St. Jude Catholic Church is located in Mansfield, TX, offering daily and weekly mass for the…read morecommunity in a wonderful and welcoming setting. They have ample parking in front and on the side of the church. There is currently a project where they are raising funds to build a bigger parking lot in the future and have already broken ground for it. On Saturdays, they celebrate mass at 5 pm, and at 7pm its in Spanish. On Sundays mass is offered at 730 and 10 am. There is also a mass on Sundays at 1130 with no music. At 1pm on Sundays, the mass is offered in Spanish as well. As for the daily mass, it's offered Monday through Saturday at 830am. They also broadcast the mass on the radio where you can tune into 104.1 FM. Inside the cathedral is very beautiful, with ample seating and lots of rows. They also have 2 big screens where they provide lyrics of songs and daily readings of the scriptures and prayers. The Deacon and Father are very easygoing, and the homily they provide each mass are great to listen to and provide instruction for a great daily living in faith. Outside of the church, there are many statues of Saints, and they also have a nice waterfall in front of the church to gather around and admire the natural beauty of this Holy place. St Jude Catholic Church is a great place to attend mass with your family while strengthening the Catholic community. After mass on Sundays, usually at the 10 am. mass, they have breakfast items for sale or donation such as breakfast pastrys, coffee, and BLT'S.

Catholic mass in Vietnamese, for the non-Vietnamese speaker is quite an experience. Due to low literacy rates way back when, the mass is done in what could best be described as "in poetry form." I was told this made it easier to learn the mass, vs. just reciting (there does seem to be a lot of rhyming). This may not be the best choice of words, but it does sound quite a bit like chanting. Another interesting aspect is that the men tend to sit on the right and woman on the left. This again is from Vietnamese tradition, but it has softened a great deal here. But don't worry, no one will look at you funny if you sit on the wrong side (unless you have blond hair and blue eyes). Anyway, I can't really give less than 5 stars, it's a church after-all, but I do notice a consistent tendency for Vietnamese masses to last longer than an hour... I think it has to do with the priests liking to talk. So there you have it, my review for a Vietnamese Catholic Church.

What a breath of fresh air. The last Catholic church I went to is a very large church in Keller. While that church is large and beautiful, it lacks warmth. My favorite part of a Catholic mass is the "peace be with you" part. You can really get a feel for a church's soul at this time. There was true warmth from the other parishioners that shared this moment with me. After the Mass, as we gathered up our things (it was a cold night in FW), Father Jaison came by and spoke with. This furthered my appreciation of the smaller church. It's a warmth not experienced in larger churches. My only regret is that we do not live close enough to attend Mass here more often, but we most certainly try to visit again. Oh, a little about the church. It's very old. From the website: "The first Mass at St. Mary's was celebrated on May 4, 1909, in the small wooden building that constituted the first Church. After a fire destroyed that building in 1922, the present Church was constructed and the first Mass was celebrated on July 20, 1924. A jewel of Romanesque architecture, the new St. Mary's instantly became a prominent landmark on Magnolia Avenue and a center of worship, education and social activity for the near south side of Fort Worth. Initially, St. Mary's was under the care of priests of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians). In 1928, the Order of St. Benedict (Benedictines) began a ministry that was to last for half a century. Their tenure saw the development of Laneri High School (now Cassata Learning Center) and St. Mary's School, both staffed by Benedictines. The current rectory was constructed during that time. Priests of the Society of the Divine Savior (Salvatorians) staffed the parish from 1978 until 1982. That year the Society of Mary (Marianists) assumed pastoral care of the parish." Bottom line: While the Fort Worth Cathedral (St. Patrick) is a short distance away, given the choice, I would much rather celebrate mass here at St. Mary's.

It's been 22 years since I've been here! The last time, I came here was for my Cousin's Wedding…read more Praise the Lord, he's still married, atends Church regularly and is a Lector! The Church is beautiful! I love the Roman Architecture that includes three inviting arches with beautiful wooden doors. This Church is great for photos. The Holy Water greets you far more than the people who make up the Church. The entry way is large and the restrooms are located to the right or left as you walk in. They are camouflaged with the wooden panels. The Sanctuary is large and the Church has a lot of members. The Cantor sings beautifully. Her voice is very high and I love to see her lift her hands to the Lord with confidence. The Priest had a bit of an accent but, I was able to walk away with some wisdom. He spoke about the importance of loving our neighbor as ourself. He encouraged us to bless those who live in poverty and he also wants us to adopt a child. I loved seeing Church members show reverence to the Cross by bowing and lookup to the cross. The Church is filled with lots of families. The Church is peaceful and everyone keeps to themselves. Saint Maria Goretti offers a lot activities for the Church to get involved. some Calendar of Events include a Scripture Study, Adoration, Fellowship, a Cowboys Watch Party, Men's Basketball and so much more. So, if you are Catholic and are looking for a Catholic Church. I would recommend this Parish, it's the Mother Parish of Arlington.

We're new to the area and sought a church that offers Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Having completed a Google Search, we were brought to St Maria Goretti in Arlington. We arrived to the parish office and I had asked about if the church had a cry room for us with toddlers to attend mass. The male organist stated that the cry room is closed due to covid and hasn't reopened. Fair enough. I asked what people with toddlers did during mass and he shares that there's the back entry way or going outside to the porch area. That sounds welcoming. I asked where the Adoration chapel was and he said that it was behind the door we were standing near but that the entrance was around to the outside entrance. Ok. He mentions that it's a small room and points at my toddler son who isn't keeping his feet still. I nod and say, "We'd just like to say hello to Jesus." Myself and my two toddlers head outside to peek into the Adoration room (not chapel) to say hi to Jesus and there are three people praying in what looks like a walk-in closet. So the cry room is closed but this small room is open. Ok. The kids and I excuse ourselves to the small garden in front of the parish office to see the statues and walk to the main entrance of the church to check out this back entry way of where we can stand for mass with our toddlers, but the doors are locked. Ok. The sign pictured and attached to this review states that if we would like to revere Jesus in the main church, to ask the church office for admittance. We three make our way back to the parish office to ask about entrance and meet an African American music woman who just stepped out of the office if there might be any doors open to the church or if she might be able to let us in. She shrugs and says curtly, "Why?" Mind you, I'm a five foot tall woman with a 2 year old and a 3 year old latched to me so they don't take off in two directions at a new place that sits on a busy street. I reply, "So the kids and I can say hello to Jesus since the Adoration room is small. It says on the door to ask for permission." She gets more curt and responds, "We just don't let anybody in there." Ok. I reached for the kids hands and say, "Ok. I see we're not welcome here." She immediately comes to and says, "Well, it's not that. I'm going in now if you want to come in. " That hurt, but I told the kids we'd say hello to Jesus and frankly, we're needing Him pretty badly today. I nodded and said we'd only be five minutes maximum. We go inside, the kids sit on the pew in the front row, I sing softly for the kids and complete the prayer, "Father, I abandon myself into Your Hands," and then we bless ourselves and leave. We're in there two minutes, tops. We will not be visiting this church again, sadly.
