We had the Lunch Special #1 1Taco, 1 Chile Relleno, Refried Beans and Mexican Rice. Guacamole salad and Crema. The Chile Relleno was spectacular, a big and smoky grilled green chile, with great seasoned chopped meat stuffing and melted queso. The Refried beans were like ice cream, the Taco and the Mexican rice were very good. Also had the Fajitas Tejanas Platter, with big plump grilled seasoned shrimp, grilled and sliced carne asada and chicken breast, and a nice sautee of onions, tomatos, and green chiles. They forgot my elote and I had to wait an additional 10 minutes for them to bring it out.I had to put my own cheese in my tacos because there wasn't nothing but meat and onions, ( I asked for extra cheese and cilantro so im not sure how I ended up with no cheese.) the juice for my birria tacos TASTED LIKE STRAIGHT WATER, and it didn't even look how it's supposed to look. I still said I wouldn't judge a book by its cover... me and my friend both tasted the tacos and it was by far the worst Mexican food we have ever had in our lives... there was also a lady who came in and had plastic in her burger. I have gone here about five times now and it is wonderful! I pretty much get seated right away and the food comes relatively fast. The taste is very good too. Salsa is a bit on the spicier side, but i like that. The place could use a bit of interior re-vamp but its not so bad that you would feel uncomfortable eating there. When they say authentic they mean it. The food was flavored and had just enough spice to let me know somebody in the kitchen knew what they were doing. It's not a fancy place but who cares about that when the food is as good as it is. My little ones even enjoyed it. Went there for lunch and had a great time. Server was fluent in English so no embarrassing ordering (or mistakes when served). They have complimentary chips and salsa which were served promptly. Did their Lunch Special #1 which was a crispy taco (beef) & beef chili relleno with refried beans and guac salad. Food was served within expectations for being the peak of the lunch hour. The relleno was not a stuffed poblano, but a bell pepper that was cut along the side and stuffed. It was not breaded in egg batter, but I wasn't looking for that. It was not that crazy open-faced pepper thing you get some places nowadays. Beef was tasty, but not over-seasoned or too salty. Server checked on me frequently enough to show attentiveness, but not that constant-interruption-for-no-good-reason effect. The check was anticipated and ready for me at meal's end. I have gotten in-and-out of Mexican joints faster, but this was well within tolerances for speed of service. Pros: -Great attitude with my attentive waitress -Chips & Salsa brought out promptly without having to ask -Tons of lunch specials (don't know about weekend, I forgot to look) -Parking is great Cons: -No bar area -Guac is too smooth (felt a little "processed"), no chunks of avocado, or traces of tomato or onion. -Beans a little under temperature, but tasted okay Other: Didn't visit the restroom, but if it's like the dining area, it would be quite clean. El Dorado is fast, tasty and fairly inexpensive. It's one of those places we go whenever my friends want a convenient meal out. They have a friendly waitstaff and many of them remember us. They do a good job tending tables and cleaning up but they many times seem understaffed. Their food is consistently good but their chips are all over the place in quality and taste. I love El Dorado. Specifically this location in Garner. I have tried the other locations and they are good but the Garner one is great for some reason. The waitstaff is friendly and quick. The food is always great and I have to say you shouldn't visit there without ordering their cheese dip as an appetizer. Cheese dip mixed with some of their salsa is like crack! The prices are also very reasonable. Myself and my girlfriend go there once or twice a week and for the two of us to share cheese dip and each have entrees and drinks we spend around $17 before tip. I've been coming here for the last 20 years and Mario still takes great care of my family every time we come in. I've never been disappointed with anything I've had here. Their queso dip is amazing. Stay Away! From first look el dorado looks like a hole in the wall, in most cases this is a good thing for finding good authentic Mexican food. However this was not the case. The inside was old, outdated and sketchy. We were seated to a semi dirty table with ripped up seats in the back. We were given old menus that were about to fall apart. When I recieved my food (simple nachos with cheese and jalapeños) it looked very unappetizing. The cheese on top of the soggy chips looked like regular shredded cheese that had been heated in the microwave; it had. There was also a little bit of chunky queso on the bottom of the plate that the chips were soaked in. The chips were not crisp, the queso tasted like it had gone bad and the jalapeños were stale. Not being able to finish even half of the disgusting dish I tried a bite of my brothers quesadilla. The tortilla and shredded chicken were dry but the inside was soggy and dripping. It is safe to say that I will never return to this wanna be Mexican restaurant. The only thing this establishment had going for it was the decent staff (although they were very slow with very little customers). For the past couple of weeks I've been craving for Mexican food so i decided to visit el dorado. I came here Monday for a nice sit down lunch with my mom. While we waited for our food we were served chips and salsa which was very good. The food came quickly, it was mediocre. While it tasted decent it kinda reminded me of Taco Bell!!! I do suggest this restaurant if you need a quick fix of Mexican food at an extremely low price ( our meal together was 10 dollars!!) however I'm pretty sure there are more tastier places than this one. read more

We were very pleased with the meal until about half way through when we found a hair on two different plates. We showed the waiter who then took them away, said nothing about it to us, he then brought our ticket, we paid for our meal and left. No explanation or sorry or anything. I went to lunch with my gf expecting a decent Mexican meal and came out with a terrible experience. The meat was unseasoned, the rice didn't taste like anything and the guacamole should not even be called guacamole. I swear there wasn't an avocado anywhere in there!
