I've been remiss in not reviewing this place sooner. Over the past 6-7 years, we have boarded our pets here at least 10 times; each stay was a minimum of three nights, with one stay that was 10 nights. Our dogs and cats have come home happy every time. Every experience has been phenomenal. So good, in fact, that I have recommended this place to friends and co-workers (who have also been satisfied). The staff here has always been friendly on my visits. I did have to wait a few minutes when I dropped off my dogs this past week, and that was because they were outside with the dogs. (Not a problem at all!) While I don't doubt that some people have had some not-so-great experiences here, I also know that many of the negative reviews center on cost. This place is not cheap. Neither are any other boarding joints that I am aware of. But I have never worried about their condition while I have been away. read more

I have been using Tailwaggers for two dogs for nearly 15 years. Absolutely no problems up until the new ownership took over 2 years ago. I had two dogs boarded at noon on Monday, Oct 10, 2022, and picked them up at 11:00 A.M on Thursday, Oct 13, 2022. We were charged for four days, $269, even though we abided by the drop-off and pickup rules. The dogs spent less than 72 hours in the facility. Speaking with the owner, she indicated the rules changes were on the counter! She also indicated that this policy of charging by the day was "not fair to everyone, but she had to do it. " When I dropped them off on Monday the place reeked with a putrid odor. I had to explain to the person checking me in (not the owner) three times the daily feeding of the pets, even though I showed her it was written on the container of dog food. Two men were sitting behind the counter eating. I'm really sorry, but I'm never boarding the pets here again. Not a good way to run a business. I'm tired of being punished because "some take advantage" of Tailwaggers. read more

If I could give this business a 0 I would. The new groomer overcharges for everything and either the owner or the front office lady is a NIGHTMARE. They treated our dogs horribly and the grooming was terrible and all we did was a wash and toenail clip. we Will never ever be going back to this place. I was looking for a nice, clean, and safe place for my 2 fur babies to get groom and on occasion kennel. The sign outside this business states " Stop by and see our kennels" So I did Now it didn't say call for an appointment to see kennels. There were no other customers and there were 3 people behind the counter sitting and eating. The lady at the register partially agreed me. I asked to tour their facility; since the sign outside their business is inviting you to stop by a checkout the new kennels. I was asked by the lady at the register "Did I have an appointment " I replied no, for what?I then ask her " Do need an appointment have a tour?" She replied "Yes" I said why.... The front desk lady said "because we are cleaning". Now there's No customers, and 3 people sitting and eating and 1 dog outside alone NO one playing him/her. This was a SAD site!!! I am so HAPPY I inadvertently stopped by this business; Because I would NEVER leave my fur babies in a place that isn't excited and happy to show off their facility. If this is your policy Trailwaggers is a poor one and you might want to revisit it. Because people like myself Loves their fur babies to the moon and back. read more

We had been taking our dogs to Tailwaggers for probably 15 years, but David recently sold and our experience with the new owner was horrible. The new owner acted like it was an Inconvenience for me to drop off my dogs. The dogs stayed for 8 days and when I picked them up, they reeked of urine, so much so the smell made me sick. It took multiple baths to get rid of the smell and bring the yellow urine colored hair back to white. On top of that, my dogs were skittish for days afterwords which never happened before. They used to love to go the kennel but not anymore. Sadly after many years, I will have to look to keep my dogs elsewhere. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. I took 2 female German Shepherds (both 1 year old) a year apart. The first was covered in feces (having never made a mistake in the house). I chalked that up to her playing outside with the other dogs. And that her diet was changed because the pre-packaged food that I sent with her still had much of it left when I picked her up. The second I took pre-packaged food again and her bed as well. When I went to pick her up she had poop all over her and it appeared that she ate none of her pre-packaged food that I took. I asked for her bed back and after a discussion about how they provide the beds, etc it was brought out is an black plastic yard bag. I was a total mess due to the poop as was the pup. To be clear this dog never made a mistake in the house or kennel either. Just do not punish your pet. This company is 100% about the money and don't give a damn about your pet. read more

