This saddens me. I LOVE Capos. It is my go-to place for a la cart tacos and house margaritas. I've been there dozens and dozens of times. Tonight was different and something has changed. We got there at 5 and we basically the only table (4 people) in the main area. Ordered margaritas and guacamole, chips and salsa. None of those items arrived until 5:30. Ordered tacos and additional drinks which didn't arrive until after 6pm. When the food came it was incorrect and missing tacos for two of our guests around 6:45. When the bill came at 7 it was wrong in all kinds of ways. It took our waiter a very long time to correct and it was still wrong. At that point we decided to cut our losses and just pay it and depart. Something has changed. The food that came out was good. But the service and organization was the worst we've seen. Also. In visiting the restroom it appeared it hadn't been cleaned in months and months. The mold build up on the grout was terrible. Taco Tuesday meant we're in Hot Springs so we decided to try a new place for tacos. Capos Tacos was our stop and we questioned if it was opened at 3pm but they were. The place is across the street from the horse racing tack and was surprisingly much larger than expected. The menu is huge and service was friendly and great. The prices were reasonable. Sorry. I wish I took a picture of the menu. Probably online somewhere. Parking lot is huge and we could only assume that the place is jumping during racing season. My wife chose 1 shrimp taco and another with steak. She really enjoyed them both. I had 2 southern tacos (fried chicken pieces). We both took the crispy shells too. I liked mine but I'm still not sure about the crispy shells taste.maybe they needed to change the deep frying grease? I'm not sure. I was happy to see 4 different choices of hot sauce to choose from ( 3 of the 4 are home made and good). The moral of the story is that we both agreed to come back some time and try other things on the menu. It's worth the stop if in the area. I'd be interested in your review. read more

Service is amazing at this Ameri-Mex local eatery where great drinks and good eats are offered in this very clean restaurant across from the track! I heard these were the best tacos in town so I immediately thought of getting tongue, and goat tacos with a flame broiled Serrano. Nope, not the La comida casera that I was expecting. Made with care. Great quality ingredients. Delicious is an understatement. Chorizo and egg taco - a Saturday and Sunday brunch special - is spectacular. Chorizo has the best flavor. Avocado toast is also a huge hit with a friend still raving about it weeks later. Another favorite of mine is the tres leches French toast- what's not to love with a description on the menu of - simply amazing (truth in advertising). Staff is friendly, attentive (but not overly so), and the locals are the best! Mimosas are on special for brunch with options - orange, cranberry, or my favorite - pineapple. Was in town for the eclipse. Before heading over to the spa for the much-hyped mineral bath (I'm a cynic about most things), grabbed lunch at Capo's. It's divey looking place on the outside, but fairly nice once inside. We sat at the bar and ordered a quick bite. The Scientist had a burrito bowl: it wasn't good. Very salty, no substantive amount of rabbit food (which was fine with me, but she likes vegetables as a main, with protein doing the rhythm). On the one hand, exceptionally heavy for a burrito bowl, but it lacked anything noteworthy. Guess she should have gone for the fajita chicken instead of the pulled chicken, as it seemed to be the bartender's initial inclination...she was deferential and accommodating, but sometimes the road to hell is paved with good intentions. That rec notwithstanding, the service was outstanding. (I couldn't think of a third word with "-standing" that would fit in that last sentence...you're welcome) I had 4 tacos. Yep. Quattro. I was on a trip, so I decided to sample. Barbacoa was so-so. I didn't get much depth from the Modelo part of it. The Al pastor was a bit muddled. Good, but the flavor was either kind of lost or hidden. The snapper was very good- probably the highlight of the meal. The fish was cooked perfectly, the crisp but delicate texture complimented by some punch in the heat department. The slaw was the third note in the chord; the dish sang with flavor. The carnitas were remarkably good for a Tex-Mex taco. Pickled onions gave a tinge of sweet, alike the snapper, the pork was precisely fried to yield an excellent crispy exterior. Good, not great. If you're in the mood for tacos, it's solid, but between the tacos it's a bit hit or miss (read: get the snapper and the barbacoa). If you're looking for the best food on that part of Central, Rocky's is close by. read more

