During the spring and summer months, once a month, the Vietnamese night market springs into life…read more Local aunties and uncles toil away in makeshift kitchens to bring a taste of their home to the community. Pho, bahn mi, and milk tea are the tip of the iceberg of what's offered here. There's a plethora of delicious food options, loads of vendors and lots of people. They got a band playing in the main thoroughfare and karaoke towards the tail end of the night. We tried a smattering of dishes, ranging from mini shrimp pancakes, scallop noodles served in the shell, Takoyaki and meat skewers, grass jelly and lotus sticky rice. Each one very fresh, lots of flavor and a good price for the portion. The only dilemma being parking and the crowds. It's gotten very popular as of late, so if you don't go early they can run out of food. During our brief stint, they were out of sesame balls and onigiri, with lots of places running low on supplies. It's a fun experience and worth a try if you manage to get a chance to come there. It's a great community deserving of the popularity and it's a great fundraiser for the local church. Go in with an open mind and enjoy the adventure!

I tried a little bit of everything and took some food home for tomorrow! I will definitely be back next year as everything I ate was delicious and I ate until I was stuffed. The music was hopping, the vendors were friendly and quick considering the crowd (which was insane by the time we left two hours later) and the food was reasonably priced.

We were…read moreable to see the Big Pink house through the fence, but my wife forced me to turn the car around before we got to the driveway because of the No Trespassing signs. I didn't blame her because I'm not looking to get shot. I love The Band, but I'm also seen the movie Deliverance so we turned around. I'm not sure how friendly the current occupants of Big Pink are, but I'm not sure the neighbors are too keen on visitors driving down Parnassus - it feels like someone's private driveway. UPDATE: I see from Kathleen D.'s review from 2014 the current owners (Don and Sue) are friendly and actually rent out Big Pink for others to stay in. However, I notice the website (https://bigpinkbasement.com/) has updates from 2015 and I wasn't sure what the current situation was like in 2024. I reached out on the website's Contact Us form and here's the response I received: "Hi Julian, Yes you may come down the road at your own risk. A neighbor put up the signs. We are still renting, the link to VRBO is on the big pink basement website. There is a minimum of 3 nights. If you have trouble booking please let me know. All the best, Susan LaSala"

My only wonder is without GPS back in the day did Bob Dylan or THE BAND find this location cause we used it and damn it wasn't easy. Keep in mind this is someone's home now so have some respect and don't start a Bon Fire and blaze up a few joints out front. Admire it and move on.

The highlight of our Mass visit was for one thing only. Well....not really. But since we were…read morealready here, we tried to make more out of our trip and do double-duty by visiting the Norman Rockwell Museum- known for his quaint and sleepy town paintings. No such luck as we had to pre-book our visit. For us, when it comes to Autumn, it's all about visiting those picturesque and charming small towns. It's certainly not the Woodstock, NY we've visited countless of times- but this town is quaint in a different sorta way. Plus coming here for our Day road trip, was a lot closer than what we thought and made the cut nicely. The mountains in The Berkshires was what sets the scene! Plus the town of Stockbridge Itself, offers a picture-perfect backdrop- all thanks to the captivating Autumn foliage! It seemed like it should've been relatively simple to take back roads (which it was) heading back home. We started hitting the road by 6pm with nighttime approaching FAST, drove through ridiculous dense back roads on Rt 23 with no light poles, pitch dark at that- which almost felt like we were in the classic 'Near Dark' movie with Jason Vorhees popping out any time. AND had practically zero gas. Hubs had everything under control though and used his navigation skills like a damn pro. Luckily, our near-empty tank held us over til we got to the next town before hitting the NY border. Even with our short visit, it almost felt like we were million miles from home. We caught the feel of the town enough to want to actually visit again and stay longer because it is artsy- and inclusive to all.
