As a little German boy visiting the United States I was quite excited to taste the cultural food of the Americans. I had ordered the famed Crunchwrap Supreme, a renowned Beefy 5 layer burrito, the classic beef soft taco, a limited Cripsy chicken BBQ taco, and of course the sweet and refreshing fountain of youth known as Mountain Dew Baja Blast. To my surprise after putting in my order I was only charged with such a small fee for which I was delighted. I thought to myself that I could feed my entire family with this amount of food with this price. However, I would not be so sure if my larger German family could survive the American culture like I have. I had started my exciting journey with the soft taco. It was my first bite of the classic Mexican delicacy and I would admit it was quite enjoyable... It made me smile. Then I went to the Beefy 5 layer burrito. There are so many things in life that one could survive, they say a cat has nine lives, but what about a little German boy? I only get one. When I was on my second bite into the burrito, I realized what I was going into. I didn't have the chance to react, my arms and hands numb. I attempt to reach for the elixir that is Baja Blast but I could not make it in time. The burrito burned in my mouth with spice, I have never eaten anything so spicy in my life. The amount of salt put into this Beefy 5 layer burrito is more than I have ever had. Eventually, after moments of suffering I had grasped the elixir of life and brought its life to my lips. Who would have thought, that the so called drink of a lifetime, one representing American culture, was the next item that almost killed me. The drinks sugar attacked my mouth with animosity and hatred. Perchance the Baja blast had the spirit of an American Eagle swooping down on this poor little German boy. I was defeated... I could continue the tale of how I... a poor little German boy was violated and tortured by the American food culture. But there is much more to this. The entire time I had realized that it was my ignorance that has failed to properly understand the significance of Taco Bell. I have come to understand that Taco Bell stands for the peasants in the United States. It is not something that a fine noble or lord would come into possession. Taco Bell is a reminder of what the lower class of America must eat every day to survive. You could even say that this kind of delicacy is a waste of ingredients and a waste of livestock. In my final notes I will say this. Eating Taco Bell for the first time was like that scene in the Disney animated film Ratatouille where the food critique takes a bite of ratatouille and he has a heart warming flashback of his childhood. I ordered on the tacobell mobile app, my friend who ordered 5 minutes after me and had a larger order got theirs first. I saw countless huge orders be handed out while I only had 2 small items. I waited 30 minutes, I got the wrong item (avocado ranch crispy chicken soft taco) and then called the store. They told me they couldn't do anything about it even though I've had this issue before with countless fast food establishments and they've just wrote my name down and remade it for me. The employees made my order wrong, my receipt says a different thing (Frank's Red Hot crispy chicken soft taco) than what I got in the bag. After I called the official customer support number online and it wasn't operating at that time. Real good job. Dont use the mobile app it'll get pushed back behind EVERY single other type of order, expect a 30 minute long wait, check your bag. They dont even know what they're making. Dissapointment is an understatement, this location is a disgrace to the Taco Bell name. My hometown location would NEVER do this. I am a very hungry college student, and I am still hungry. This is the nearest TB from the UCSC Campus the majority of the customers here are from out of town or college kids. 1 star is off because there Is NO DRIVE-THRU. Other than that a pretty modernized Taco Bell has the 4 kiosks for ordering , but noticed no area for sauces you have to ask for them . I guess people take too many . The area is pretty lit next door to a a McDonald's and Namaste Indian restaurant. Lots of people working on the Sunday night on Thanksgiving weekend. Workers are great. Like a lot of other establishments in Santa Cruz you have to get sure to the stoners and bums that hangout in the front. Lot of them talk to themselves god knows why but they don't bother people mostly. There is no inside bathroom you have to ask a worker and they open from the back from a buzzer or key I think. Open late like other Taco Bell's but afar this looks like a stand alone Taco Bell that should have a drive thru like usual but unfortunately it doesn't . It's NOT a Cantina TB for those of you who like to have a beer or hard drink while eating Taco Bell. Other than that it's open late like all Taco Bell's and assume it gets busy with the young college crowd at