and now have a 50 ft Benneteau in St Thomas, but the surreal calmness and serenity of sailing in a small sail boat in a shallow lake, moss laden trees along the shore is hard to Beat.
