The food here is sooo delicious! I had a carnitas taco. It was packed with good stuff. I could barely eat the one. The chips were obviously homemade and so tasty. The guacamole was also delicious. Also, very reasonably priced. $ The ambiance is small and simple but worth it!!!

I've heard some of the other locations are better, but this one on water street isn't the best. I might give it another chance during the daytime and update my review, but for now, it's def a solid 2. I put in a to go order at 7:30 (and they do close at 8, but we got there before 8 to pick it up - and if they didn't want to take the order, they could have just let us know). We ordered carnitas and beef tacos and quesadillas, plus chips and salsa. Pretty much everything in our order was wrong. The carnitas quesadilla was missing the carnitas meat. There were no beef tacos. The chips were seriously stale. And all of the tacos are the driest tacos I've ever eaten in my life - there's like nothing on them, not even cheese which you apparently have to pay extra for. Just a crap ton of cabbage for some reason - not good. Overall, just very not very good food - dry tacos, wrong items in order, and stale chips. Ps. the stale chips were actually my favorite part of this meal if that tells you anything.

Partially eaten... So you can see what's in it. Lengua taco. Cabbage, pinto beans, cilantro, onion, but on lengua no tomato unless you ask!

Straight out of heaven taqueria food. The white corn tortilla tasted so fresh like it was made in house. Turns out the tortillas are delivered daily. The lengua was perfect texture unlike any I've had before - very tender. Taste of lengua was beautiful. There's only one thing I can complain about - lengua taco didn't come with tomato even though their sign says tacos come with pinto beans, cabbage, cilantro, onion, tomato & salsa. Asked for the tomatoes after and I received them. They seem to get good tomatoes. My friend said it's the second-best taqueria in town. I look forward to trying the best the next time I am in town. You must dine here (or take away if you're one of those rona fearfuls). One taco was filling. I was ravenous upon arrival and have happy hour plans and dinner plans so I won't have two.

On the way back home we stopped by this little Taqueria restaurant. There's no parking spaces here, we parked over the bank since it's on Sunday, empty. The restaurant is clean, the salsa bar is right there with all the great stuff, the amazing thing is the chips all you can eat are there too. The chips and salsa here are the best anywhere, even better than Mexico or Cancun. So crispy, light, and the pico de gallo is excellent and fresh. I had the fish tacos, plentiful but a little surprised since the fish is not fried as all the places I've been, it's sauteed or steemed, no vegetables like shredded cabbage or anything, just lots of fish chunks and soft taco shell. Anyhow, it's fresh and delicious. Our other members ordered beef, pork tacos and they're so mouth watering too. There are so many young people like students coming to this place, so crowded and lucky we got the table to finish our foods quickly so others can sit. I tried the rice drink and it's like rice water and sugar, it's good but extremely sweet. This is the place I will visit after a long hiking day, it's wonderful and I love the chips and salsa here.

I was trying to help him out, as I'm in the hospitality business for high level profiles. He responded and told me he's an old guy, but very rude when I told him the two items and he just cut me off while I was talking . It was a chicken burrito with refried beans, no rice & carne asada fries. He also threw my receipt at me. I get it if you under pressure, but never take it out on a paying customer because you can't work well under pressure. He left a bad taste in my mouth with his bad attitude. I will not be coming back. Be kind to your customers especially i was trying to help you. Lol. The meat was overly cooked. The burrito still had rice in it. Fries were very oily. I still tipped him, even though he didn't deserve any of it. Bad service. Bad attitude.

It's also in a cool location, several other eateries and drink spots to check out. We had 2 super burritos that were customized (one no sour cream, one no beans, both with 2 meats. The crispy beef tacos (fam favorite), and a fish taco (too spicy for me!), oh and chips and salsa. Cons- the super burritos were supposed to come with guacamole, but neither did. Didn't think about it until my son asked, but we were pretty much done eating at that point. We also had to pay for chips and salsa. Never a fan of that. The bag of chips and the salsa containers were also small. If you're going to charge, you should make it worth it for the customer(s). With tip, it was just over $70 bucks in total. Overall we all enjoyed our meal. Next time I'll look for the guacamole earlier, to make sure we get it! The location is near my son's place, so we will likely be back!

Holy Mole Locally…read moreowned Oaxacan restaurant that prides itself on everything being scratch-made in-house, from the tortillas and salsas to their black mole (Mole Negro) that takes three (!) days to make. The Good: * Private parking lot with some street parking available * Reservations via Resy * Daily Happy Hour 2:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. * Dog-friendly covered outdoor seating * Indoor decor is beautiful, and we loved their branding. * Lots of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options * Full bar with local beers and ciders on draft * Complimentary chips and salsa! $3 for each additional refill, FYI. * Margarita was very strong but delicious. * The Tostada de Mole Amarillo was a delicious appetizer, but man, was it gigantic and hard to eat. * Their Mole Negro was delicious and might be the best rendition of this timeless sauce I've ever had. So much depth of flavor and very well-balanced with the umami, sweet, and savory. * Their Oaxacan rice was fantastic and full of a pleasant garlic flavor. The Meh: * No reservations between 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. * 3% credit card processing fee * Empanada de Mole Amarillo was bland and lacked seasoning. * This seems to be a trend lately with us, but the service always starts out strong and then ends on a whimper as we're ignored for long periods of time, especially at the end when you're just trying to pay and leave. The Ugly: * Outdoor space is adjacent to the main thoroughfare (Hwy 1) and can get noisy. Conclusion: Fantastic Mexican restaurant with elevated Oaxacan cuisine and a great bar program. Reminds us of a more affordable LUNA Mexican Kitchen.

After not being able to get in at a few other spots, this place didn't have a wait time. Let me get this out of the way first. Service was *excellent.* The interior of the restaurant almost looked like an old church with its arched ceilings and tiled floors. It lent to a very old Mexican Pueblo Town Vibe inside. The outdoor patio (after seeing it) almost made me wish we sat outside after seeing how bright it was out there. It was very dark inside compared to how it was in the patio area. So why the 3.5 stars? The food. Coming from East Side San Jose where Mexican food is plentiful and done well, I can't say that this place came close. The chicken inside the taquitos were so dry inside that I kept wondering if it was shredded chicken that sat out for a long period of time because the juice was sucked out of it. Now let's move onto the beans. I love me some refried beans and these tasted bland. I was so disappointed. The rice was good however I've had better. As for the Asado Rollos which were described to us as a chimichanga that is sliced up, I was also left wanting for more. Taste wise it was lacking. It had all the fillings in there but after having one slice, I was done. There was one thing that was the star of the show here. It was the complimentary chips and salsa which was refilled several times by the staff. These were addicting and probably could have just had these on their own.
