I love this salon!…read more They have techs that range in age/style, so most people will find someone they're comfortable with. If the tech isn't as experienced with whatever you request, the ladies around her will help. My last visit is what really sealed the deal. I requested my usual gel pedicure but added a cat eye shimmer. It didn't seem like something she was used to doing, but the tech next to her helped and it came out perfect :) The ladies I was sitting next to even complimented them. It looked so pretty and the entire process was enjoyable. She took her time with shaping each nail and made sure my feet were smooth and moisturized. Now, the prices are a little steeper than most salons in the area...but you pay for quality. They don't rush and it's something to be appreciated. I can't wait to go back and try another color combo :D

As a professional in the beauty industry, I have never encountered a business owner so…read moreunprofessional. I called Grace Nails to schedule an appointment and specifically requested a technician experienced in Gel X nails. The owner answered the phone and assured me that she had someone skilled and very good at the service. However, long story short, I was dissatisfied with my nails. I still paid and left a tip. I then called back to see if someone could fix the issue. The owner had left for the day when I visited. I spoke to her the following day, and she told me to return, as she would fix the issue. I scheduled an appointment with her two days after the initial visit. However, she canceled on the day of the appointment, claiming she had an emergency. She then offered to meet either the next day or another day. I responded that I was available the following day, but I received no reply. Days later, she apologized and asked if I could come the next day; I agreed, but again received no response. It's now been a week since my initial service attempt. She later responded with another apology, saying she could do Monday. I agreed, and she set 2:30. I confirmed, asking her to let me know if she would indeed be there, but I never received a reply. I decided to go anyway, and she was not there. Her employees even tried to call her, but she didn't answer. This was her last message to me. My apologies I thought my message went through. But it did not. I thought it was 2:30 today Wednesday my apologies. I'm in from 1:30 to close today if you want to stop by. After nearly five attempts to get her to keep the appointment, she's clearly avoiding my calls and messages. Her behavior is unprofessional; she's dishonest by lying about fixing my nails and about her employee claiming she knew what she was doing. I wouldn't recommend Grace Nails, as the owner seems unwilling to address customer concerns or make things right.

I received high-quality service and nails from Layhill Nails and Spa last week. I called ahead of…read moretime to schedule an appointment with the next available nail technician and was able to get a quick appointment in for an emergency nail fix. I was greeted by a nail technician named Phuong. She was dressed professionally and also was very professional in greeting and talking with me about what I wanted for my nail services for the day. I showed her pictures of nail inspiration for what I was looking for and she was able to help me pick a color that would match what I wanted. I have been to many nail places where they rush through the process of asking you the shape of your nails, and the color that you're looking for, so I greatly appreciate the time that Phuong took to meet with me to talk before getting into the appointment. The facility was clean, well organized, and nail technicians were communicating with their guests. Many of which I could tell there were fostered relationships between them (which shows quality of service!) Unfortunately, the last place that I got my nails done left my nails very damaged and thin. Phuong do some suggestions for a future appointment that may help to strengthen my nails as they grow out. Phuong took her time to prep my cuticles and shape my nails properly. The picture for this review was taken a week after the nails were first done. I look forward to coming back to Layhill Nails and Spa for a future appointment.

The good: I scheduled over the phone with Phoung. She was incredibly pleasant over the phone. I'm…read morealso very happy with the service. The mani and pedi were both thorough. The bad: Unfortunately, Phoung is efficient to a fault. She would rush me to remind me place my hand under the gel lamp by barking orders. She even grabbed my hands a few times to do so herself. Though thorough, I was not comfortable. I found her lacking in customer service. I emphasized that my nails were weak and asked for a strong coat overlay. She consistently ignored me telling me they were not. I now have a broken nail three days later. Overall, I don't think our personalities meshed well. I also don't think she intended to appear as rude.

I am in DC temporarily for cancer treatment so I wanted to find a place to get my lashes done…read morebecause it's the one (vain) thing that makes me feel better right now. This place got good reviews so I booked an appointment at the Eastern Market location since it's near the place I'm staying. The night prior, they called and asked if I'd be willing to go to the Dupont Circle location instead so that the technician could fit in more appointments. It was annoying, but not a huge deal. I was getting lash removal & a new set of classic/hybrid lashes. I've been getting eyelash extensions for 13 years and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. They were thin, whispy, pre-made fans that were poorly glued onto only some of my lashes. They started falling off almost immediately, and there were visible white clumps of glue that a friend pointed out because she thought I had crumbs on my eyes. One week later when I went to another eyelash studio, they couldn't even tell I had any extensions on until they put me under the lights. I would've been better off just curling my own lashes & using mascara because mine are thicker & longer than whatever they used. I've never had such poor quality.
