I love this salon! They have techs that range in age/style, so most people will find someone they're comfortable with. If the tech isn't as experienced with whatever you request, the ladies around her will help. My last visit is what really sealed the deal. I requested my usual gel pedicure but added a cat eye shimmer. It didn't seem like something she was used to doing, but the tech next to her helped and it came out perfect :) The ladies I was sitting next to even complimented them. It looked so pretty and the entire process was enjoyable. She took her time with shaping each nail and made sure my feet were smooth and moisturized. Now, the prices are a little steeper than most salons in the area...but you pay for quality. They don't rush and it's something to be appreciated. I can't wait to go back and try another color combo :D read more

As a professional in the beauty industry, I have never encountered a business owner so unprofessional. I called Grace Nails to schedule an appointment and specifically requested a technician experienced in Gel X nails. The owner answered the phone and assured me that she had someone skilled and very good at the service. However, long story short, I was dissatisfied with my nails. I still paid and left a tip. I then called back to see if someone could fix the issue. The owner had left for the day when I visited. I spoke to her the following day, and she told me to return, as she would fix the issue. I scheduled an appointment with her two days after the initial visit. However, she canceled on the day of the appointment, claiming she had an emergency. She then offered to meet either the next day or another day. I responded that I was available the following day, but I received no reply. Days later, she apologized and asked if I could come the next day; I agreed, but again received no response. It's now been a week since my initial service attempt. She later responded with another apology, saying she could do Monday. I agreed, and she set 2:30. I confirmed, asking her to let me know if she would indeed be there, but I never received a reply. I decided to go anyway, and she was not there. Her employees even tried to call her, but she didn't answer. This was her last message to me. My apologies I thought my message went through. But it did not. I thought it was 2:30 today Wednesday my apologies. I'm in from 1:30 to close today if you want to stop by. After nearly five attempts to get her to keep the appointment, she's clearly avoiding my calls and messages. Her behavior is unprofessional; she's dishonest by lying about fixing my nails and about her employee claiming she knew what she was doing. I wouldn't recommend Grace Nails, as the owner seems unwilling to address customer concerns or make things right. read more

Here I am still coming here 7 years later. My dip here lasts long and the quality is always great. I get Mia to do my nails and she always strives for perfection. I can truly say this is the best customer service in the area. The salon also was recently reconstructed/ remodeled and looks gorgeous inside. I recommend this salon to everyone in the area, it is worth the cost for sure. read more

This was my first time here and it was relatively easy to get an appointment, I called them for 2 pedicures a day ahead and they were able to accommodate. It had been a long time since I got a pedicure and the tech did a good job of softening my heel and removing and dry dead cells. She also did a good job at painting my toes. My friend was also pleased with her pedicure. The place is cute, with nice lighting, they still have the protective panels between the tech and customer, idk if that is remanence of covid or their normal procedure. It's not the most spacious nail salon I've been to but still decent. Place seems clean, no red flags so far. We last minute changed our mind about getting our nails done so asked the tech if we can also quickly getting our nails done too, but the techs quickly shut it down, which I understand because they might not have had the specialists that do nails in house at that time, so my advise is to make sure you inform them ahead of time. I'll probably go here again! read more

My daughter is a huge fan of this salon. It's her go-to spot for any special occasion, and I agree that they do a wonderful job. However, I had an issue when I dropped my 15-year-old daughter off for her appointment. I was clear with both my daughter and the receptionist about the services we wanted and the agreed-upon price. It was a bit frustrating when my daughter called me to ask about additional services. In the end, I contacted the salon and instructed them to proceed with only the original services we had discussed. read more

Very disappointed, came here with my friend thinking we would be paying a premium for a good service considering their prices are much steeper than other salons in the area but boy were we wrong. My friends toe got sliced during the grating process and was bleeding as the nail technician was chatting with her friend instead of focusing on the job. She then didn't know what to do and had to ask someone else for help to stop the bleeding. Afterwards the nail technician blamed the cut on my friend saying that she moved her toe.............when we clearly saw her looking away as she was grating recklessly. I went to the salon with my friend who speaks Vietnamese and the entire time they were talking shit about us for not wanting to use a UV light on dip powder manicure saying "you won't die" not knowing she understood everything. So unprofessional and reckless. Worst nail salon experience and I've been getting my nails done for years. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Mia is the only person I go to for my manicures but for my pedicures I ask for anyone. Prices are a bit higher but the quality of work shows for it. I do believe the business deserves a 5-star rating, however I have had a recent experience that made me quite disappointed. I attempted to book an appointment numerous times and I was consistently pushed back to future dates. After the 4th attempt, there was a no-show and so I went elsewhere to get my nails done because I needed my nails done for an important event. I've been going to this salon for about a year now. Mishaps happen and I did receive an apology so I would re-consider returning maybe in the future. read more

