I didn't know what to expect and when I walked into the school, I was so impressed not only by how clean it is but how professional it looks as well as how busy it is. The "busy-ness" demonstrates that this is a trusted business where the public comes to get their beauty needs met! This was a great sign for me, since this was my first time. Issa is FANTASTIC! She has such a great personality, she was attentive, and really took her time making sure that I liked everything she was doing. It was a 7-hour spa day....and I felt so wonderful afterwards! She was patient, and even took extra care because of my multiple allergies and health conditions- including wearing a mask. I was so appreciative! I already have another appointment set with her for October 12 for another full spa day. For those that question going to a beauty school....these students take such care to make sure that you are satisfied and there are teachers everywhere. Issa had Marissa and Adonis assist her with the process of coloring and cutting my hair. She did such a phenomenal job! So happy I found this school!

While I already held several certifications, I was there to update and exceed my prior knowledge and abilities. I was offered the opportunity to update the very entry level certifications as I began my tenure. I was already preparing the mock-lecture I would need to submit as a teaching candidate. Then this opportunity was snatched away with the send-off that I was unqualified. When I inquired further, I was summarily dismissed and told to come back when I had completed the qualification. I later discovered, by speaking directly to the hire, that the job was given to a white student. I cordially asked him to share his experience. He detailed the exact certifications I was told I needed, and had held for years. Finally, I asked this man, fresh into the industry and confronting the certifications for the 1st time, if he already had his certifications. To which he replied that he was allowed to complete them after taking the job. Naturally I saved every record of this interaction. This company is a bullshit organization, which, in addition to apparently being populated by racists, has no problem failing its promises in supporting a student, contrary to what was stated as their supporting role in my education. Calls and emails that went unanswered for weeks, repeated inquiries left unresolved with no follow-up, people who support you leaving the company with no announcement or handoff of the students they support, and their issues, to other staff .... But if half of what's claimed in the self-congratulatory jerk-circle on LinkedIn is true, then one bad review shouldn't matter anyway. Clearly the possibility of a bad report was not of importance when I needed aid.

Pueblo community is a very hit or miss kind of college. The current director doesn't care much for…read moreprograms like art and music and has been trying to get more donations by "sprucing" up the college with great big unveils like the redesigned student center, the new building, the panther statue, and the fountain that they redesigned. On top of the pandering she's also attempting to guide the college into a medical themed era by focusing on upgrading the medical programs and putting all the money behind them. The education curriculum is a little hard to follow. Most of the students attending here are new and often haven't been taught how college worked. So was the case for myself a quite a few of the friends I made. The first year I went there, I wasn't even sure of what I was doing. The entire time I was pursuing my art degree, they tried to get me into other "more practical" degrees and classes. They even went out of their way to try and dissuade me from joining classes such as French and Figure drawing. The teachers come in two "flavors" if you will. The kind that are masters in their subject and are just generally excited, and the kind that would rather talk about their personal life and blame the student for not learning anything in class. If you attend here, you will, undoubtedly, get a mix of both. The art teacher I had for most of my classes was kind and open and loved to nurse talent and knowledge separately and catered per person. Mr. McKeen went out of his way to make sure all of his students got the best out of their time and education in his classes. Other teachers weren't as helpful. The French teacher started out kind and enthusiastic, but by the second semester she had become rough, rude, and blamed class short comings on the students and not her lack luster teaching. In a personal experience, I had an English teacher pull me out of class and tell me to quit or else she would fail me. I had come to her several times in the course and asked her to better explain certain things she wanted and even wrote one essay with the book in my hand the entire time to make sure the formatting was correct. Despite my attempts she gave me failing grades and humiliated me in class in front of other students. I was in a program that allowed me to go to College while finishing high school and this would have meant not graduating high school with the rest of my peers. She gave me nothing to work with and no solutions. The problem was brought up with the school itself which forced me to transfer to a different class where my essays were actually graded as above par. I fear the teacher only got minor repercussions for her actions and is still teaching there. The fact that teachers are allowed to take prejudiced against students like that and continue to work there baffles me.

Had an English instructor that told the class the first day that she did not want to be there, she wanted to be a poet but could not make a living at it. Half the class walked out that day. The other half that stayed, did the work, but she tried to give very low grades to all. I wrote a paper and she gave me an "F" on it, but what she didn't know was that a friend of mine had reviewed the paper before I turned it in and my friend had a master's degree in English. After I went to the head to the English department and complained, the grade was changed to an "A". I have been told by many English instructors that my writing is very high quality and that I should be writing fiction books.

Has last/current week's jobs physically posted outside her office too. I have found my automotive instructors to be extremely knowledgeable about the field and the industry. So far I've had Mr Gardener once a week in CCR, Mr Woerth for 101, and Mr McBride for 103. Each demonstrated not only knowledge, but a willingness to answer questions, and each seemed genuinely invested in student success. They made the content engaging, allowed us to challenge the many errors found in electude, and were understand when the system gave us problems trying to use the digital side. My biggest complaint would be the LRS papers, set to unlock on a Monday and then are due that Tuesday. We should be able to see the course paper subjects on course day one. Give us time to think about them instead rushing us last minute into a sloppy paper. Even with the instructor bypassing it a bit to tell us the paper requirements early, it feels rushed. 101 With Corey Woerth was the basics with a side of finer automotive detail and a lot of physics, all of which he knew very well. He had had a fun demeanor while teaching it. Engines class with Ian McBride is watching a math wizard remember measurements for 12 engines at the same time I'm genuinely impressed. While he teaches you how to build engines for street and racing. I think I have 102 electronics next with Mr Zach Bernal, I hear it is challenging like engine math was. I look forward to that challenge. I will likely update this review in some time.