The new crew is not as dog friendly , changed the rules and don't communicate properly which causes a lot of confusion and extra cost for the customer. Absolute worst possible place you can take your pet. To start They leave your baby full of hair to get all over you and your eyes and dried poop and don't follow your instructions on your grooming wishes. They make excuses saying well if you had notice when you got them you would not have that problem. My baby was not happy and had to carry and hug return with no color or leash on yeah so how?Are Quick to tell client that if aren't satisfied because according them, pet was groomed perfect. Because they're satisfied with how the dog looked and throw their years of experience , where they were at last and trained. But do not care if client was satisfied. Speaks to you ugly and like you are not educated claiming you just didn't want to pay the bill (even though bill was already payed prior to complains) A bill amount I might add that was not communicated of new increased pricing to client. Who unlike prior owners do not do all the work themselves was told according to manger also inflation like gas and lumber you know the world has inflation and now to be able to keep doors open to run her business she has to raise prices because of inflation her words not mine which were yelled at client followed by you should find another place if you don't like it ,some people aren't worth serving and better to lose them. Because of all This to me is Not a business I consider professional or caring of clientele. If they treat us like this how do we know how our fur babies are. I boarded my puppers here for two days and was extremely nervous about it. I usually leave them with my parents when I leave town. My boyfriend was told we would receive a phone call if there were any problems. When I arrived to pick them up, they came out very happy. I could tell they were comfortable and had a good time! Tail waggers has taken care of our fur babies quite a few times, and they always do a fabulous job. Our dogs come back tired and happy from playing outside with the other dogs and our cat comes back mischievous and content as always. They don't charge extra for doggy playtime, and have a big, real lawn for the dogs to play in. (I think they even have a separate area for smaller dogs.) They also ensure all pets are up to date on vaccines, which is comforting. We use Tail Waggers every time we go out of town because we know our pets will be well taken care of. My 2 dogs and cat have boarded here when we've traveled. EXCELLENT CARE. They put all 3 of my babies together in a suite. We can bring their beds and favorite toys. Because they are together, just like at home, the trauma of being separated from us is lessened. Just before we pick them up, we arrange for grooming. I don't know what she uses on our Yorkie's hair, but it is always so soft and fragrant. I highly recommend this establishment to everyone in the League City/Dickinson area. After seeing so many positive reviews I thought I would try out Tail Waggers when I had to leave my babies for my last trip. I typically bring them to another boarding facility for both boarding and doggy daycare, but for the great price this place offers and the close proximity to both my home and work I thought I would try out this place. I had a very unpleasant experience and I will never bring my dogs here again. I will gladly pay the much higher price and drive further to bring my dogs to their normal boarding place in Galveston. The Good: They offer very competitive prices. They are about half the price of where I normally bring my dogs. The Bad: When I dropped my dogs off I was not given a tour of the facility or offered one unlike every other place where I have boarded my dogs before. They immediately took my dogs off their leash and put them in the back "courtyard" area without asking me any questions about my dogs temperament or even having a human out there supervising them. These two things should've been a red flag right there for me as this is something that I've never seen done before. Another thing that I did not like was that when I wanted to say goodbye to my dogs I was told that "it would disrupt them and make it more stressful on them" as my other places always let me at least say goodbye to my dogs. They are like my children so this was very upsetting to me. The person who was checking us in asked if there was any issues with my dogs escaping because they have had dogs get out which leads me to believe that there is not constant human supervision while the dogs are outside playing. When I picked up my dogs at the end of their stay they both smelled so bad of urine that I had to bathe them three separate times to get rid of the smell. Their dog bed and toys were also soaked in pee so bad that they had to be thrown away. The drive home was unbearable because the smell was so bad. My dogs are very good at holding their bladders and have never had a problem when they were being boarded before other than the youngest one will occasionally poop while being boarded overnight. I have feeling my dogs were not let out enough and from the amount of energy they had when we got home I am wondering if they even had much play time outside of their kennel. Normally where we board them when they come home they are so tired from playing so much they just need to nap. Another thing that really bothered me was that within an hour of my dogs being home the two of them drank over a gallon of water and were extremely thirsty. My youngest dog ( who normally loves car rides) who has done good boarding other times was so stressed out by this experience that when I tried to get her to go in the car for her doggy school she refused to walk to the car. I had to pick her up to put her in and the whole drive until we reached her trainer's location her ears were down and she was shaking and panting. I sincerely feel that my dogs were not adequately taken care of during their stay. I did not receive a call during their stay to notify me that they were not doing well and it is appalling to me how bad they smelled and how their items were all soaked in urine and not cleaned before they were returned to me. While I did say that they did not need an exit bath because I've never had an issue with them coming home dirty or smell, considering how much they smelled like pee I would've thought Tail Waggers would've called me prior to pick up to inform me of this and ask if I would like to add one on. Next time I need them to be boarded I will send more money, drive the 30 minute drive to Galveston, and bring them somewhere where they will be treated like a family member. read more

