We stopped here to get some food from Pizza Hut Express. At 8pm on a weekday night, they were completely out of all pizza. Granted, they only serve personal size pan pizzas, but still disappointing. This is my half way point between my house and my family house in Illinois. I enjoy stopping here because it's an easy on and off the expressway plus when I fill my gas tank and get snacks they last until my destination. I enjoy that they have bathrooms, showers, deli, restaurant, fastfood, and convenience store items all under One room. Generally a decent truck stop. Easy access from I-94, they stay busy with a steady flow of truckers seeking diesel fuel to continue their journey. Larger than a standard Pilot truck stop, they offer plenty of parking for the transient trucker. They have three bays available in the service department and can generally handle routine maintenance on big rigs. The store in the main building houses lots of convenience items, trucker supplies, a little gift Mook, a Verizon Wireless section, various fast food restaurants and a sit-down, full serve restaurant (Country Pride). They also offer showers, laundry facilities, and a lounge or two. Oh yeah, and gender specific restrooms. I generally bypass the fast food places, but have enjoyed all other aspects of this truck stop. A couple of times I have had the pleasure of getting work done on my big-rig at the repair shop. The pleasure part of the experience was my service technician, Kate. She is a recent addition to the service staff there and we'll above the average when it comes to work ethic and customer satisfaction. She seems to like her job and does great work. If you are traveling in Southwest Michigan, try to stop in for a break from your road trip. It should make for a memorable experience. read more

It turned out that this was a pretty safe place to spend some time in the middle of nowhere in a nice little SW Michigan village, close to Indiana. It was a good place to sleep and I didn't really get too much negative energy from anybody, not until the morning when I got some weirdness from a few employees. No biggie. Nobody woke me up and nobody gave me any hassle. Gas prices were fine and the store itself is pretty cool with some good spring water which I bought. I've eaten at both the BK and the Popeye's twice each, and both are some of the better examples of those two chains. And if Alice went in them with me, it'd be Alice In Chains. *** I wrote this review twice, lost track of what I'd done. Here's the other one: If you want a little T & A, this is the place to come. It's in Sawyer, and I think I Sawyer here one time! This is a pretty cool truck stop close to the border with Indiana that is right off of the highway and the great thing about this truck stop is that I've slept here a couple of times and had no issues whatsoever so I appreciate it. I think that little local truck stops are better, but I've given in to the chains because I like them, and sadly because the little old ones aren't really going to survive all this corporatization regardless. The big bright corporate ones make for a safe place to sleep and I appreciate that. AVOID! I rarely post reviews but this place has an intent to deceive and that pushed me over the edge. Gas area is crowded and disorganized. Store is OK. Food court is straight up TERRIBLE. The Taco Bell, owned and operated by TA (owners of the complex) charges over $4 for a taco and you cleverly cannot see the menu or prices until you're at the cash register to order. After paying $23 for my meal, each food item had something missing (e.g. no lettuce in the tacos...) Don't stop here. read more

Cleanest restrooms I have EVER seen in a gas station or truck stop. Hats off to Diana, a lady who takes pride in her work.

After a very bad experience in the fast food dining area I sought out some over priced coffee. Three of the four urns were empty and the last one maybe 1/8 full. No waiting in line. Employees chatting not paying much attention to the needs of customers. The attached pictures were from the dining area. Almost every table was not habitable! I certainly don't recommend stopping here. I bet they pay nearly slave wages too, just a guess. read more

Nice stop. Nice TA, on the older side. Friendly staff, clean enough ladies restroom considering how busy this place is. Cool eclectic stuff/souvenirs, etc. a lot to look at. Several places inside to eat. There's a Country Pride restaurant, a Pizza Hut, Popeyes Chicken, and a Burger King. Decided on BK. 10 piece nuggets, onion rings, and Coke. Just ok, nothing to write home about. The dipping sauce and the onion rings was the best part of my meal. Nuggets should of been hotter, lots of people there. It is what it is. It was something to eat. Still a better BK than most. They are usually either awesome, or just ok! A small meal at Popeyes was $13.00! What! That's just taking advantage in my opinion. Good friendly service at BK, both cashiers were nice. I would return but order something else, or ask them to cook it fresh. read more