We went there after a long hike so we were all relatively tired. My mom and sister got tacos and loved them, they were relatively cheap and you could mix and match the tacos which was pretty slay (nice). I got one of the bowls and liked it a lot, a nice mix of sweet and spicy for what I got. The salsa was also not like any salsa I've ever had but I really enjoyed, and as someone who eats chips and salsa for dinner occasionally I'd recommend. My mom liked the guacamole (I dont really like guacamole so I won't taint my review). There was plenty of seating and parking and a bar area. Which a lot do the other reviews talk about the alcohol, and I was skeptical if me and my sister could go because of this but there is a kids menu, and there's a separate area away from the bar. I came here alone for a quick weekday lunch. It was markedly better than Taco Bell but nothing compared to Mexican restaurants I've been to in Texas and Florida. The dining room is colorful and casual, but more like a worn, basic sports bar. Very open and noisy from the tvs and conversations. I started with a frozen strawberry margarita which sucked. The tequila in the drink tasted bitter, the ice slushy was much too watery, and the mix lacked a strong taste of strawberry. Blecch! I then ordered the chips and queso and a bowl of chicken tortilla soup. Service from the bartender was kind and attentive; the best part of the experience. The chips were thick, yellow and almost certainly from a food service supplier, not made in house. The queso was thin and nothing special. Three other salsas in bottles at the table were tasteless: the red was super hot and lacking any flavor, and two tomatillo-looking greens were just bland; all were watery. Indeed, they were all in squeeze bottles with the pointy ketchup-bottle-type tops so they're never going to be thick or compatible with dipping. My tortilla soup was served at almost room temperature and had to be sent back. On its return it was actually quite tasty and warm. The presentation was good and I'd give the soup 4 stars. Utensils, plates and napkins were cheap like you'd find in a state prison. Finally, the men's room was slightly dirty but adequate and the prices and portion sizes were average. read more

If I could give negative zero on the service I would. The drink that was prepared was not too strong (bartender error in my opinion)... I asked for them to either remake or if I could take it to go....they could NOT accommodate. So when I asked to take it off the bill.....that too was a hard NO, along with the bartender entertaining a couple by saying how she's not even on payroll to be dealing with today's mess... They miraculously gave me a to-go bottle to take it home. Went to pay my bill, and the host decided that I didn't need my change....ummm, I want my coins, and the non-monetary tip of the day is to DO BETTER! Beyond unprofessional and unclassy.... I do NOT understand the stars this place has. This is the first place we've eaten at in Hot Springs, and now we're scared. Bland. Boring. Basic. And that's being positive. For real. There were five of us. We ordered the nachos with chicken, of a variety of tacos, the go big or go home, and two protein bowls. No one enjoyed their food. We left half of it. Maybe Dallas has spoiled us, but I took two bites and pushed my bowl away. Thankfully, it's happy hour and I'm sipping on a $3 margarita. At least there's that. Also, the waiter didn't know anything about the menu, got two things wrong, and forgot one of the tacos. Barbacoa done right. All I can say is their barbacoa was hands down one of the best I've had. Mexican food in Arkansas, usually you don't have high hopes. This place brings a touch of fusion with the authenticity. We had tinga empanadas that were deepfried in a crispy airy shell. Usually baked, I enjoyed this version. They were topped with honey and sour cream. Great bite. Elite bites which imo not as successful because of the breading overpowering the corn filling. I think if they did those in the empanada she'll the flavors would pop. Tacos, fire cracker which was buffalo chicken, Baja shrimp and barbacoa. The last one being amazing, the middle one great and the buffalo, well as a taco it did not do it for me but it was pretty darn good buffalo chicken. I'd live that on a sandwich or by itself. They did the best they could as far as service goes, as they seemed super short handed. We also had a party of 11 and there were several others there eating and seemed they only had two waiters in the entire restaurant. The food is mediocre or subpar at best. The meat didn't taste very seasoned and dint have much flavor. I doubt we ever stop back in. I can't figure out how this place has such a high yelp rating. read more

Covid: I haven't seen a restaurant have physical menus in months... luckily I had a napkin to flip it. A patron walked into the restaurant without a mask on. They do NOT sanitize the tables, which makes me believe there's no way they sanitize the shared salsa bottles they give to each table or the menus. The Esquite sucks. It's bland and the corn's texture is like great value canned corn. Just mushy and not enough Mayo. They say that the corn tortillas are made in house so I got the blue corn. The gator taco was surprisingly tasty. The al pastor though... was okay but I prefer my al pastor to have crispy bites from the grill or from the rotation on the rotisserie. Just don't get the chicken tinga or the barbacoa. Save your stomach space. The Jamaica was far too sweet for me, but I really enjoyed their horchata! read more