Nice spot! Finally found a place that does a nice pedicure and nail art in the DMV... That doesn't charge an arm and a leg also. Even though I was running late, they still serviced me with a smile and were friendly. The pedicure chair was not uncomfortable and actually worked... And had various settings. I have been a client of Mia's (owner of Grace nails) for about 10 years . She is the absolute best at what she does especially since I'm one of the pickiest and biggest nail/cuticle biter. She's the only one that can do acrylics or dip on me without it falling off and they can last from 4-6 weeks even with me picking at them bahaha...which is why even after moving to Frederick, MD I still make the trip to silver spring just to have my nails done. I'd also highly recommend her for waxing as well - from eyebrows to upper lip, underarms and Brazilian ! For pedicures I highly recommend Mindy ! She takes her time and always perfects the gel polish and shape of toe nails . My 13 year old daughter loves the shaping of when she gets her eyebrows waxed by Mindy...she also recently got her very first acrylic gel set and is in LOVE with them ! Grace nails recently moved two doors down in the little shopping center where it was renovated with very welcoming and modern spa vibes and on top of that VERY CLEAN and SPACIOUS ! I have been a customer at Grace Nails for more than 5 years, and I travel pretty far to go there. Mia, the salon owner, provides excellent customer service and quality service. Most salons try to rush you out the door, but the techs at Grace Nails take their time and allow you to actually relax and enjoy the experience. I always fall asleep when getting a pedicure from Mindy because she makes me comfortable and relaxed. I appreciate that the salon is clean and always cutely decorated for the month/holidays. I have been going to Grace Nails for about 5 years and I absolutely love them. Jade is AWESOME!!!! She is so sweet and does an outstanding job with my pink and white nails. Additionally, because she knows I don't deviate from my "comfortable shades of red" for my pedicure, she always picks the best red colors (certain reds for fall/winter months and certain reds for spring/summer months). Everyone is very welcoming, and friendly, and I love the overall vibe. I truly appreciate Jade, Mia, and everyone there. It's always a wonderful, stress-free, relaxing experience!!! The shop is beautiful, especially after the recent expansion and renovations. Mia runs a lovely shop. I like that they communicate when a change in the schedule is necessary. The ladies are all very sweet. Nancy is my manicurist, and she always does such a great job. I usually get designs, some of them pretty intricate. I highly recommend. A wonderful gem in the neighborhood. Stumbled upon this place last year and the customer service, amazing nails & pedicure has secured me to keep coming back! All of the ladies are talented. I often look forward to my appointments with Mia, when i can't pick a color, Mia will always pick such a beautiful color to match my skin tone. I can't say enough about Grace Nails! I live in Crofton but happily drive to Silver Spring every 2 weeks because I know I'll be happy with the results. I have been going to Grace Nails for 8 years now and have always been more than satisfied with the services I've received which have included manicures, pedicures, and waxing. Mia, the owner, is very friendly, polite, and professional and you can tell that she truly cares not only about her salon, but all of the clients that walk through the door. I've gotten a wide range of styles from plain colors to French ombré and holographic and each time I have walked out happy and satisfied. I've gotten nail services done from other techs including Jade and Mindy as well and they have also done amazing jobs. Many of the techs have regulars/loyal customers so you know that means they're good. The new salon which opened in late 2023 is absolutely gorgeous - very modern and very clean. Kim! So after saying her name and praying to the nail Gods she always has time for me... I'll give you the scoop. Moved to silver spring and the pressure of finding a good nail tech (to fill in some big shoes, my prev tech in VA was great) was seriously ON! It's hard to find techs that take their time, listen to what you want, and have the skills to pull it off. I made an appointment last night and was seen on time at 9am the next day. Shop was clean and they had a good selection of colors. A refill, repair and pedi later, I'm so happy I found a great tech! read more

I finally found my go-to nail salon. Mia is absolutely the best and her staff is so nice. Mia is super talented and her creativity is amazing. I have not walked out with a bad manicure or pedicure and I have been a client 4 times now. My pedicure was reasonable and relaxing. My gel manicures are the same. One aspect I love about Mia is that she shares knowledge of how to care for your nails. I used to have horrible cuticles and since going to Mia, I don't have the hang nails as much. Self care is important and I am glad I go here for mine. I highly recommend! read more

