Another stop on the Taconic tour! We went down the ruddy, muddy, dead-end farm road to find this place and unfortch... it was closed for the winter. (It seemed like it was open from the website but there was a handwritten sign that it was closed for now.) We were, however, able to peep the sculptures and pieces that are out by the road and by the entrance to the property. I will def be back in spring so that I can walk the full grounds and enjoy ALL the art in full! read more

We visited this place yesterday and the sculptures are rather fascinating. There are many of them and they're on the grounds of the sculptor's home. Most of the sculptures (all of which are *huge*) are of people, some of which are just faces. The grounds are located very high above the Taconic State Parkway, which I've always thought is the loveliest highway in this region. There's a $10 per car charge to visit the grounds and the sculptor was very friendly. Note that you may only visit on Saturdays & Sundays and between the hours of 10-5. I recommend calling in advance, in case the sculptor will be out-of-town. We only spent about a half-hour walking around the grounds and we were easily able to see everything during that time. read more

It's at the end of the gravel road, the sculptures are rather titillating, and the talented artist (Mr. Kanwit) is a curmudgeonly well-bearded bear who might berate you off his property. Really, what more could you ask for? There's no sign for fees or hours, but it is $10 per car the hours at 10-5pm. read more

Such a cool thing to see: one artist's pretty consistent vision and creativity. Not to mention the hand-built stone house! Roy Kanwit, the artist himself, greeted us and was fun to talk to. We decided $10/car isn't enough and paid $10/head. Artists need our support! Especially someone this generous. Way to go, Roy! read more

This is a wonderful place for a weekend getaway. The owners are a couple, the husband Ron is a sculpture artist, while his wife Mary takes care of the garden. Really appreciate the details and creation of the sculptures that Ron made. Myst visit again some other time. read more
