For only $6 per car, you can enjoy the creek, walk over to the beach, rent kayaks/paddleboards, grab food, drinks, and the most addicting slushies! I was definitely nervous the first time coming here alone with my son, but now I feel like a regular and it's become one of those places I genuinely love making memories at. The area is clean, relaxing, and the sweetest lady running the food stand makes the experience even better. A true South Florida hidden gem that I hope becomes a staple in my son's childhood.

The have protocols in place for safety and if your feeling they move to slow ... no they don't there are proper ways of getting things done.... If you're on a time crunch then kayaking is not it, go for a trail walk or sit at the beach or bike ride but don't kayak, that's the waters way of telling you to slow down. They even let us stay out an extra 30-40 minutes, which we really appreciated. The customer service was outstanding from start to finish. They provided free water bottles, dry bags, and even complimentary snacks. At the end of our trip, we were surprised with free ice cream, which was such a nice touch! The kayaks were clean and in great condition, and the staff was very helpful in getting us set up and answering our questions. We had a wonderful time paddling through Las Olas and Fort Lauderdale, enjoying the beautiful scenery and waterways. We went on July 3rd on a Sunday and it was a beautiful day out. Sunny with 10% chance of rain, which is good for summer in Florida. The weather was perfect. We arrived to Bahia Mar Marina and checked in at the Tropical Sailing office by the main entrance, located behind Market Cafe. Once we checked in, we went over to the marina where the catamaran was located. There was a group total of maybe 30 people on our cruise. Our captain was Ernesto aka "E" and then Nick who was the bartender/first mate. E and Nick were awesome. E had jokes all day long and was so good about informing everyone about rules and things to do and not do. Nick was so good catering to our kids, we had 13 people total in our party and 7 of those were kids. He was great about tending to them and making sure the kids were happy for the duration of the cruise They offered free snacks, bottled water and sodas with the ticket price. You could open a tab and buy alcoholic beverages during the cruise. They had beer, White Claw and wine. Very affordable prices. Worth it if you want to drink. We sailed to Fort Lauderdale Beach area in the middle of the ocean and they put out the water mat and trampoline. And the water slide was in full effect. We got to hang and lounge here for maybe 1-2 hours? Hard to say as we didn't keep track of time and we were too busy having fun to notice. It was a good amount of time though for everyone to jump in the water and play. When it was time to leave, E and Nick pulled everything out of the water while most of us lounged on the net. You can only lay on the net when the catamaran is not moving. We sailed back to the marina and almost everyone was passed out and dunzo! What an awesome day on the catamaran. Great fun had by all. We rented the Kayak and it was a scenic ride. The guide gave great instructions on how to navigate the kayak and channels. I think it's a great adventure for everyone to try. This is a FREE alternative to the $40 water taxi. The route is smaller so double-check that it's going where you want to before making plans. If you just want a fun little boat ride to see the river, this is perfect. It's about 20-30 minutes round trip from the riverwalk plaza near Cheesecake Factory. There's also a stop at esplanade park. You can check the live tracker online to see how far away it is. One captain I had pointed out landmarks and talked about the history of the area, and one was quiet. Either way, it was such a fun little outing, and I'd recommend it to both tourists and locals!

One of the best things about the City of Fort Lauderdale is its docking facilities, particularly…read morethose in its downtown area and more particularly its small boat (26 feet or less) docking facilities located on the New River along the north shore of what is locally known as the "New River turnaround area" just east, downstream, of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Docking here isn't meant for overnight, is primarily for short term commuter and recreational use, there is no water service, electrical hookups and docking is free of charge. Larger boats can also be docked along the New River that are equipped with various amenities for a charge. Arrangements for those may be made by contacting the City Dockmaster. I find myself continuously making use of the small boat docking facilities as I've found it easily accessible and particularly handy for docking when I visit the Riverwalk, Linear Park areas or the restaurants, bars and entertainment establishments of what is locally known as the Himmarshee Village or those within Fort Lauderdale's Himmarshee District.