My dogs stayed here for 6 nights. When we picked them up they were very happy dogs. They seemed so happy, like they had a great time. The owner is always there and really cares about all the dogs. My 2 babies got to kennel together the whole time and they all got plenty of outside time playing and running around. They had a great time and have been knocked out since we got home! They played too hard all week at Tailwaggers!! The only thing I suggest is getting a bath before they leave, they stunk to high heavens and I had to bathe them as soon as we got home. read more

We have been using Tailwaggers for 2 years now, and Junior, our Cocker Spaniel, loves the care he receives! In fact, we can't say the word "Tailwaggers" because he goes into a run, barks, and jumps excitedly thinking he's going immediately. On the day he gets to go for baths, he's so excited he begins shaking with joy. The locally owned boarding and grooming facility is clean and well maintained by the nicest couple you will ever meet. We have boarded Junior about a dozen times with no problems, and a couple of those were emergencies. The standards are high, so dogs must have shots. My GSD, Lucian aka Lu aka LuLu aka If-You-Leave-Me-The-World-Will-End, has some serious Shepherdation Anxiety. He can't stand to be separated from me or put in a kennel. So, when we were preparing to go to a wedding in Florida, we were starting to get more than just a little nervous about where he was going to stay. If he gets too worked up, his GI tract goes haywire and makes life miserable for him and whichever establishment is taking care of him leading to him being sedated, and we didn't want that for him or anyone else. So, I did my research - a LOT of research. We were driving to Florida; so, we were willing to entertain just about anywhere within the confines of the Houston Metro if they would take the best care of our oh-so-delicate, little flower of a German Shedder. Imagine my delight when I came across Tail Waggers and saw that they were just down FM 646 from me! I took Lu in for the day to see how he'd do, and I couldn't have asked for a better result! Lucian LOVES Tail Waggers. He made some new canine and human friends while he was there for doggy day care. Time to go to Florida! Lucian didn't even look back when he got there that day! He just took off in search of new and old friends. We didn't get a single call for the five days we were gone which was good news. They asked if we'd like for him to have a bath before we picked him up. Heck yeah! You ever try bathing a 110 lb soapy, escape artist? Yes, bath! Bathe him, please! We got home, and I picked him up the next day. I could tell he'd had the time of his life! As it turned out, there were a few other GSD's there that weekend - all female. Of course, they all bossed him around which I'm sure he loved. In a nutshell, if you've got a high strung dog that doesn't do well in kennel situations - this is YOUR place. These are the nicest people on the planet. The dogs get loads of supervised play time. It's like camp for dogs. Takes your dog out three times a day at no charge most places I've seen double the fee for one day just to take them out for 15 min, they take them out three times for 30 min a pop! Owner is very knowledgeable and even did some work with my dog at no charge. (My dog didn't like other dogs) he ask permission to work with her over the weekend, and had videos waiting for me to show me the work he did and my dog made huge improvements. This was my first time boarding dogs and I was very nervous. My one dog is adopted from a shelter and is nervous at a baseline. I was definitely worried that he would be a mess when I picked him up Well (to my complete surprise) both dogs did so well. Usually they are super needy when I get home and this time they were great. You could tell they had a fantastic time and had enough exercise. Both of my dogs are large (over 50lbs) and very active. My German Shepherd needs to be run at least 3 miles 4 times a week otherwise his energy translates to nerves. Understandably, I did not want to board them somewhere that they could not exercise. I've taken my dogs to this kennel several times for the past three years. My dogs were happy and I had never had any problems until a few days ago. When I picked up my dogs, I noticed that my oldest dog's face was swollen like the size of a grapefruit. I was worried about my dog; she wasn't acting like her usual self. I took my dog to the veterinarian as soon as possible. Both of my dogs had bite wounds. He claims the incident happened four days before the pick-up. He "guessed" that maybe there was food aggression or that he (our younger dog) was protecting her (our older dog) from ANOTHER dog. He stated he did not know and was not responsible for their actions. We asked why he didn't try calling us to inform us about the incident. He claimed he tried and no one answered. I found this disturbing and hard to believe. Before we dropped off the dogs, he called my cellphone to tell us the drop off time. We don't have a landline and my wife and I both have cell phones, which have voicemail. I wished he would've called. I would have had one of my friends take her to the vet and not let my dog suffer for four days before I picked them up.. read more

