Stacy Skinner is an excellent instructor, fabulously organized, detail-oriented and communicative. She has an incredibly well-structured approach to their programs, sending out all components well in advance including course information, materials and updates/confirmations. In class, Stacy presents just the right balance of study, keeping a concise format but always allowing plenty of time for questions from all students. The interaction is very positive, and everyone always seems to learn something new from this dialogue. I did prefer the changes she has made to evolve the class format as it is currently. Stacy combined online training modules (along with exam prep questions at the end of each) that could be watched in advance at your own pace, with classroom practice sessions and hands on skills testing to ensure everyone mastered proper technique. Dividing the course content up in this manner was very nice for busy schedules and helped me complete the advance work at my convenience. The hands on training and skills testing sessions are very well monitored with lots of good tips provided. Toward the end of class, the exams are taken and cover a wide variety of class content that was thoroughly discussed. Later that day, Stacy emails your certification card along with closing correspondence and you're ready to go. She makes it as easy as possible for you to work the training into your schedule and get it done efficiently and effectively.

The VA CPR & First Aid website was extremely easy to navigate. The course was offered (and displayed in a calendar online) more than once on a weekend during the month making it easy for me to find a class that fit my schedule. Michelle (who taught the class) was very responsive when I asked her questions via email. I asked about dates and payment and usually got a response within 42 hours. As an instructor she was clear and friendly. The location of the course (tucked inside a commercial office space) was a doable drive from the Alexandria, VA area. If you take a course here please note there is a limited number of food options that are within walking distance (when you break for lunch). The closest place to get something to go is the Dunkin Donuts accross the street. I thought the price with the book (100 for the class, 20 for the book) was fair when compared to similar courses. I have taken the American Red Cross certification (more than once). I thought the way the American Red Cross presented the material 4 years ago to me was more hands on than the American Heart Association. Specifically, with the first aid course material. If my memory serves me correctly, I remember doing a lot more hands on demonstrations when I got certified by the American Red Cross than by the American Heart Association. In a nutshell its a good option if you need to get certified in a quick time frame and live in the northern VA area but if this is your first time getting certified specifically for first aid I would look at the American Red Cross' certification courses first.

From day one it was really easy to get a hold of him and to arrange for the class. I got lucky that my class ended up being just me so I got to ask any questions I had and Francisco would gladly answer them. The whole experience was an easy and very insightful. It's such a great spot to burn summer energy and also practice water skills. I found the lifeguards to be really attentive and constantly counting the swimmers in their sections. My kids absolutely love the big and small waterslides and rode them about 20 times over the course of an hour or two. Even just a few days before the Fourth of July holiday, because we were there first thing, there were no lines, and things ran smoothly. Second and third floors had lots of play space for kids. Fourth floor had few things around space. All the staff members were very friendly. Most of the area of was clean and maintained. We spent about an hour here. Seemed really popular with locals as many families were there with their kids.

The people that I have met and the lessons that I have learned could never be replaced and I highly recommend this camp for any child that is looking for more then just a trip to the woods. Key Points: 1. The staff really cares about the campers and they do their best to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Of course you may have your not so great counselors but those are balance out with tons of good ones. 2. The food is off the hook and the salad bar along with the new AC units in the dinning hall have made the meals more tolerable on those very hot days. 3. The program is filled with creative activities that the campers really enjoy and each week it's something new. 4. The Pool! On those 100 degree days nothing beats it. Things to work on: 1. I wish that the camp could have more extreme adventure activities such as paintball, mt. biking and archery. I understand that liability is an issue but that would be a great addition to the program. 2. I wish the camp ran for 2 week sessions like it did when I was a camper. Five days is just not enough.
