I have mild to moderate wedge compressions on 8 vertebrae and 4 disc bulges, one of which became a herniated disc about two years ago. Physical therapy and chiropractors seemed to aggravate the herniated disc. I ended up in severe pain after those sessions with limited mobility for weeks. Additionally, since the herniated disc, I've lost significant muscle mass (especially in my legs as I was no longer able to bend down and had severely limited mobility for months). The herniated disc also caused sciatica, which would cause muscles in my leg or hips to tense up to where I was unable to bend them, numbness in my upper left leg, and occasionally extreme nerve pain in my upper left leg. Enter Balance Martial Arts and Shifu Peter Wu! Although I had hoped that the Tai Chi would help with my posture and provide some improvement, Shifu Peter Wu taught me several Qigong exercises which have had an enormously beneficial effect on me. Years of being in a desk job created a slight, but noticeable hunch in my back. When I was younger (30's), the only way to fix it would be visits to the chiropractor, however the fixes would only last days. After practicing one of Shifu Peter's Qigongs for a few weeks, I was able to resolve that issue for over a month now with occasional practices of the exercise. I was never able to fix that on my own before! Additionally, the standing exercises he has taught me, has helped strengthen my lower back and hip girdle significantly. That coupled with seated Qigong with postural corrections, and some other exercises he taught me, I've eliminated most of the pain in my lower back. The stances from the standing exercises and Tai Chi have additionally started building up my leg strength again. All of this has had a significant increase on my mobility and energy levels. After years of "good and bad days", where good days meant only mild pain, I now see a light at the end of the tunnel! Now my good days mean no pain and I have increased range of motion! This has only been with 3.5 months. I can't wait to see how much better I'll be in another year. Shifu Peter is one of the few people who's had an opportunity to train in Chen Village (the birthplace of Tai Chi), as well as at the Shaolin temple. His teaching style is great, supplying me with new information and refinements in every class, and he is extremely supportive and flexible in showing me exercises to help improve my practice, and to help me along with my back. There's still a long road ahead of me for fixing all of the issues in my back, but I haven't had this much success in any other methodology I've tried, let alone in such a short period of time. I can't give enough accolades to Shifu Peter Wu and the practices that he's taught me!

I've been taking the Tai Chi class here with my mom for several months now, and it has been one of…read morethe best things we've done together. Everyone has been incredibly welcoming from day one. The instructors encourage you to challenge yourself, but they never push you to the point where you dread coming back. They meet you where you are and genuinely want you to succeed. Special shout out to Mandy, who has been our class instructor for the last couple of months and is an absolute gem. What surprised me most is what an amazing workout Tai Chi actually is. It looks slow and gentle, but don't let that fool you--I often leave sweaty. Since starting, I've noticed a huge improvement in my strength, balance, and confidence. A real-life example: I have a 40-pound bulldog who needs to be carried downstairs every morning to go outside. Before Tai Chi, I struggled (and he was a bit afraid). Now I can carry him down an entire flight of stairs without thinking twice, and he seems to really appreciate me not being wobbly on the stairs anymore. That's a pretty noticeable difference. I also appreciate that the class includes people of all ages and abilities. No one is trying to prove they're the strongest or the most athletic. It's just a supportive environment where everyone is working on becoming a little stronger, healthier, and more capable than they were the week before. I also really like how the more advanced students join us at times to help and encourage us. (Hint: If you're looking for a fun group of seniors, join our lunch class on M, W & F) If you've ever been curious about Tai Chi but wondered whether it was "enough" exercise, I can honestly say it has exceeded my expectations. I look forward to every class, and my mom and I always leave feeling better than when we walked in. I'm so glad we decided to give it a try.

My son wanted to start martial…read morearts, so my husband searched through the vendors at his homeschool charter and found Oom Yung Doe in Temecula. When I reached out via their scheduling system to set up a free trial, I was immediately called back and I spoke to Ben the owner. He set up a date and time for my son to visit and try a class that evening. Ben met with all of us first to discuss my son's goals and to explain a little bit about their school and then my son joined the teen class right after. My son loved it and we decided to have him attend classes there. They offer teen classes every evening and morning classes for everyone as well as Saturday morning classes. Ben and his wife, Joy own Oom Yung Doe and are some of the most kind and welcoming people I have met! My son started attending 2.5 months ago and I will tell you, he loves it, but more importantly, his grades have come up and he is doing amazing scholastically! My son took the Star360 (a statewide test) last school year in May and was in the red zone (concerning zone-he has been for most of his school career) and just this week, he is in the blue zone (the zone they want all students to be in). Images attached. We are shocked and so excited for him! We can't wait to watch him grow and change due to the training he is getting at Oom Yung Doe! If you have a child who is struggling with school, please reach out to Ben at Oom Yung Doe and have your child attend a session or two. I attached the website link below. I promise you won't be disappointed and if you attend for a few months, you may see their grades increase like we have! https://meet.oomyungdoe.com/free-consultation-ca
