Went here with my dad and had an amazing experience. Got up to the taco truck and ordered and it came out within minutes. They gave us a salsa verde and a salsa rojo. Both very taste and not super spicy. The steak burrito was my favorite thing. It had so much flavor and was huge for only 10 dollars. My next favorite was the Birria tacos and then the carne asada tacos. I will definitely be coming back again and again for lunch. This place is amazing and they do it right. The food came out really fast which is a huge plus. I would eat here again if I just wanted authentic tacos quick. We got some horchata, a chicken burrito, and chicken tacos. The tacos were pretty solid, the meat was flavorful. It was about 75% cilantro though. The burrito was okay, but not especially good. It had rice and beans that were fine tasting, and the chicken which was good. There was a LOT of lettuce, so most of the bites ended up pretty bland. The top half of the burrito was wrapped really loosely and completely fell apart in its packaging and had to be scooped together again which was irritating. The horchata was a little watery but fine. Overall everything was ... fine! But nothing made me want to come back again, except for how quick they made it! read more

My favorite taco truck in Des Moines for authentic street tacos. The meat is always flavorful and they don't skimp on the salsas, cilantro, lime wedges, or roasted chiles and grilled onions. It was super cold on a Friday night when I called and placed an order for 12 tacos. They said they would be ready in 10 minutes and by the time I bundled up and got to the truck, they were ready to go. They smelled so good on the way home it was hard not to eat one on the way. Luckily, I leave super close so they made it home with none missing. I got 4 carne asada, 4 al pastor and 4 cabeza tacos. It was the first time I had cabeza tacos and they were EXCELLENT. The meat was super tender, moist and flavorful as though marinated several hours and slow cooked to lock in the flavor. That's going to be my go-to from now on. I had the carne asada and al pastor tacos before and while they were as delicious as I remembered, the cabeza tacos were by far the stand-out for me. They have other items on their menu, like burritos, quesadillas and tortas but I love their tacos so much that I've never tried their other menu items. Tacos were $2 each. I was really hoping to be blown away based on the reviews I've read thus far. I ordered the "seasoned" pork (1 flour and 1 corn tortilla) and also the lengua taco (1 flour and 1 corn tortilla). I wasn't that impressed! These tacos had no flavor at all, even when I added the accompanied red and green sauces. Had to add some of my own seasoning to it. The tacos tasted great after I added flavor to it. The lengua taco with the corn tortilla (post-seasoning) was really good - very tender meat. read more

I've only learned about it this past year as I just moved to the DSM area but quickly found out how popular this truck is to locals. I understand the hype. Authentic, delicious, cheap (price not quality) easily accessible. They are always busy, rain or shine and the service is FAST. My favorite are the head meat tacos. It's love at first bite for sure. Fresh ingredients - plenty of onion and cilantro, they also include aliced radishes and grilled onions as well as one or two peppers on the side (even for someone who loves spicy food, those peppers pack a punch ) Their selection of meats is great for those looking for something classic or slightly outside the ordinary chicken, beef, etc. Please do yourself a favor and check them out. read more

ALWAYS. AWESOME. This is my go-to taco truck in Des Moines! They're super quick and super delicious! All taco orders come with grilled onions and jalapeños, and both salsa rojo and salsa verde. I always get the cabeza (side note: this is one of the few places that actually have cabeza and is done well!), the lengua, and the tripas (extra crispy!). They literally NEVER disappoint! They are cash only so come prepared! Tacos are about $1.50-$2.50 each depending on your meat. All come standard with cilantro and white onions but you can add toppings like cheese, lettuce, and sour cream for an up-charge. They're closed on Sundays but are usually around pretty late in the evening all the other days. They have other menu items like burritos, tortas, flour tacos, and quesadillas but I have only ever stuck with the tacos although I have heard good things about it all. More than that they have amazing tacos and they do them the right way! Lengua tacos are soo fire! Also the red salsa is everything! It's hot, it's smoky, and very flavorful. I have visited this place once (or twice) a week since arriving in Des Moines. So I will say it is my go to place for good tacos. It is cheap and the location is close to my job. They have a variety to choose from. Tortas, burritos, quesadillas.. The flavor reminds me of tacos I had in the Mission District in San Fran or when I visited San Diego. They set up picnic benches so we can enjoy the weather and eat! As for their menu, it's pretty simple. They have tacos for $1.50 and burritos and quesadillas for $6.00. Their tacos are pretty small, so I would recommend getting two. On the other hand, their burritos are huge! So, I would recommend splitting that. Although it still wasn't too filling.... Choices of meat include beef steak, pork, lengua (cow tounge), and something else. Their food isn't as good and authentic as I hoped. Let me just start by saying, I love this taco truck, as does my best friend/roommate. When we want tacos on the Drake side, this is our default choice. The service is always fast, the tacos are inexpensive, and they are absolutely delicious. They are never out of anything when we visit. My roommate loves lengua and cabeza, and many taco trucks run out of these more exotic meat choices as the day wears on. Not so for this truck in my experience. They are awesome, inexpensive, and most importantly, delicious!!! This is a food truck and is located right next to Advanced Auto Parts. While taco trucks might cause you to hesitate put your concerns aside. While it's not traditional to eat at a food truck the food here is very good despite the fact that you have to eat it in your vehicle.
