Driving down Pico I spotted and stopped to try Tacos El Compita. I had one cabeza taco and bean and cheese burrito (with onions and cilantro). The cabeza was tender and seasoned perfectly. As plain as a bean and cheese burrito may sound, it was actually delicious. I found the food to be so good that I went back a few days later while in the neighborhood. I like this place, is it my favorite? No, but the food is good and close to home. It is a little small in side and there's no public restrooms just in case you need them, but we wanted our food to go anyway. Service was speedy and the place was clean, nice little whole in the wall looking spot so the food was seemed pretty authentic. We ordered the tacos dorados and the tacos birria. I wish the tacos dorados would've actually been crunchy, the flavors of the birria and consommé were good though, and I did like the way they added the onions cilantro and hot sauce to them. Don't let the ruff appearance fool you. I had a carne asada burrito. Delicious! Filled with a lot of meat, fresh whole beans, fresh rice, plenty of salsa. I prefer the green but the red is also dynamite! Also had 2 alabaster tacos, which were very good. Wife had a vegetarian burrito, she loved. Service was pleasant. Prices are in line with other places. Our food came with a side of lemon, and cucumber. My wife says the food and salsa tasted the same as she remembered. Onions, cilantro and spicy salsa! I ordered rice and beans too, but sadly they were forgotten with my togo order, however, I wasn't too bummed, cause the flavor of the tacos helped me forget allll about em! Lol. The tacos were very good! Hit the spot! Oh! I also had a Horchata! It was a bit on the sweeter side, but definitely helped with the heat of the salsa on the tacos! Service was great! My family and I order from here all the time, we usually get the tacos Dorados de Birria or the QuesaBirria Tacos. Usually with a side of the Birria Consomé to dip them(almost like a French Dip sandwich). As soon as you get it in the car, you can smell the cinnamon - there's almost a quality like an Indian Curry to it. There's layers to the flavor. They're always quick. The order is always right. The corn tortillas were unnecessarily dry/crispy and meat was also pretty dry, even after adding the salsa/lime/etc. Can confirm the pollo is especially dry. Service is great, and the food is amazing. Especially the red sauce, but the only upsetting part is that they charged me extra on my payment without telling me. The woman cashier told me that the total was $57 and some change. When I checked my bank account, she charged me $60 flat. I don't think it's right that they would charge me extra without mentioning it to me. Make sure to get your receipt to make sure they don't charge you extra. if you're looking for legit mexican food in all of its greasy flavorful glory, this is the right place. the food here is cooked to perfection with the right textures, taste, and authenticity of los angeles mexican food. i came here for a trending dish: tacos dorados with consomé. consomé is a beefy and fatty beef soup type deal that you dip fried tacos in (tacos dorados). i like to squeeze lemon and use the red sauce in the taco by opening it up, then dipping it not too generously, u don't want it to disintegrate. the fried taco holds up well to the consomé because it is fried in beef fat, giving it that red color. in love with this! and a great price $$$, i could easily spend all my money here but i need to be healthy lol. the consomé has an incredible flavor with hints of like cinnamon and beef marrow, it's just great. parking is in the lot, easy. the woman who works the cashier and the cook are very friendly and informative. great spot :) read more

I ordered: * Asada Tacos ($3/each): The asada was juicy and the tortillas were perfectly crisp. * Chile Verde Tacos ($3/each): The chicken was tender and similar to the asada tacos, the tortillas were the perfect degree of crispiness * Asada Burrito ($12): Perfect!
