I have been here twice now for kayak rental. The staff is very friendly and it's been a good time each time. They have plenty of kayaks for one or two people and they are happy to assist you getting in and out. (I have bad knees; so the getting in and out is the hardest part for me.). There are lots of deals available; the first time I went I used a Groupon, and the second time I got a BOGO deal for checking in on Yelp. (So it was $40 for 2 peoples for 2 hours.) I went for 2 hours each time; which I thought was just the right length to kayak. They do have all day rentals a d guided tours as well. Weekdays are definitely the way to go...... much less boat traffic in waterways surrounding the launch point and calmer waters. They also rent paddleboards and jet skis if kayaking is not your thing. The waiting area is cute with colorful Adirondack chairs and they have clean restrooms inside if you need to change. (There's also a cute little health food restaurant right next door if you want to grab a quick bite or meal after your adventure.). It's a great little staycation adventure for locals and it would definitely be a fun outing for South Florida tourists. read more

I bought a Groupon a couple of months back as a birthday present for a loved one. We took advantage of it this past weekend and went on a two-hour tandem kayaking adventure. I had made the reservation a couple of weeks back, but nevertheless I called a day or two beforehand to confirm. No problems there. Using the Groupon was a breeze. Showed up Saturday afternoon and they attended us immediately. We got a brief explanation as to where to go, what we would see, and well, the life vests, of course! Then off we went. The path itself is very scenic. Plenty of houses to oh and ah over, but more so, it's not a congested area, which is a shock as this is Fort Lauderdale and all. People we passed were generally friendly and what's even more amazing is there's a mini area where you can stop and rest. We didn't stop, but nevertheless it was nice to see this. Apparently there are two companies (one being the one we used - Sunrise Paddleboards) that share this path and they each have customers stopping to rest sans problems. Past the rest area, there's a bridge, and that was our cue to go back. We got back a bit earlier than expected as the tide agreed with us. Despite this, we really felt we got our money's worth. Upon arrival, it seems it got packed. Took a bit to disembark and remove the life vests, but it didn't matter. Staff was helpful and pleasant, and overall, we had a great time. This was my first time paddleboarding and I had a really good experience. This is located next to MayaPapaya, so it's great to get a nice watery work out and then get some fresh local food. The location is very convenient being right on US1. We were out for a little over two hours and made it out well past the Galleria Mall and saw the skyline of downtown Ft Lauderdale. My friends and I made a reservation, signed a waiver, and got in the water. Super easy and quick and you get right to it. The water was blue and clear and felt safe being in the intercoastal. I've been to a few kayaking places and the pleasantries of this staff is pretty good. Shoutout to Troy and Kent as they were amazing hosts and extremely hospitable. They have different promotions that they run on various platforms but the best deal for myself was in a Wednesday I went and it was $25 for all day rental till 6pm usually when they close. It was a gorgeous day out, didn't come across any larger boats that may have caused difficulty if you paddle boarding or kayaking. If you were to go right around on the map it would be approximately 7 miles or you can just go out to the furthest distance you would like and turn back. Paddleboards and Kayaks are available, lockers are also available as well as a restroom if needed. You will have opportunities to go through mangroves if you choose to see a couple of manatees. It was so so tranquil as we rowed through canals and seeing the houses that are out there on the water. Highly recommend bringing a bottle of water with you to keep hydrated as we know this FLorida sun takes no prisoners. Check this place out and support your local small businesses. I come here a lot to rent paddleboards. They are very nice here, and will help you get on and off the board and give you some suggestions about where to go. The waterways to the right (south) of the place have less boats so it would be more pleasant for paddle boarders and kayakers. The price for rentals are very reasonable for South Florida residents I have taken friends here and they enjoyed the experience also. One time maybe 5 or 6 years ago, I didn't have the best experience when signing up for a sunset full-moon paddle-boarding trip. I was with my boyfriend and we got behind, no body from the staff was watching the people in the back of the excursion. Troy! I can't say enough kind words on how you helped me. Today hubby and I decided to rent their new bicycle paddleboards during a day with a heat index of over a 100°. Duh! Prior to our adventure, I did not eat or drink any fluids except 1 cup of coffee in the morning. Dbl duh! We are avid kayakers, sup enthusiasts but this time I thought a hour trip did not require much self care. Trpl duh! Fast forward to the mid point of our trip, where we had planned to turn around at Colohatchee boat ramp, when I became ill. I sat on the edge of the dock and felt overwhelmed with faintness, dizziness and lost all energy. I brought a water bottle along which I consumed and refilled at the water fountain. We doused my body with water from the bathroom sink. I started to feel slightly better but by no means able to ride back. We embarrassingly called to see how we were going to get the bikes back. But Troy quickly came up with a solution and picked me up with the bike and hubby rode his back with no issues. Troy put all my stress and embarrassment at ease. He was so kind and made a very scary incident so much better. I'll def be back! I've been here a few times and always dealt with a great crew! Great place to paddle! Took my dog out there and they were very welcoming. It was $20 to paddle for 2 hours which is not bad at all. Highly recommend this location. The only recommendation I would give is pay attention to the direction and houses you head toward, it's easy to get turned around. But we were able to figure it out so it wasn't too bad. Nice route if you want to see a bunch of expensive houses and get some sun, there isn't too much shade. The guy that launched us said there were some mangrove areas but we must've not paddled far enough to see any. It was pretty much all residential. Still very pretty! read more

