Everything's made by hand here, and I saw the owner purchasing his meat at the famous meat market just a block down the street -- so I know it's top-quality meat, not junk like some other places try to pass-off. After I discovered this place I ate here almost every day on my trip!!!! TIP -- I recommend you park in the neighborhood side-street if you can't find parking up front. OR let the parking-guy flag you in and tip him a few pesos for the help :) DON ARNIA -- I CAN'T WAIT TO COME BACK!

El Mariachi Cantina y Cocina…read more Came in on a Friday night with a group of 5, no reservation and we were seated immediately. The ambiance is fun and vibrant with live music. They were very busy so the service was a slow. However the food, drinks, and music made up for it. We ordered mangonadas, a cazuela, and margaritas, they were all very good. We shared french fries and guacamole as appetizers and they were good as well. As an entree we ordered a parillada, it was a solid choice and I would definitely reccomend it. Estaban muy ocupados por lo que el servicio fue lento. Sin embargo, la comida, las bebidas y la música lo compensaron. I made a reservation several hours prior to our arrival and even with that they did not have our table let alone the area we wanted. our server took for what seemed like an eternity to come greet us. not to mention they also took forever to take our order and the guest were tended to who had arrived later than we had. the meals we had were okay, a little bland and not much flavor. I will say they have a phenomenal spot for a great view of the cathedral of Guadalajara. I can assure you the I why they have business because of the view. when it was time to close the check we had a couple of hurdles. at first the machine died while we were closing the check and so we were not sure if they transaction had gone thru. so they somehow convinced us to run the card again and then we checked our bank and both charges had cleared but on their terminal it did not say that. so we asked for a refund to which the server that was helping us stated or showed no knowledge of how to process a return. then the second terminal died and we were in the middle of a return. so we wait some more to verify that the returned had processed. so we go back to our seats and wait. several minutes later the server comes back and simply tells us that we were good to go that it was all taken care of. no receipt. no physical proof shown to us to certify this. so we check the bank it had not gone through to which is normal because refund don necessarily process that quick. so we asked for a receipt. the dissatisfaction is in the fact that they never offered to provide us the proper documentation to have proof of the series of events. like if the servers word counted as proof. mind you the check was $1,875.00 peso which is a pretty decent check. needless to say.. we could of been out double the amount and they would of not done anything about it. beware.

The place is is wall to wall tables and they were all filled when I went. They have table clothes (not fancy, but nice) and fried torillas (like chips, except full rounds) on the table with three kinds of salsa. The service was good and the food came out lightening fast. I am a vegan and I went because Yelp says that it is vegan friendly.... which is hard to find in Guadalajara. I only saw one vegan option, which were potato enchiladas. They were good, but they did not blow me away.

We had cafe de olla and some dishes that made for an amazing brunch. We ordered a plate of Arrachera with tortillas and Bistec Encebollado (steak with onions) with beans. On the same plate we had chicharrones en salsa, a breakfast staple in this city. To balance the heavier dishes we had a Jugo Verde drink made from fresh pineapple and parsley. The staff were so friendly, we felt at home with the kind approach and nice ambiance. The decor is traditional and tasteful, we had such a fun experience. We dream of this breakfast and want to return with our sons soon. Try some amazing food here next time you're in Guadalajara, Jalisico Mexico!
