We have been loyal customers of Tack Shack for many years. My daughter even worked there years ago when she was in high school. We are a small Thoroughbred breeding farm and for Christmas this year my husband purchased 3 Tack Shack leather halters for me as a gift. When he checked out he was told he had a $40 credit but no mention was made that there was a deadline as to when this could be used. I went in to Tack Shack yesterday to purchase more halters and use this $40 credit but was informed at check out that it was gone, and that it had to be used by 12/31. I told the clerk they never told him that (he purchased these halters, over $200 worth, on 12/23) and the clerk said "yes they did", which I called him on the spot to ask him for his side. He said he absolutely was not told anything about a deadline for using this credit. I guess it's their "store bucks" where they used to give you a certificate, but they no longer do that so I have no idea how people keep up with it and it sure looks like Tack Shack is HOPING you'll not come back and use it. I emailed Tack Shack after I left and told them I wanted to try and resolve this without leaving a bad review, in which I was told there was nothing they could do. I emailed back and asked for the owner, Marty's, email address and never got a response. My farm will never spend another dime at this store. They have changed, and not for the good. I miss the old Tack Shack. As for all of these 5 star reviews? They have a sign hanging by the register that says "Leave us a 5 star review and get $5".....so I'll just leave that right there. If you want halters about $20 cheaper but the same quality, go to OBS or Seminole. Repairs at Seminole are cheaper as well. People are way friendlier at OBS and Seminole, so that's who will get our business from now on. I'm so disappointed how this was handled. read more

I've been taking my horse blankets to Tack Shack for many years. Earlier this year I dropped off my horse's heavy blanket which is a bit unusual in that it has a belly band that has connections on both sides. When I went to unpackage the blanket earlier this week to put on my senior warmblood, I found that the belly bands were missing. Mind you, I picked up my blankets in April or May and only opened the bags 11/22/24. I went to the store 11/23 when the repair/cleaning office was closed and asked if they could just look out back for my 2 belly bands. They did, but didn't find anything, which didn't surprise me after all this time. I left my info, not thinking that I'd ever resolve the issue. First thing Monday, they called me and told me they would replace the belly bands at no cost. WOW! That was more than I expected. Honestly, the design of this blanket makes it easy to understand how they could have gotten separated. Anyway, their kindness in making me 2 new belly bands while I waited was unexpected. Being a business owner myself, that's what I consider excellent customer service and something I so appreciated - And the reason, why I will continue to shop at Tack Shack and bring my winter blankets each year for cleaning. Maybe I caught them on a bad day? Walked around the store for atleast 30 minutes and was not greeted, acknowledged, approached or even noticed, for all I know. I bought a horse blanket during a promotion I didn't know about. I never used the blanket and wanted to return it a week later but didn't bring the promotional coupon back with me and they treated me like sh*t because I didn't bring the coupon back. I'm a busy person so didn't do a round trip back home to get it and just will never shop there again. I just wanted store credit and to get more tack but I was treated like crap because of some stupid promotion I didn't care about. There is an older woman w/ short grey hair that works there that needs some real customer service training. She is short, rude, unhelpful, and acted as though my questions were a real bore to her. I said I had questions about the boots so i walked over the section and she just stood where she was instead of coming with me to engage and assist me. When I asked if the literal only four pairs, they had of a boot was all they had she just said abruptly, "yes." She didn't offer to look in the back, she didn't offer to order them for me to be shipped in, nothing. I left, went to Ariat at WEC and had MUCH better customer service and overall experience. Not to mention they had MANY more boots than just four pairs and even had a cooler color/pattern that Tack Shack didn't even carry. Oh, and the Ariat at WEC offered a year warranty for free, no questions asked, and the boots were the exact same price as at Tack Shack. read more

This is my go-to tack store in Ocala. The customer service is great and they will custom-order, or make, anything you need. We were having trouble fitting one of our quarterhorses with a saddle and the shopkeepers let us take home and return several saddles until we finally found the right one for him. They were even willing to let us trailer him over to try on every saddle in the store in order to find one that fit him. The tack selection is good, but they also have repair services, leatherworking and blanket cleaning. They also have a decent selection of clothing and knicknacks which are fun to browse through. Tack Shack is the go -to place for horse gear: Hunter, Dressage, Western tack are all with their plaza. However, what totally rocks is their repair shop. I had a brand new driving harness that needed a few more holes, and not only do they have the proper leather working tools, but they did it while I browsed the shop (I had called for an appointment). When the holes were not quite perfect (smaller size) he took it back and matched them exactly--a crucial aspect in Pleasure Carriage Driving--and he was cheerful and pleasant. I had called another local shop about the same problem, and the person on the phone was so off putting, I went somewhere else--to Tack Shack. They also have saddle fitting--you can bring your horse and try different saddles on her/him right there. Plus, their horsie yard sale, and art sales are the most heppening event around! read more

I love going to Tack Shack. I consider this like shopping with personal shoppers for your horses and yourself. All the staff in the store (I'm an English rider) know their stuff inside out and will do their utmost to make you more than satisfied. I would like to recognize in particular Liz, Mickey, Sade, Sharon (I don't remember more names now). They all work as a team and remember your needs and interests. So disappointed with my experience at this store. Today was the first time I went and was pretty excited about their selection. However, I'm so disgusted and disappointed in the staff there, I just dont have words to reflect how strongly I feel. Florida is currently hitting record high numbers of coronavirus positive cases. The signs on the door of the store say you have to wear a mask, but the employees couldn't be bothered to even attempt to enforce it. There are clearly marked spots on the floor by the counter to stand and wait your turn to ensure social distancing, but the employees couldn't be bothered with that either. I saw many people in the store without masks and this one entitled and super rude older woman trying on new show coats, no mask and coming up to the counter and plopping her stuff on the table where she waited impatiently to be acknowledged by staff members whenever she needed something and stood right next to me and others. The staff happily helped her and attended to her every need, but couldn't have cared less about the needs or we'll being of others. I take chemo drugs and clearly have a compromised immune system because of that. I rarely go out because of the pandemic. However when I'm in a place that small that could easily have the staff managing proper safety measures during these times, I expect them to. My safety is just as important as her sale. And as easily as you could talk to her about the coat you could've told her and the others they needed to have masks on. This place has so much stuff for horses. Some things I've never seen too. They make most of the leather stuff on the premises. There is a window looking into the factory so you can see stuff being made. They also do repairs on haters and saddles. They have a kids section with toys and horse stuff for little girls.