We rented two kayaks for a couple of hours and were able to explore two of the large river branches in Fort Lauderdale. They launched us off their dock which is right outside the office and off the parking lot. Note: They have a restroom and cubbyholes for you to store your shoes or keys while you're on the water. We were impressed with the quality of the kayaks and paddles. They weren't cheap and looked almost new. As far as the customer service goes, it's top notch. My friend and I wanted to try something new so we rented paddle boards to go around the Fort Lauderdale canals! We chose Sunrise Paddleboards because it had better reviews and prices than its competitor, Blue Moon. Boy are the prices good. Not only are they very reasonable but they offer Yelp cash back and several money-saving offers! We used the BOGO deal and got to enjoy 2 hours for a great price. The experience was very easy. My friend was a beginner at paddle boarding and she did great. We went northwest on the canal and ended up just south of Wilton Manors. There were a few cool houses but I kind of wished we could get closer to the mansions by going south from the launch. Next time we'll try that. TIPS: Bring some spray sunscreen and a visor! Make sure to bring water! You can secure these belongings in the elastic cords at the front of your paddle board. For cell phones I recommend wearing a fanny pack and putting your phone in a ziploc bag inside. That way if you fall your phone won't be zonked! read more

I love south Florida's intracoastal. The waters are calm and the weather is perfect. Today, we decided to celebrate Veteran's day by going kayaking and enjoying the peacefulness of nature. Also, it's a good workout for your shoulders! We looked on Groupon and found their place. They were offering a good deal, $31 for two people for two hours. Since, we decided to buy it the same day, we wanted to make sure there were openings left. We called and they said to come in and they'll match the Groupon's price. We went in for 11:30 and the employees were friendly. We decided to get a tandem kayak and the guy was giving us pointers on where to go. He helped us on and we were on our way. The waters were calm and we saw other boaters, kayakers, and paddle boarders. We passed by beautiful homes on the water and saw lovely mangroves. I was hoping to see a manatee but no signs. We did see some ducks, herons, and iguanas! Also, some humans and their pets sitting on there lovely patios which I am envious of. We went under some bridges and at the hour mark, decided to head back. Bring water, sunscreen, and take lots of pictures. I LOVE THIS PLACE and it's dog friendly! I've gone here twice (once in the summer and once this past November) for stand up paddle board rentals and a yoga paddle board class and both did not disappoint. The staff is extremely nice, flexible and helpful. They aren't the typical place where they count your time to the dot either so you never feel too stressed to rush back or keep constant time on the clock. For the rentals, we came with a group of 4 and a pup. They were flexible on time start and we were able to get a single kayak and the rest paddle boards. It was relaxing and enjoyable paddling around looking at the nice homes, boats and iguanas hanging along the dock. They were nice about having my pup on the board and hooked her up first and it was easy to bring along small backpacks for drinks. Our yoga experience was even better. It was a small group of 3 but they mentioned all amounts of groups can vary. Our instructor was Silvie and I highly recommend her! She was extremely personable and knew our names immediately. She worked at our pace as well, yet challenged us when it seemed we wanted to be. Silvie was one of the most skilled yoga instructors I've also had in awhile! We had many breathing exercises, deep stretching and challenging poses. I'd take another class with her if I lived in the area! None of us took our phones and Silvie also took a ton of photos of us and shared it with us right away. It was a great way to wake up in the morning, enjoy the outdoors, be active and enjoy a nice ending to our Thanksgiving holidays. read more

