Wife and I went here for Taco Tuesday at the recommendation of several friends. I'm glad we did…read more Nice, roomy place, full bar available, plenty of seating too. They brought the obligatory chips and salsa to start . The salsa was good! The chips? Not so much. Wife ordered shrimp tacos (with rice and refried beans). I ordered ground beef tacos (with rice and refried rice beans. Wife really liked her tacos. Two huge tacos stuffed and good sized shrimp tails on them. She said she'd order them again. I was "so-so" on my beef tacos. They were huge but there was something about them that has me debating if I would order them again. I might go with the chimichanga next time. To be honest, I'm a Texan and it's been a chore finding anything to compare with Tex-Mex . This has been one of two that might come close. So I'd encourage anyone to try this place. I will stress CAUTION though. 1) If you use the side entrance from the parking lot. Be VERY CAREFUL!! There a 2 step downs at the door to enter the place. If it's sunny outside, you will have to adjust your vision quickly to the darker inside and trip over can easily happen. 2) the restrooms are in B a very narrow hallway and the doors are heavy and spring loaded. If you are like me, with a disability, it may be a challenge navigating all that so be prepared. Having someone assist you might be a good call. Have a great day!!!

Taco Mama - The Tamale Tip That Paid Off…read more We were midway through an early dinner at Cafe 1217 when a local picking up takeout struck up a conversation and started passionately recommending Taco Mama next door. Specifically, the tamales. You could tell this wasn't casual advice, this was a mission. So, naturally, we listened. On our way out of town toward Texas, we grabbed half a dozen to-go, planning to turn them into a road trip breakfast with friends. Risky? Maybe. Worth it? Absolutely. Big hit. The masa was just right, great texture, good flavor, holding everything together without stealing the show. The sauces were outstanding, especially the red one, which brought a solid kick without overwhelming things. By the next morning, we looked like heroes. If you're in Hot Springs and craving Mexican food, this is your stop. Friendly service, a colorful, lively setting, and a patio if you want a little fresh air with your meal. And if a local tells you what to order... trust them.

The soft corn are some of the best we've ever had. The chipotle sauce was like a bbq sauce...very tasty. Carnitas had good flavor but could use a sauce, which they have options. The fried chicken tender on the southern taco lacked flavor. If you're a fan of fish tacos from Rubio's in California, these are meat identical flavor. The red snapper was fresh and flaky. And there's many more taco options. We had a training server but he was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu and options. And then there's the margaritas. Had the hibiscus 'rita. Priced very well and better than other restaurants in the area. We will definitely be back.

We got there at 5 and we basically the only table (4 people) in the main area. Ordered margaritas and guacamole, chips and salsa. None of those items arrived until 5:30. Ordered tacos and additional drinks which didn't arrive until after 6pm. When the food came it was incorrect and missing tacos for two of our guests around 6:45. When the bill came at 7 it was wrong in all kinds of ways. It took our waiter a very long time to correct and it was still wrong. At that point we decided to cut our losses and just pay it and depart. Something has changed. The food that came out was good. But the service and organization was the worst we've seen. Also. In visiting the restroom it appeared it hadn't been cleaned in months and months. The mold build up on the grout was terrible. (Photo included) I'm so hopeful things will change back and service, cleanliness and staffing will improve because this has always been my favorite place.

The thing with MV is they spend lots of money on their cheese, and signature sauces. Taco Vila on the other hand doesn't have any "premium ingredients." Picture home burrito night except you water down the seasoning a bit. That seriously all this is "white people burrito night." This is also apparent by everyone who orders anything here that they also order a cheese dip that they dunk their burrito into. The cheese is simply that canned cheese you usually get with nachos at a ball park. PS they only accept cash!!! I understand this is an acquired taste, just like Springfields MV, but I personally think you'd do better making it at home. But there are lots of people here who grew up on it and love it so I respect that. Nothing really to look at, not a lot of seating. More like a fast food place you go in order and leave.

YASSSSSSSMAAM! I am in town visiting friends and homie…read morerecommended this birria truck. Came back w his three tacos, my enchilada quesobirria, guac and white queso with chips. This is flavor town yall. Dishes even come with a chile brine to dip in. The meat is supple, flavorful and deeeeelicious. They soak the shells in the brine before putting them on the griddle so they have a saturated color and flavor that I am all about. Guac is fresh and super solid. White queso is redonk with house made chips and schmered on everything. My buddy is a taco truck enthusiast who basically thinks he struck gold by finding this place, visiting it every week since he found it. I'll probs get three meals out of this and it is VERY reasonably priced! Incredible. Gracias!! SUPPORT LOCAL FOOD

Holy Schneikies!!!! They were not pulling my leg in the previous reviews!…read more I don't know what the heck is wrong with me, but I've lived in the area for about a year and a half and thankfully checked Yelp today, Easter Sunday, to see what casual restaurants were open. This looked interesting, and I followed the reviews over the bridge to the road much less traveled. It is literally a little food trailer with an adjacent building and an awning with outdoor seating just sitting on the side of the road, pumping out excellent food and service. There was a decent little line when I arrived, but the staff is very friendly and apologized for a couple of items being completely blown out. That's what I get for showing up for lunch at 1 o'clock. I ordered the lingua burrito minus beans but add a little cheese and took the mild hot sauce on the side since I'm an old white lady and can't handle the super spicy stuff now. About 10 minutes later, they called my number and I sat down to open a to go box that contained a beautifully toasted burrito about the size of my head. The first bite knocked my socks off! And that's saying quite a bit because the first bite usually has nothing but tortilla and tomatoes and rice in it. From top to bottom this thing was jampacked with delicious tender lingua, but it was the fresh greens, delicious Mexican rice, the super yummy salsa and grilled onions plus whatever else they've blessed me with. Let's just put it this way: It was SO good, I left a $10 tip. The only cons I could find were a lack of napkins set out for self service or in my bag, and some ice for the sodas would be nice, but I don't even care. I moved here from California and have had a real hard time finding authentic Mexican cuisine. The only way you could make Valdiva Brothers any better as if they also did El Pastor and added the ice and napkins. It'll be on regular rotation now, I almost ate the whole thing. It was so delicious.
