I was recently impressed with their pre-made sandwiches in an oval refrigerated case at the SR23 location. The pricing was very good. The sandwiches looked great. I bought one. The cost of their doughnuts is odd. Nobody charges $1.29 a doughnut at grocery stores, not even in Scottsdale, AZ. I will buy 1 or 2 doughnuts. Never would buy a dozen. That's $15.50 for a dozen doughnuts. Maybe they give a 50 cent discount for a dozen. An example of their pricing. $4 for 4 ozs of alfalfa sprouts. That's $16 a pound for a veggie. Their smoked whitefish is $19 a pound. (I buy it on clearance.) There is a meat market where it is $10. I keep coming back for the sale prices. Their cashiers are good. Fast and generally friendly.

The gas prices are typical for the area, and the attached convenience store (Hazens One-Stop) is nice and clean. It has most of the usual impulse items people seek in addition to gas - such as cigarettes, candy, Lotto tickets, pop, snacks, and the like. Very handy. Inside the store there is a Subway outlet, so you can get a quick sandwich...and one that is generally much fresher than the fast-food I've-been-heated-all-day hotdog. A Subway inside the gas station store is a nifty idea. Also attached and on the other side of the building is a real sit-down Italian restaurant - Giannettos. Known for its take out pizza, the restaurant also has a dozen or so tables and a more extensive menu. So you can stop by and fill up your tank and get a pizza to go...very convenient. While this line up of gas, Subway, and pizza may seem incongruous, they make it work. Since this area, in general, and this corner (Cleveland and Capitol), in particular, have not yet been fully developed, these stores are ahead of the curve and ready and waiting for customers. This location is primo as they are within one mile of an entrance/exit (#83) to the Indiana tollway. Come give it a try.

My experience so far suggests that you should arrive by lunch, or they're out. This stuff is fresh, distinctive. I need to go even earlier to try the biscuits and gravy. I love finding these places, but I've been driving past it oblivious for years.

To be fair one of the employees looked like she was mopping in the back room so the order may have been lingering for the moment. My husband started to pump gas thinking it was $2.45 a gallon but he noticed at the pump it said $2.89 so he only put in $25 worth. We would not Have stopped here at all if I hadn't needed a bathroom stop.