After years of exhaustive searching I think I have finally found it. The most expensive Taco Bell in the United States. Where is this Taco Bell? Is it inside a movie theater? No. At a stadium? No. Is it in the heart of New York City? No. San Franscisco? No. The Loop in Chicago? Getting warmer. The most expensive Taco Bell in the United States is in a small rest area just inside the Michigan border on I-94. Maybe hyperbole, definitely unscientific, but I will stand by that statement until proven wrong. And the worst part is, it's a Taco Bell express. Not only will a bean burrito set you back $1.79, but it's one of only about 10 things on the menu. The Popeye's next door? $2.49 for six onion rings! There's a little thing called supply and demand, I know, and Indiana's lax health codes make this one of the first edible stops on a Chicago to Detroit trip. Just skip it, though. There are normal priced restaurants just up to road in places like Paw Paw. Three exits in a row just after 94 turns east have Taco Bells and Burger Kings like this TA. A Popeye's? You may, unfortunately, be a captive audience. This is, after all, southwestern Michigan. The TA gas station is a bit better. Like all of these, if you suddenly get the urge to buy a CB radio, check. New tires, check. Want a job as a trucker? A shower? A shower head replacement? I swear each Travel Center of America is its own city squeezed into a small gas station (wonder what the mayor gets paid). I should give myself a 1 because it's the second time I accidentally stopped here in the last year. I thought maybe it was Covid hangover when we stopped before but that excuse has expired. Place is still filthy with over flowing trash and an unplowed slushy dirty lot. Do not stop here for the fast food restaurants, even if they are open. My family split up and ordered different things. Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Burger King. 75% of the food was very poorly prepared and 100% was over priced. Basically take the normal price you would pay at any of those fast food places if you waited an exit or two down the road and increase the price by about 50%. Also, no value items and a limited menu. I can't believe they get away with it. I am the idiot who stopped twice, but I will never do it again. I guess they stay in business because they are on an interstate and get a good flow of first time unsuspecting travelers. read more

I used to be a loyal patron of this place. I would stop on my way out and back into Michigan. However, I have since noticed that this place is one of the more expensive gas stations off of I-94. On top of the prices, it also get super crowded with all the IL people who summer in New Buffalo/Lakeside/Sawyer. The bathrooms used to be stellar, but in light of the amount of foot traffic, it is a pee-only rest stop for me. My advice, If you can hold out, and refill in Coloma. That way you not only get cheaper gas and cleaner bathrooms, but you can also do a U-Pick or hit the Contessa or the Chocolate Garden. read more

Used the changing table for my 3 month old and it was its own little nook rather than just being in a stall. Surprising because the interior doesn't look old or in a particular state of disrepair..the taco bell/burger King seating area looked like it hadn't been cleaned or swept in days. Food prep place was clean looking, I suppose--better at least than the seating area. THEN I went to use the men's room. Holy hell. One of the toilets looked like someone had poured about 5 pounds of spoiled foodstuffs in it SEVERAL DAYS AGO. Floor again hadn't been swept in ages. Just ate at the Burger King in the fast food section and it was by far the worst food at a Burger King I've had anywhere in the world. After finishing my 13 salt sticks they called fries, I ate my mayo and bun sandwich only to find that the best part was the bun at the end that had nothing else on it or in between it. One pop machine was low on carbonation (there was even a sign) and the other didn't have syrup in 3 different kinds of pop..... Not only is this place as nasty and disgusting as the other reviews suggest, they practices shady business tactics. I was charged twice IDENTICALLY for the same over priced taco bell exactly 3 months apart. If they were trying to rip me off you'd think they would look at where the card is from(literally 3 hours away) and at least charge a different price. We just stopped for a bathroom break and the bathrooms were very clean and updated. They have the walk in style bathroom where you do not have to touch the handle to get out. They had soap and paper towels to dry. Very nice. read more

Shop people seem pretty good so far, I am over in the restaurant now, I asked how much a cup of coffee is while I wait for my truck to get done is, the lady said like $2.25 I can't believe how much they are charging for coffee, and wouldn't you know it I forgot my wallet in my truck, ok check my pockets I have $2.05 lol, I tell the lady and at first she said "I am paying for it" ok forget it then lol, she came back over and brought me some coffee after a bit and said "give me what you got." Alright so that is better so I give it 3 stars. This place is your average truck stop, I've seen worse for sure. But I think they should really be taking care of me while I wait. I mean I havn't gotten the bill yet but I know it's going to be at least $300 bucks, and I was going to fill my truck here as well, I am thinking at least 150 gallons @ $4.00 a gallon that's $900.00 and I am getting shit about being $.0.20 short for some coffee lol.