Grace Nails is a lovely intimate salon. It definitely has a relaxing vibe going on. I've gotten my nails done here often for gel mani/pedi. Cindy and Mindy always do a great job! Even from what I've seen, I can say all of the nail techs are great. I'd suggest any of them. Today was my first time getting acrylics (fill in) here and I'd like to comment on how much of an AMAZING job Rin did on my nails! She perfected them and did an amazing job shaping/doing the length of my nails. And the color is just as great. She helped me achieve the holographic look I wanted. I have been going to Mia, the owner for years when she worked for other establishments. She opened up this shop a couple years ago and I couldn't be happier! Mia is wonderful. She is warm, kind, fair and truly skilled at what she does. She doesn't take short cuts and always does her best to ensure you are beyond satisfied. It also seems like Mia makes sure she hires employees that believe in the same concept. The shop is small, cozy and clean. They use nothing but brand new equipment, clean supplies and premium quality polishes. The prices are super reasonable especially for the quality. It's located in a shopping center right off the main road. Can't miss it. My go-to spot! read more

I saw Star Nails during a trip to Giant and decided to bookmark it on Yelp despite an okay rating. I called ahead to see what time they close (5 pm) and decided that I would make it just in time for a pedicure. When I got there, I had my temperature taken, had to sign a waiver for COVID, and use hand sanitizer before using the pen - all precautionary steps I really appreciate. I did not have to wait to be seated in the pedicure station. Jenny started working on my feet right after I picked a color. The pedicure is what you would expect at any nail salon, but Jenny took the time to make sure my nail beds were cut and shaped. Jenny took care of the two ingrown toenails I had on each big toe. Not going to lie, it hurt. I didn't ask for it but appreciated that she went ahead and took care of it. *If you don't want this type of service, then tell them in advance.* I don't know how long my toes are going to last since it was a basic pedi, but I like the way they look. My toes took about 35-40 minutes to finish so I decided to do a gel manicure after double-checking that it was still okay since they were going to close soon. Jenny also did my hands and I love them! After I finally picked a color she did both hands in probably 30 minutes. I was out the door by 5:30ish. I didn't think it was too expensive: standard pedicure and gel manicure was $64 (without tip). A $45 FILL-IN COST ME $74. Plain gel acrylic. No designs, no nail art, no French tips, no chrome,…read moreno gems, no special shape, no massage, no scrub, no spa treatment, nothing upgraded or elaborate. This was a basic acrylic fill for short nails with one solid color. What they called a "manicure" consisted of a quick soak in plain water, pushing back cuticles, & trimming. No cuticle remover, no conditioner, no treatment. That was another $15. Not $10, but $15. GONE IS COMPREHENSIVE FILL IN: I have been getting acrylic nails since 1990, and a fill-in has always meant maintaining the nails you already have: filling the grown-out area, shortening, shaping, filing cleaning up the cuticles, dealing with lifted or deterioration of acrylic. You went in for a fill, they maintained the nails, and you paid for a fill.One service, one price. Star Nails has taken it apart and sells you the pieces. THE ADD-ONS. $15 to clip my cuticles, which they call a "manicure" -- a soak in plain water and clippers, no remover, no conditioner, no massage. In thirty-six years I have never been charged separately to have a "manicure" with acrylic filling. $5 to clip the ends shorter, which took two seconds. $9 in "repairs" at $3 a nail: two were broken, and the third was acrylic that had aged, which happens and was historically repaired inclusively. That is $29 on top of a $45 service, a 64.4% additional charge, and nobody mentioned any of it until I was at the register. THE RECEIPT DOES NOT ITEMIZE IT. One number, $74.00, and nothing else. I had to ask an employee what I had just paid for and write the breakdown on the slip myself: $45 + $15 +$5 + $9. That is my handwriting in the attached photo. THE PRICE BOARD IS NOT A PRICE LIST. All 27 items end in "& up," and the bottom says prices may vary. It is an opening bid, not a price. Those are starting numbers, not prices. The board says a fill starts at $40. Mine started at $45. So what did the posted $40 actually tell me? Nothing. When every number can go up, no ceiling is stated, and the salon decides what your particular service costs, the number on the board is meaningless as a price -- if not outright misleading to the customer standing there reading it. WHAT $74 BOUGHT. This might be easier to swallow if the finished work were exceptional. It was not. Photos attached. 1. Look at the acrylic from the end of the thumb back toward the cuticle!!! Instead of following the natural contour of the nail, the acrylic rises into a dome, like a hat perched on a head. This is exactly why I have to remind them every visit not to make the acrylic too thick. If I do not monitor it, the nails can come out bulky, gloppy, and unnatural-looking. That should not require customer supervision. 2. Then look at the polish!!It runs onto my skin at the cuticle and past the sidewalls while failing to cover the nail evenly. The color is streaky and thin through areas of the nail, patchy toward the tips, and smeared rather than cleanly applied. There is no crisp edge. These are short nails with one solid opaque color. No design. No French tip. No nail art. No chrome. No special shape. Nothing technically complicated. This is about as basic as acrylic nails get, and the basic application itself is sloppy. That is what makes the $74 number so ridiculous. This was not $74 because I chose elaborate artwork, long sculpted nails, specialty products, or some luxury treatment. It was $74 manipulated. BRING A COAT. It was 79 degrees outside. I dressed for this place on purpose, layers and a heavy jacket, and shivered for ninety minutes. You cannot warm yourself up in there, because your hands are pinned in front of you the whole time. The hand rest under the lamp was ice cold. Her solution was to point a fan at me. THE CAMERAS ARE CREEPY. Front, back, center. -- cameras everywhere. Maybe they are there to monitor the employees. Maybe they are there for security. Either way, yuck. Sitting there for ninety minutes with your hands occupied while cameras are pointed toward the service area does not feel relaxing or welcoming. It feels intrusive. THE ONE GOOD THING. Their nails last longer than anywhere else I have gone. That is real. Durability does not outweight the negatives or make $74 for basic short acrylic nails with one plain color worth it. It does not make carving a fill into a series of extra charges worth it. It does not make a non-itemized receipt, thick acrylic, polish on my skin, uneven coverage, or ninety minutes of shivering worth it. Thirty-six years. A fill-in used to mean a fill-in. Summary: Between the sloppy coloring, sloppy shaping, miserable cold, nickel-and-dime pricing, and the need to monitor the work myself, the entire experience felt less like a salon appointment and more like something I simply had to endure until it was over. And after paying $74 for basic, short, one-color acrylic nails that still came out sloppy, I left feeling robbed.

