My first time here and it was very enjoyable. The dining room is clean and colorful. They have both booths and tables. I was seated quickly and given a menu . Chips and salsa came out quickly after. The lady that was my waitress was very helpful and attentive. They have lunch specials until 3:00 so I chose a beef fajita burrito that came with beans and rice. The burrito was a good size and came out warm. Beans and rice were typical of most places. The burrito has lots of green peppers. The only issue was the beef was not very tender and had a lot of fatty pieces. I would give the burrito a 3 but otherwise a 4 for everything else, especially the service. There are two prices on the receipt, the cash price being cheaper. I will go back and try a different entree as they had a great selection. read more

OMG! This place was amazing! I was a bit skeptical about visiting because I visited a highly rated Mexican restaurant 3 min away and I was not pleased. BUT THIS ONE HERE, they doing it! The vibes are authentic, from music to decor to the amazing flavors. This is real Mexican food, not elevated Taco Bell. I can taste the love in the food! . Great fresh homemade Mexican food! Very friendly service. Food came hot and warm chips with great salsa with flavor and not hot.

They have the sweetest staff, best Margaritas, crispy warm chips, good salsas, and clean, comfortable space; we love coming for those. But their foods have gone completely sideways and we so wish they'd get themselves back to simple good Mex; we know they can do it. Our last meals here were inedible and had been prepped far, far ahead of serving. They've begun using a queso fresco in the Chile rellenos which doesn't go melting gooey but just turns into a hard, flavorless knot. The reheated egg batter was rubbery, sauce tasteless. Refried beans have always been soupy but now even the black beans are bland. Tamals consist of some sort of extruded chicken mixture, like a manufactured chicken paste. This is more of a 3.5 star but hard to round it up to a 4. Service is okay. We were only checked on once by the server and had to go to the register to get the check and a to go container. The food is not horrible but it is also not the best we have ever had. The beans and rice have absolutely no flavor at all and could honestly do without. The hubs ordered 3 tacos, 2 asada and 1 pastor. He wishes he had gotten all 3 of them as pastor. I ordered chicken enchiladas. I always forget to say no lettuce as it is always way too much. lol The chicken was moist but I didn't care for the red sauce on top (more of a texture thing). We would probably go back but I would definitely try something different. If you like lots of cheese in your food with low quality ingredients then this place is for you. Ordered vegetarian quesadillas but only came with rubber like mushrooms and spinach pieces so big you could not even cut with a knife. And soooooo much cheese. Took one bite and explained it was not that good but still charged me $12.86 for it. Not great customer service. Never even offered to re- make a new order. Their chips are super thick which ends up filling you up. Too bad because my family lives close by and this is such a cute establishment and I am always for supporting local businesses. Let's just get the obvious out of the way: This is authentic Mexican food for people who believe Taco Bell is Mexican food. This is way North and far from Texas non-TexMex food. This is some Authentic CarolinaMex. The good news is, you know exactly what you are getting. The bad news is, some previous reviews fail to acknowledge this tidbit and just aren't fair. On with my review. UberEats flashed a "deal" across my phone screen just as I was wondering what to eat for supper and visions of fajitas danced in my head. I went with something no one with the word "Mexico" in their name could mess up: Fajitas Texanas. I rounded this classic dish out with a side of pico, side of sour cream and "cheese dip" just in case the chef had a massive love of spicy flair and the obligatory large Horchata to wash it all down with. While waiting for this to arrive, I searched the internet to see if we were getting a Buc-ee's, HEB or a Whataburger any time soon. Sadly the answer is still "no" :( Upon arrival, my Horchata was missing. Darn shame because I haven't had any in a while and was looking forward to that. The rest of my order was present though. Admittedly I don't feel the beans and rice were anyone's best work but nothing that would make me seethe with disgust. The steak, chicken and shrimp, as well as peppers and onions, were cooked properly and it was a nice surprise to find sautéed tomatoes in the mix. The cheese dip was cheese dip. No jalapeños, just cheese. Pico had a definite CarolinaMex taste to it- Tiny amount of jalapeño, discernible cilantro and zero hint of lime juice. It's just how they do it here in Cackalackey and again, you have to anticipate it. Despite the absence of Horchata, this is a place I'll likely order from again. Recently had lunch with three ladies at the Tacos Mexico restaurant in Fuquay-Varina. I had a lunch #4 chimichanga which wasn't much to it so I added a side of beans. We were running out of salsa and chips so I asked the hispanic lady who already had an attitude like I was bothering her to even ask for anything if we could have more, she was not friendly. So when our tickets came there was an extra .89 charge for the chips and .89 charge for more salsa on my ticket! I have been to many mexican restaurants before and NEVER have been charged for extra chips and salsa!! So my $8.59 lunch ended up costing me $14.50!! The small bowl of beans was over $3 but to have had extra charges tacked on for the chips and salsa, I will never go back to this restaurant again plus I definitely have had much better mexican food elsewhere. read more