night. Lastly one thing that sucked is there coverage for cell phone . I have AT&T and I had only one bar I connected to their free WiFi and it was really very slow. They need to fix that Date of visit : 12/1/24 I noticed they brought back the apple empanadas to the menu I don't know why they even took them off. They were fire. I read somewhere that they're discontinuing the Mexican Pizza which was my favorite when I was a teenager. It's been awhile since I tried it, and so I decided to buy it to see if it was the same as I remembered it to be. Wow, how memories and taste buds change. This thing is cheap and salty. Can't state for the indoor eating, but the location has a good amount of parking which is always helpful. Not sure why the low reviews because I actively will choose this locations over others in town. Appreciate that they are efficient and not bothered if we have any questions. Two build your own cravings box. We spent a total of $2.19 cents. Unbeatable!!!! We got the build your own craving box!!! Two Baja blasts which are always so tasty. Then a five layer beef burrito, chalupa, cheese Gordita crunch and a regular taco. The burrito was good but the chalupa. was overall kind of bland. However we saved a lot of it and when we took it home it hit sooo good. Service was really nice and the people there got our food out fast. So much food for such a little price. i walked into the taco bell and the Ambiance was already off the workers were slow and looked like they had been worker 88 hours straight it took them 17 minutes to make a chicken cantina, quesadilla and while they did get my order correct my quesadilla was half way open and burnt it was very hard to eat and not very enjoyable side note they had paper cups and paper containers for my sour cream while i like saving the environment they gave me a plastic lid and straw to go with my paper cup so i don't understand how i'm saving the environment they also had no baja blast options on their kiosk but had three options working on their machines overall just not a great experience and probably would only go again if i had too and there was no closer taco bell read more

Cmon people can we stop the hate here? Just recently I was at this Taco Bell after a day on the beach. I like how the location is so close to everything in Santa Cruz. Not a far bus or car ride to the joint. There are a lot of students here. This is the most affordable thing I can eat in the area. I must say despite the price being above what I see in San Jose, this place surprisingly gets a lot of foot traffic. The food is on point, I ordered a box and it met my expectations. As a Taco Bell Addict, I'm surprised the restaurant itself isn't too bad. Drawback: The bathrooms are outside so please be expected to wait. They do however need to be cleaned. The last few visits have been terrible. This used to be our favorite Taco Bell. They've been running out of things. Big items like cheese, lettuce, sour cream etc.... The food beans & meat are gummy & cold. They closed the one downtown Pacific Ave. & Laurel St. tonight we we're hungry for just taco's supremes. We received 2 burrito supremes with no lettuce and 6 more regular burrito supremes in place of out taco supremes with everything. It was almost $50. REALLY.....? No more Mexican pizzas. I am giving 2 stars simply because when I dined in my order was correct, tasted good, and workers were kind, but I think they are very careless with the to go orders. They messed up my Crunchwrap Supreme order on 3 different occasions!! The first 2 times they did not put the crunchy shell inside so it was completely floppy and constructed so poorly. The 3rd time, rather than receiving a Crunchwrap, I was given NACHOS? I should have checked the bag prior to leaving but didn't think about it. This restaurant doesn't slack when it comes to fast food chains, it's pretty consistent with their flavors and you can see them make everything as you're ordering, which is cool. They always make everything only after you order so their food is always great! The only bad thing about this place is that it can take a while to get your food sometimes... probably because they always only have one person making the food, while the line for this place goes out the building.. The rest of the nightmare included; 2 NEWBIES: 2 of the 4 staff brand new and out of their league, DELETED: our order was deleted from their system after 1 hour, BEANS: they ran out of beans, the main ingredient of our vegetarian burritos, IGNORED: they kept making orders MUCH newer than ours, BEGGING: even after we begged them to make our food! Finally they made our bean burritos, WITHOUT beans!!? And as they handed them to us, one guy said they were vegetarian, The other who MADE them said they had chicken. Yes, they had chicken, not beans, not vegetarian. OVER 1 HOUR after arriving we left with a refund, no food. Nothing can make up for the time wasted, the frustration, the hunger.
