Eagle Station trading post in 1851 initiated the birth of Nevada State Capitol. Carson City was founded in 1858 and has a rich frontier, pioneer and wild west past. Once gold was found in the Comstock Carson became a thriving city. This Welcome to Carson City marker is located just after Mound House coming from Mound House and Dayton. This marker is just 6 miles east of Carson on Hwy 50. In 1880 became it's own town when the railroad ran through this area to the mining towns and into California.
