Oh Beto Junction, you'll forever hold a special place in my heart as it pertains to highway rest stops. The first time I visited this truck stop was probably 14-15 years ago when I was at KU. One of my best friends would meet her parents here as a midway point between Lawrence and Neodesha where they lived. There's a little diner in this rest stop that honestly is pretty decent and has great pie. Upon that visit I found this place charming, warm, and a nice little spot in an otherwise remote area. The next memorable time I stopped here I was driving back to KC from my friend's parents home in SEK, when I happened upon the worst snowstorm I've ever driven in. It was whiteout conditions, I was driving a really old Camry and was pretty young (in my twenties), so when I made it here I pulled over to wait out the worst of it and you know, calm myself down with some pie. Nowadays, I use this rest stop as a midway point break whenever I make it to my sister's house in Wichita. I haven't eaten here since the stow storm I found myself in a decade ago, but I have purchased snacks here, interacted with staff, and used the restrooms countless times. I think a decade ago this place was four stars - everything seemed well maintained and it was just newer so it all was a bit nicer. Nowadays, while the restaurant is still there, along with the impressive rotating case of pies, the rest stop area feels a bit dated and ho hum. It gets the job done though. The restrooms while not the cleanest on the highway are just fine, and there's never a wait. My only real qualm with this place is how poorly staffed it has been in recent years. Even though I'm often one of maybe three people in the entire rest stop, I am always waiting in a line to check out an it's slow. The folks working tend to seem bothered by you being there, and are often not helpful which is kind of a downer as well. The last time, I was getting a few waters and a juice, and I literally waited for ten minutes for someone to even show up so I COULD pay. In many ways this is a place that would be well serviced by an auto check out feature. At any rate, I'll keep stopping here. It's A-OK as Yelp would say, and I have a feeling it'll be around for another decade or so. read more

This is NOT about a recent experience. In 1987 I stopped here for a bIte and a nap. In the restaurant the lady had home made Black berry deep dish pies. I had a piece, then another! When I got up, I went in and had one for breakfast! The place is now a chain truck stop, and I doubt I would pull in unless I needed fuel. I hate what the big chains have done to the old truck stops. read more

Super nice staff, good selection of products, and extremely clean restrooms- always a plus when on a road trip!! Apparently there's a restaurant here but we were just passing through and grabbed some snacks & drinks. Similar to Quik Trip- high praise! read more

Ok - so we were a little leary after the past couple of breakfast locations we have stop at. We took a gamble because our stomachs couldn't wait for the next city. This was a pleasant surprise. The CFS with eggs was the bomb!!! Real CFS with actual batter and for tender cube steak. Excellently seasoned and not greasy at all. We saw that they had a full buffet for lunch - it looked tasty as well. read more

The bathrooms are nice and really clean. I wouldn't eat here In their restaurant again. The portion was pitiful for the cost and it really didn't have much flavor. And like others said if you order off menu it takes for ever to get your food. Just stick to the buffet. The server was nice at least. Restaurant is 2 stars but restrooms and store I would give 4. So it's a solid 3. read more

What a nice surprise this place was! After so many disappointing, dirty, expensive and dangerous truck-stops, it was such a relief to come to a place that was clean, friendly, had good food and exceptionally great showers. The staff at this place was phenomenal. We bought a shower and when the (manager?) found out that we had not been placed into a "family shower", she was overly-apologetic and promised us a FREE "family shower" the next time we stopped by. Even though we didn't get a huge shower, the one we did have was very well cleaned, had great water pressure and temperature and nice, big towels. The restaurant was also wonderful. We got the buffet and had some of the best fried chicken and steak I've ever had. Cherry cobbler for dessert, FRESH brewed tea and a 19$ bill really made this place different. Really great place. Stop by, have a shower, buy some Kansas souvenirs and eat at the deliciously cheap and excellent restaurant! read more

Amazing service from Angie, our food was fresh hot and delicious. Homemade toast spot on. So clean it was unbelievable. This is an absolute if you are passing through. Also a nice visit from the Blue Stem Chapel gentleman. read more

We stopped in for a late breakfast yesterday morning, and it was pretty good. I had steak and eggs. Our waitress was very good and had a very high pitched voice which was mostly kind of endearing. The place seemed not busy at all, and not sure why. It used to be very crowded all the time. The rest rooms were clean. Basically, everything was very good. read more

Stopped to ride out a nasty storm. Clean store, clean bathrooms. Staff in restaurant was a little slow to take our coffee order. Oh well.