Looking for alternate date night, we googled and decided on SUP, and then found Sunrise Paddleboards. From beginning to end, we had a great experience. Part of the Sunset tour they offer, we were greeted by Paul who offered us an assortment of wine and cheese, all from Trader Joes, and all very good. Fun way to kick it off. We met the others in our group, all cool peeps. About 6.30 pm we headed out, but first Paul showed us the ropes of how to SUP . We did paddle for what felt forever. At about 7.45 we stopped at a small beach to rest and had a bit more wine. At 8.05 we made the trek back. Fearing it was another 1.25 hour paddle back, we were relieved it only took 40 minutes as we were going with current. It was dark at this point, which made the paddling that much cooler. My 2 adult children and I booked a 3 hour jetski tour the other day. Sam was our guide he was great! He gave us simple directions and lead us through the canals keeping us in a pack. We are not the most experienced group of Jetskier but Sam helps keep you safe and motoring at the correct speeds through the canals. Sam was very knowledgeable about the mansions and yachts in the area which is an add plus on the way out and back from playing in the open ocean. He takes pictures and videos and sends them to you after your on dry land. We had an absolute blast! Happy to find this place open so that I could take a break and enjoy the outdoors and water. We called on our way and made a reservation over the phone. It's a little pricy at 25 dollars per person but yon can stay out for 3 hours so it becomes more worth it if you are looking for a longer adventure. There's plenty of parking right by the launch area and the place was efficient in getting us on the water with minimum contact. You can choose to go right or left when you head out. It was recommended to go left. We saw plenty of interesting houses and ran into only a few other boats and paddlers although it was the middle of the week. It was windy so at times we were fighting to paddle in both directions! Didn't see much wildlife although plenty of signs for manatees. Might be fun to go in the winter when they'd be more likely to make an appearance! read more

However, I called before I arrived to get the pricing on the cost for my daughter and I and was given a different price when I arrived. I called and asked how much it would cost for a tandem kayak for one hour he said $20. When I went in the store he said it was $40!!!! Is it bc I'm black and you didn't think I knew how to kayak and I was gonna destroy your boat??? But I didn't show out, I paid my $40 plus tax and sailed away with my child. Before leaving he told us to take our time and stay out for and hour and a half if we want. Ummm no sir I'm staying out for 2hrs bc that's what I actually paid for. Get your pricing right! read more

My friend and I were looking to go paddle boarding and stumbled on this place on groupon. They were offering a really good deal for two hours of paddle boarding (though their prices regularly are not bad at all either). This was my first time paddle boarding, but my friend who I went with had been several times so I felt comfortable going with her. The guy who checked us in was very friendly and got all of our paperwork settled before we could go out. They have a little cubby for you to store your shoes, and a place for you to store your keys if need be (on each of the paddleboards you can put a small bag or something up where the life jackets are if you want to bring stuff and don't want to have to wear the bag while you're standing). The guy who got us our boards and sent us on our way did not provide much information or instruction (so again thankfully my friend had been before) but got us on the boards and told us which way was the best way for us to go. We went out for about 45-50 min and came to a dead end in exploring some mangroves which was pretty cool. When we hit the dead end we turned around and made it back around the two hour mark. The area you can go to takes you through the canals/intercostal waterways through a residential area, ultimately ending up in the mangroves (pay attention to the way you come as it is easy to get turned around, we basically just had to make a few lefts to get where we wanted to go which made coming back easy). Ultimately I was happy with the experience and the calm waters meant I was able to actually stand up several times without falling and for the rest of it I was either sitting or kneeling. I strongly recommend wearing sunscreen and a hat, and if you can I would also recommend bringing some water with you as there is absolutely no shade along the route. (Oh and if you bring your phone I would recommend making sure it's in a ziplock bag). Overall I would say this is a great place to rent from and if you need any pointers or advice on where to go make sure to ask and they will tell you! read more