Ordered delivery and food was delivered warm. Chicken Chimichangas and ground beef tacos were seasoned perfectly and delicious. They forgot my side of sour cream that I paid for and utensils. Food would have been over the top with my sour cream. Chimi included rice and tacos included beans and there was a big descrepency on the portions that I have never seen at the competion. Finally the senior lady came to take our food order..I don't know if the food was good or not... because by the time it arrived..I had lost my appetite for the meal...I ate a few bites and asked for carryouts...I was only in town because of a festival Fuquay-Varina was hosting....this was a first time for me,, to be treated as such... OMG, if you live in the Fuquay-Varina area and haven't visited Tacos Mexico, go there right now! You have an amazing hidden gem in this restaurant. No, it's not fancy. No, it's not hip and trendy. But if you like amazing Mexican food served to you by friendly people, then this is the place for you! Tacos Pastor are da bomb!!! Also, you have to try the pollo con crema. They put something in the sauce that elevates the food 10 levels. It has a creamy, smoky flavor that remind me of chipotle in adobo sauce. Also, I highly recommend you try the horchata. I've had a lot of horchata over the years, and this is by far the absolute best I've even tasted. Keep these people busy, and keep this place going! We will be back many, many times. read more

I have to agree with the first reviewer. This is the best Mexican food that I have eaten in Fuquay Varina. My only complaint about the place is that it was too darn busy. Very reasonable prices (plus we had a BOGO coupon). We had two different combos and both were excellent. Can't wait to go back and try something different. Walking in to a little Mexican place in Fuquay, I wasn't expecting to enjoy this place as much as I do. There is usually a wait for a table which is always a good sign. The free queso and chips with the mention of Yelp was a nice appetizer. The chips were very fresh and the queso was a good portion. This time I ordered lunch special #8 ACP with an option of flour or corn tortilla. The rice was nice and fluffy. It's always refreshing to have fresh rice when that's the majority of the main course. I've been to other Mexican restaurants that use old rice and try to cover with cheese (recipe for disaster). The chicken was very good quality and well seasoned. The only complaint is that they do not have fresh lemon, as I ordered water with lemon. I was offered a fresh slice of lime and it turned out to be good. I frequent this restaurant and do take out orders often and I'm always pleased with my food and service. read more

I've got to be honest... I typically do not go to a lot of Mexican restaurants. Nothing against Mexican cuisine in fact I love it when it is done well. Therein lies the problem. Most Mexican restaurants I have tried just barely manage to achieve mediocrity. I have managed to find good ones in some of the areas I have lived in but had just about given up here in Fuquay . Then...we decided to try this place. I am floored. Tacos Mexico is an absolute gem. First, the menu. If they don't have it....you can't possibly need it. It is huge and has everything you would expect from a small tacqueria (which it looks like, it is a deceptively small place) but then it is filled with all kinds of specialty dishes featuring beef, chicken, pork, steak, fish, shrimp and even vegetarian dishes. The menu was so varied that it took 15 minutes to decide which dishes to try. We ended up ordering Fajitas Texanas (fajitas with beef, chicken and shrimp) , chicken tacos and a shrimp taco salad. Fajitas were accompanied by refried beans, rice, guacamole salad and pico de gallo. I normally do NOT eat fajitas rolled into a tortilla as the individual flavors seem to get lost and a bit "muddy". After sampling the individual components I decided to throw caution to the wind and make a quick little burrito. Amazing! Fresh, clean flavors that complimented each other in a most fantastic way! Totally changed my attitude towards restaurant fajitas. Even the beans and rice were well seasoned and flavorful! The shrimp taco salad was delicious with perfectly cooked shrimp and a wonderful lightly crispy shell. Chicken tacos were excellent! Delicious food, reasonable prices and large portions. This is now my "go-to" Mexican restaurant. read more

DELICIOUS!!!! We were in the area and wanted Mexican food. We decided to give it a shot. I am so glad we did! WOW!!! This will be our new "go-to"place. I normally don't like to fill up on chips but the salsa was so good. I could not stop! They were very generous with both chips and salsa. We waited a little longer than usual for our meals but I would guess they take their time in preparing because we were blown away. I had The Three Musketeers: grilled chicken, beef and shrimp. Honestly, each bite from start to finish was moist and delicious. They even made the salad taste good! My other half ordered a steak burrito which was huge (took half home) and equally delicious.
