TL;DR: My birth should have been smooth, as I had no physical complications, but it ended up being traumatic because of how this doctor treated me. If you're looking for someone empathetic and respectful, I *cannot* recommend Dr. Noh. If you have time, here's the full story. I've sat with this for a long time, and I still feel a deep sense of anger and hurt from my experience, which is why I've ultimately decided to post this review even though it's been awhile. To be clear, I have no issue with Dr. Noh's technical knowledge or ability. He's experienced and competent in the clinical sense. But if you're looking for a doctor who genuinely cares about your experience, honors your preferences, and treats you with empathy and respect, this is *not* the doctor for you. Throughout my prenatal appointments, Dr. Noh was dismissive and impatient. Rather than providing guidance or reassurance to me when I asked questions as an anxious first-time mom-to-be, he would tell me I worried too much and that I should stop thinking so much. His attitude only worsened during my labor and delivery. I went into labor the day before Dr. Noh had a personal appointment, something I didn't even know about until I notified him that I was in labor. Rather than adjusting his plans or arranging for another provider to take over if necessary, he tried to control the timing of my delivery so it would fit his schedule. I would have had no issue with a different doctor stepping in. But instead, Dr. Noh insisted on staying involved and attempted to manipulate the process at every turn to suit *his* needs. He attempted to give me Pitocin even though my labor was progressing normally. He pushed the epidural relentlessly and repeatedly throughout my labor, despite me stating over and over that I did not want any medication. He even called me late at night while I was laboring and insinuated that things would go wrong if I didn't take the epidural, a tactic that felt fear-based and inappropriate. When he wasn't able to convince me with the epidural, he then pushed me to accept the IV medication throughout the rest of my labor. When I was about 12 hours into labor and extremely dilated but my water still hadn't broken, he refused to break it because we were nearing the time of his appointment and he didn't want anything to interfere with it. By some miracle, my water broke on its own about 45 minutes before his appointment. He then stopped by the hospital and told me in a *very* annoyed manner that if I felt the urge to push, I should *actively stop myself* because he wanted to deliver the baby after his appointment. I want to be clear: this was one of the most vulnerable moments of my life, and rather than feeling supported, I felt pressured, dismissed, and invisible. The pressure to take medications I didn't want, the scare tactics, the refusal to break my water, the blatant prioritization of his schedule over my needs. It all added up to an experience that was profoundly dehumanizing. If it weren't for the *nurses,* I'm really not sure how I would have gotten through this. They were my lifeline. They protected my wishes, soothed me, advocated relentlessly for me, and held the line when I couldn't. They were the ones who made me feel safe, seen, and supported. I'm writing this not out of spite, but because I hope that sharing my experience will help another expectant mother from having to go through what I did. If compassionate, patient-centered care matters to you, I would *strongly* urge you to look elsewhere. read more

Best obgyn I have ever met and encountered. Dr Noh delivered 4 of my siblings, and my third baby. His staff is always so kind and attentive, his office is peaceful and never rushed, I also have never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seen. Dr Noh went above and beyond for my baby, my self, and my husband. He is very communicative and dedicated to his patients. Before my delivery I developed hypertension, he took every precaution to make sure my baby and I were safe. After my delivery, I developed mastitis and he was so kind and caring, I didn't want to come in to the office due to feeling ill and he insisted so that he could make sure nothing was wrong. I'm very thankful that he is thorough and caught the infection before it got worse. Today at my final follow up, I cried in my car after leaving the office.. I truly felt sad that I would not be coming back for check ups and that my pregnancy journey had come to an end. Most doctors I have encountered do not show such personable care for their patients. In 2019 Dr. Noh made my pregnancy and birth experience enjoyable. I had to have a planned cesarean because my baby was breech. I trust him a lot and wanted to make sure he was the one to deliver my baby. When I could still feel the operation after my epidural the anesthesiologist and him did not hesitate to put me to sleep and get the job done. They were very caring and kind. He didn't try to turn my baby around because it was my first pregnancy and we agreed it would be too painful . He was very present for me during my pregnancy and after delivery. One day when I was scared because I didn't feel my baby he let me sit on a heartbeat monitor for two hours for reassurance! When I called to see if he would have me again the lady at the front was very informative and kind. I am switching insurance from Santa Clara family health plan to physicians medical group to ensure I get to see him again for my current pregnancy. Thank you for your amazing care Dr. Noh! Let me try again - I was looking for a new OB GYN as I had just moved back to the Bay Area. This doctor was available the next day and I needed immediate attention as I had painful clogged ducts and on the verge of mastitis. My former OB GYN never charged me for a prescription of antibiotics, but Dr. Noh found a way to charge my insurance and to have me pay $15 out of pocket. Not a big sum, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and gave me an insight to how he will charge patients if you stick with the practice. The method of accepted payment is also by mail with an envelope, and you need to get your own stamp. Staff is nice, but I furthermore did not like how the doctor talked down to people who spoke Korean (specifically the nurse). read more

