After having a tasty snack at Pizza Pilgrims, went to the two story Rolling Stones store which was my favorite place on Carnaby Street. A bunch of boutique shops and found one bathroom and a drinking fountain. There was an old English style red phone booth containing an unspeakable object on the floor inside, good conversation piece for the rest of my trip. Welcome to London.

For any one of my friends traveling into London I always recommend veering off a little to Carnaby. Over the years some shops have come and go but some of my favorites remain open. I'm a huge Great Frog lover and their shop is nearby, also for us rock n rollers I can't help stopping into The Rolling Stones Uk store. Lots of major branded stores but also cute local vendors and stores. It's a very walkable street and safe. Plenty busy so come earlier in the day to beat the crowds. Another pro tip is catching a reservation at dishshoom down here as I've found it easier to snag a reservation here than at their other locations. Plenty of dining options though and local stalls like Starbucks and Joe & the juice. It's a touristy street of shops but I love it - definitely bookmark this area on your must shop / see list when on this side of town.

By far, the prawn toast with the chili sauce was the best item we tried. We sat at a booth in the back which felt a little upscale without feeling stuffy. If you sat near the front, it would give more of a food hall feel. Both dog and baby friendly! The servers were quick, friendly, and helpful in providing recommendations for popular items.

This was our first food hall experience out here in London, so I really didn't know what to expect. Arcade's dining system is definitely something we weren't really accustomed to, but honestly it worked out pretty well despite its first impression as being chaotic. Being able to see every vendor's menu from your phone was very convenient instead of having to walk around, but walking around wouldn't be a practical option anyway as the whole place is pretty small and densely packed. Anyway, we ordered shawarma fries and Nepali chili dumplings. The fries were honestly really good, though the portions were pretty small. The dumplings were hefty and also good too, but not great in terms of value. Not sure how "authentic" Tipan Tapan is when it comes to Nepali food, but hey, at least I can say I've had Nepali food before at least once. Speaking of good/bad, the selection here is pretty underwhelming. My wife and I weren't exactly impressed by all the offerings the vendors had to offer which is ironic considering how many vendors there are. Service is really fast though. We got our items and beer very quickly despite how busy they were. Love the lively atmosphere and environment/vibes, but personally wouldn't recommend it if you've visiting (like me).

The Market is picturesque with lovely flower carts by the entrances. Historically, Covent Gardens were the gardens for the convent. Today, the beautiful enclosed market hosts various vendors that change regularly. The market is a great way to connect with locals. We went to the market four times during our visit. On Sundays, various art vendors set up and we visited with a local fossil dealer and purchased a couple fossils. We loved our dinner in one of the nearby cafes. On Mondays, antique dealers set up and sell various treasures. My husband bought me a vintage bracelet. We also watched a quintet play in the atrium. We found a few reasonably priced souvenirs to take home for gifts. Plenty of great restaurants surround the Market. We ate at several places and enjoyed our meals. The Market always seems to be new and people were friendly.

I would not be able handle it so I ordered the Chicken Fried Rice off of the menu. The chef/cook didn't speak at all just evil eyed us as I had ordered off of the menu. He went in the back & looked like the Iron Chef as he made the Chicken Fried Rice from scratch. I was impressed at his skills & thought glad I ordered off of the menu! Took it to-go or as they say 'take-away' & it was bland & awful. I was shocked at how all of the ready-to-go food looked greasy in full-flavor in the food partitions & mine was blah. My conclusion was either you eat the greasy food court stomach ache food or bland blah. Waste of money, especially knowing that a couple of blocks away I found an absolutely fantastic restaurant for the same amount.

Being hungry but wanting a simple meal, Wox looked interesting because of a buffet-like display of ready made dishes that could be quickly assembled. And it was clean/bright. For 5 Pounds, they offer a basic combination plate of rice or noodles, plus 2 other items. In my case I chose noodles with Malaysian spicy chicken and sweet & sour chicken. (for some reason, all the proteins were chicken that day). I wasn't expecting much, but the Malaysian selection was very spicy and the S&S was tender and bold. Usually Asian buffets are bland and sometimes tough from sitting too long. This was a nice surprise... possibly like the food stall places in Singapore. Not fancy, but good. There are a couple of seats inside and 2 small tables out front. You wouldn't take a date there, but if you want to grab some food on the fly, you might try Wox. They have a lot of other dishes on the menu, in addition to the small buffet offering.
