I am not sure how else to review this or what else to say. It's never crumbled beneath me or fallen apart while I drove through it. I have probably driven through it hundreds of times, and I have taken to a tradition that my Dad did when I was a kid- honk twice in the tunnel. Now my kids love it too. I heard you can hike to the top, too. Pretty cool. Overall, a great tunnel and a required part of the drive from Carson City to South Lake Tahoe. (unless you go around the lake the other way, which would take forever)

It kind of looks like any tunnel inside. It's just there so US 50 can go through a mountain. There's several parking areas to stop at and look at the amazing scenery. Look for the side roads you can turn onto and get up the hills. There's a trail to take you far up. Basic tunnel but it's in a big rock. It has good places to look.There's very good views of the lake water.

My favorite ways down this chair is Mosely's, and Chute 75.

Spider Bug [Carson City NV]…read more Quick fun stop to check out this David Fambrough masterpiece... a giant metal spider made from a vintage Volkswagen Beetle. It is currently located in the property of a business that is for sale. Apparently it has moved around a couple of times and it could have another temporary or permanent home in the future if the new owners of the business is unwilling to keep it on their property. It was supposed to have a pair of mandibles but unfortunately this spider has gone through a lot LoL! Every booth offered something different and unique. Jewelry, photography, woodworking, garden art, to name a few. Candy for sale at the city hall, and food vendors galore as well. $10 to park and there's a shuttle at the end of the lots. There's also street parking farther away if you're willing to hoof it.

Many times in life it's the simple things…read more Along the Truckee River there's a gentleman that takes rocks from the river and creates small sculptures of people and animals. He manages to balance these various sized river rocks to make his creations. It amazes me the size of the sculpture he can produce and how perfect they appear. I'm glad he has the passion and time to make these. I enjoy checking them all out when Sheela and I walk along the Truckee River. It is really disappointing to know that some people thinks it's ok to destroy the works; they are in anyone's way or bothering. Just enjoy.

I love art when it just sort of happens unexpectedly…read more I have been a fan of Mr. Hobo for awhile now as I am a frequent walker along the Truckee Riverwalk. His works are thoughtful, humorous, beautiful and poignant. I really love his reclining people and the little stories each one seems to tell. He is a gifted artist. The creativity of closing, arranging and balancing pieces of river rock to make his sculptures is truly a sight to behold. He does have pieces for sale that have the rocks attached, but most of his displays are completely stacked and balanced. When the water level is low enough, he adds pieces in the river between the Sierra and Virginia Street bridges. This guy Rocks! (Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)