Stopped twice to fill up the car. The station is tidy. I did not enter the restaurant. The gasoline price was $1.99 a gallon, which is an excellent price. Place is also a truck stop and a Wendy's. read more

Honestly i used to drive over the road and the food was decent. now its another story. We stopped there on Friday nite on table was a special offer menu on wire rack 10.99 fish etc. well my wife gets the buffet thinking it was the fish buffet like special menu said nope it was all u can eat fish only buffet was 14.99 for 3 meat items and salad bar. i got a chicken fried steak. It was size of ur fist if that thought it came with mash potatoes and a veg nope .. Ur choice of pot or veg ..my mistake i choose veg came out in a bowl size of a petree dish . It was 10.49 for chicken fried steak wasn't impressed at all . i know truckstops aren't know for cheap food but i feel raped .. We had to ask waitress for refills each time .. read more

Salad bar is good and healthy stocked, the Cajun white FIS was seasoned perfectly, stir fry veggies were still crunchy. Rest of the building spotless. Could use a bigger cooler area for more cold drinks. All in all, a good place. Plenty of truck parking. read more

We stopped coming here two years ago because the food went down hill. I was told that it was under new management a while back, so we went to breakfast there 3 weeks ago. The food and service were excellent. We went back today, and the service was horrible, and most of our food was cold, and we waited 35 minutes for her to bring it out. Our server was non-existent most of the time. I waited another 15 minutes to try and tell her that most of our food was cold, but she never came back. Finally just gave up, and put the money on the table and left. read more

My family has stopped by this restaurant for many years over Memorial Day weekend on a trip to my dad's home town. Today we were looking forward to the breakfast buffet. What a joke! Almost out of everything. The manager only came out to check on the buffet when people started complaining. He started bringing a few things out but with people waiting in line to get through the buffet, these replenished items were quickly gone. One of us waited 30 minutes before any gravy came out for the "biscuits and gravy." Pancakes were never replenished, and what was there looked to be several hours old. We asked to speak to the manager but he never came out. We told the trying to be helpful waitress that it was a rip-off. She went back and talked to the absent manager, who reduced the checks by half. Really, this was still not enough. They should have given us complimentary coffee and apologized profusely for their mess. read more

Terrible food. Extremely slow service. The pancakes are definitely not light and fluffy. More like a brick. The hash browns tasted like they were cooked in old fryer oil. Very poor selection and overpriced for what you get. When it is time to pay the check don't expect the cashier to take care of you promptly. We waited five minutes at the check out line before the cashier even showed up. Then she was so disorganized that it took forever for her to run our card. Not a good experience. i have eaten in this restaurant two times in the last couple of weeks. the restaurant is call country pride. on a wednesday night they were doing a pasta bar that was out of this world-shrimp, beef, chicken and all so much more. the buffet was an italian themed and it was very good. the man that was cooking the pastas was the manager and everyone was watching him like it was cooking show-very entertaining. he also mentioned that they did a stirfry bar on thursday night and omelette bar on sundays. then told us about the saturday buffet being bbq all day that peaked my interest. so my best gal and i decided to bring a couple and try the buffet on saturday. we came out about week and half later and omgoodness it was great and all you can eat. the ribs were tender, the brisket wonderful, and all the accompaniments. we had a great experience with management and staff-really good service. great value for the dollar. and dont get me started on their incredible cinnamon rolls you have to see them to believe them and they taste better than the look even. its a must stop read more