Upon my first visit, I was greeted by receptionist, younger lady, and told her my name. She proceeded to tell me "go on back". Well, I had to say, "This is my first time here, so not familiar". Plus I wanted to discuss my hair with stylist before shampoo. She then walked me over to meet said stylist, we chatted & then off to shampoo station. OMG, THE BEST SHAMPOO I'VE EVER HAD!! I definitely was im heaven & didn't want it to end. I was offered coffee, tea, water on 2 different occasions, which is nice customer oriented offering. After shampoo, I was escorted back to the stylists station & she began the cut. I DID show her picture of what my hair looks like after a good cut & that's what I was after, the same. The salon was PACKED! I asked if that was normal & got mixed answer, but lady next to me asked her shampoo person same thing & she was a regular. So not sure if I came on a day when everyone was working? It was VERY noisy, which made for communicating with my stylist a bit difficult. Some things I heard, somethings I asked her to repeat & whatever I didn't catch, I had to ignore. Nice lady. So for wanting to dry my hair as curled as natural, she didn't have the right tools to do so. But she made every effort & she admitted it wasn't as curled as when I walked in. I haven't tried to wash & style, so can't provide full comment on satisfaction. I will say that the products used, especially the hairspray, stinks! Like it's the old Aqua Net or old lady salon smell. Im super scent sensitive & I may have to just wash my hair to get rid of the odor. Im 2nd day after haircut & style & did have to fully curl with curling iron to work with it, but I think cut looks like it's ok. Word of warning for anyone going here for first time & something i was NOT told about on phone, which caused me a bit if embarrassment & an extra trip back, TIPS ARE CASH or Venmo ONLY! They do have an ATM machine but I do not use either, so I did return to give her my TIP. Shop was nice, HUGE and everyone seemed nice that I could tell. I may return, not sure, maybe a day when less stylists on duty. Update: after sometime & trying to do my own hair after my haircut, I can now review how the cut was. Today, I had to trim a few areas as some areas were not evenly cut. Again, lots of stylists there, so plenty others to try..

And Sean is so bubbly and fabulous--he really adds such a fun, positive energy to the salon. I'm so happy I found this place while visiting from LA. My nails had visible bubbles, an uneven and lumpy finish, and an issue with the clear polish application. I returned on Monday to have the issue corrected, but the technician only lightly buffed the nails and applied an additional top coat. This did not resolve the underlying problems and, in fact, made the appearance worse. As a result, I had to seek services at another salon to have my nails properly fixed. I am very disappointed with both the initial quality of work and the lack of an adequate resolution.

Monday, I returned to the location bc the paint on my toe nails cracked and one of my designs on my dip nail was not executed to my liking. Now today, Tuesday the nail on my thumb is cracking. My boyfriend got a manicure and pedicure for $75 I came in for dip manicure with design and a pedicure and spent $120 and left a good tip for both my nail stylist and pedicurist. Overall, I spent $215. I have been trying to reach the location to fix the nail; however, I have been unsuccessful. I would really love to come back to get it fixed. Hopefully once I reach out again someone will respond. I may just stop in, just want to be courteous of the staff's time. *Mary did a great job by the way*