I am an older woman diagnosed with PCOS, so when I was trying to get pregnant I was pessimistic and was fully expecting a very difficult path forward. Luckily I found Dr. Noh and after assessment he was confident on day one that I should not have too much problem getting pregnant and having a healthy baby. Dr. Noh is my life saver, literally! He delivered my daughter and made a tough delivery easy to bare. He was there every step of the way and I had full confidence in him. I know that he might be different because of the culture in which he was raised. However, I must say that, from my wife's and my prospective, he is really a doctor that prioritizes the patient's health the most. My wife got pregnant. We discovered it one month later she got pregnant. We have made an appointment with another doctor (who's not Dr. Noh). Before this appointment, my wife started to bleed. We desperately called the doctor with whom we have appointment in the following week. She told us to go to emergency room. I was really not sure if I could find an OBGYN there. I called a couple of more doctors but could not make an appointment at the day. My wife was a new patient to any doctor. I was very desperate and called this Dr. Noh. His receptionist gave us the earliest possible schedule, so we could see the doctor just in a couple of hours. Dr. Noh did his best to take care of my wife. We could see how much he was really worrying for my wife's health. He left his phone number so we can call. He also gave us a call during the weekend to check how things were going. What he did was very different from what the first doctor did. We have experienced a couple of miscommunication after then. However, it is a small thing to us. What is crucial for a doctor may not be to say sweet words kindly to the patients, etc. (I do not mean he's not kind.) I believe that the single most important code of professional ethics is to do the best for the patients in need. In this sense, I would say he is a good doctor. read more

I initially chose Dr. Noh based on a highly praised recommendation by my boss and his wife who had nothing but the best experience in how Dr. Noh cared for her through pregnancy and expert delivery. The confidence that they had in him is what drove it home for me to stop looking and choose him. I AM SO GLAD I MADE THIS CHOICE! As nervous as we were becoming new parents, his assurance, confidence, knowledge, and caring nature helped ease any worries we had, and made the entire process so smooth! The thorough explanations of everything he was doing and why was so reassuring. Literally, he has this way about him in that he would knowingly look my husband and I in the eyes after every visit and assure me that everything is going just fine. i won't recommend this doctor to anyone, he does not think about his patients anymore, he only cares about money. First time I went there, he only checked my big tummy without saying anything. Second time, I went there also, nothing happened, checking my belly and then went home. Three time, I went there, after I got charge out from hospital--ER--. I asked him, what was wrong with him, he didn't know anything about humanity, he only care about money without checking good his patient!!!! Careless!!!!! I lost my baby!!!! Lucky me, I am alive!!!! 1. Dr Noh's staff is friendly, but I don't think they know the policies and procedures very well. When we were referred to Obstetrix Medical Group in San Jose by Dr Noh for amniocentesis, the papers relevant to that along with the referral letter were never sent to Obstetrix by Dr Noh's staff, though I told them repeatedly over phone to do it and there was ample time to do. As our appointment date was nearing, we started getting calls from Obstetrix that they did not receive the referral papers yet. At one point, one of Dr Noh's staff members told me she would call back in 10 minutes and she never did and when I called again, she recognized my voice and hung up and left for the day. I think that's very condescending behavior. It took me a couple of trips to his office and a lot of phone calls to just get the papers out to Obstetrix. They got them on the very last day about half hour before our appointment! 2. After a problem was detected in ultrasound during amniocentesis, we were asked to go for a second opinion by the doctor in Obstetrix. Again the process was not clear whether Dr Noh's office would be helping us scheduling it or the Obstetrix office. I went back and forth between the two offices and finally I could get an appointment with a doctor in O 'Connor Hospital by arranging it myself and then I informed Dr Noh's office. Dr Noh's staff told me that they would arrange by sending all the paper work for the second opinion with this doctor in O 'Connor Hospital. But none of the medical records were again sent to this second opinion doctor even in a week's time. Fortunately this time I had taken a copy of the records myself which came handy for review by this second opinion doctor. 3. During the second opinion at O 'Connor Hospital, while the ultrasound technician was testing, the office staff came running into the room and stopped the procedure telling that there was no insurance authorization (and the authorization from Santa Clara County Individual Practice Association SCCIPA, this is the medical group the doctor belongs to) for this and I might have to pay. This was very embarrassing. I then agreed to pay for the procedure myself if insurance rejects and continued the test. I don't understand why no information was sent out to insurance about the second opinion and prior authorization obtained. I later called Dr Noh's office to inquire and one of his staff said : "I am new. I have been working here just for 2 years. I don't know how to do this." This is not an acceptable answer for the position that she is in. Then I myself called the insurance (Aetna and SCCIPA), got a contact number there and the rules, and then called Dr Noh's office back and relayed them the information. I think the doctor's office personnel should find out amongst themselves how to do it rather than take my help. This place is good only for Asians as they can talk in their local language (I think korean) and get preferred treatment in that way. read more

Dr. Noh is very kind, patience, and knowledge. I made several visits to him since I had some health issue and my family doctor recommended him. There were a few times I had questions about my health problem, I called the office and Dr. Noh returned my call as soon as he could. Instead of telling me to come in (as most doctors don't like to consult over the phone, they want you to come in so they can bill insurance)., he just gave me advices over the phone.
