My boyfriend and I hopped into our car and head on over. This barn silo turned is part of the Emerson Spa and Resort. The nice part is that if you're not staying at the resort you can see the attraction. To view the exhibit, you need $5 cash. Thankfully the show runs pretty regularly so if you need to run somewhere for cash you can. The viewing room for the kaleidoscope is pretty small. You can either lean against some cushions and stand, or you can lay on the floor. We ended up standing as there was a group of younger kids on the floor already. The gift shop has a lot of cool items in it too so definitely check that out while you're there!!

And believe it or not, this gigantic fork in the road is actually located on a fork in the road... We went when it had just snowed and it made it even shinier and grander.. I recommend reading the story online on how this giant fork came to be. The only down side to visiting this landmark is that there is no designated parking. We parked in front of some houses and then had to run across the street. So please look both ways!

(It seemed like it was open from the website but there was a handwritten sign that it was closed for now.) We were, however, able to peep the sculptures and pieces that are out by the road and by the entrance to the property. I will def be back in spring so that I can walk the full grounds and enjoy ALL the art in full!

We had parked about 12mints away, which was like over an hour walking down, which just seemed dangerous and we did not want to take the chance. On our way driving back down, we saw State Troopers ticketing ALL the cars illegally parked.. (Not against it, but def not what you'd want to walk back to after "having a descent time."). Overall, it's like going on a adventure. As mentioned in comment above, locals just look annoyed by everyone surrounding the area. This should def be more organized. & also, be very cautious with the narrow rows and dangerous curves.

Kingston, NY - if you like historic neighborhoods or walking tours, this is a nice little day trip…read morein the Hudson Valley. The Stockade district is an eight-block area in uptown Kingston that's the original site of a 17th century Dutch settlement, and still has many preserved stone houses and buildings from those times. I downloaded a map and brochure from the Friends of Historic Kingston's website (fohk.org) and did our own self-guided tour of the 1658 Stockade district. There is also another guide for the Rondout district by the waterfront. FOHK offers guided walking tours on certain days between May-October as well. This part of Kingston is a cute artsy town with some nice restaurants, shops, and cafes, and was lovely to stroll around. There are too many good restaurants to name (Yelp can help you with that!), though Hoffman House is notable for being a tavern set inside a 1679 stone house. I also recommend checking out Rough Draft Bar & Books (a cozy cafe-bookshop with brews both caffeinated and carbonated) and the delightfully eclectic Kingston Consignments. Kids especially will also enjoy visiting the Volunteer Fireman's Hall & Museum! Sadly, it was closed on the day we went even though they were advertised being open, as I gather their hours are rather haphazard.