We have used Tail Waggers since they opened with no problems . Many , many of our friends use Tail Waggers because of our recommendation . Last week we were on vacation for seven days and when we picked up our pup his eye was matted shut . After pointing this out to the owner he said he hadn't noticed it and he tried to clean his eye with no success so we immediately went to our vet . The vet said the eye was badly lacerated and infected and must be removed . WE ARE DEVASTATED ! The vet said if it would have treated earlier , the pups eye could have been saved . We pointed this out to the owner of Tail Waggers and he seemed unconcerned . After he was informed we were NEVER coming back and told we were telling all of our friends of this horrific accident he became apologetic and concerned. We have had two other aquaintances that have issues with Tail Waggers and went elsewhere, but we had not and continued to go . WHAT A HORRIBLE MISTAKE OUR PUP HAS TO LIVE WITH ! I've used Tailwaggers for 4 different stays lately and will be using them again in a few days. I have to travel a lot with my job and I wanted a boarding place that would keep my hyper lab/ terrier mix puppy entertained. I picked Tailwaggers because of the group playtime. They allow your dog to spend a good part of the day wrestling, running and generally having a good time with others, all under staff supervision. When I drop my dog off now, she pulls at the leash and once I take it off - she's gone! Forget separation anxiety, she wants to get outside to play with the other dogs. When I pick her up she's tired and happy (although a touch smelly from all the drool, mud and rolling around- they do offer baths for an extra charge). I really like that she's not pacing a kennel all day and has a chance to socialize with other dogs. They do a good job of checking health records- every animal has to be up on immunizations and flea medications to stay. It is a bit pricey compared to other area boarders, about $5 to 7 more a night. For me it's worth it to know my mutt is enjoying herself and not just sitting alone all day. They are also located very close to my house and I figure the extra $5 is caught up in the gas I save driving to other competitors. The couple that run the place are very nice and accommodating, whenever I pick her up they always mention how she did, which dogs she buddied up with, etc. I will continue to use Tailwaggers for boarding, despite the slightly higher price I feel they offer a higher quality experience than other area places that more than makes up for it. read more

When I first moved here from MO 3 yrs ago I tried 4 different groomers before finding Tailwaggers. I have been using them for over a year and love their services. I use their grooming for my smaller dog Daisy about every 6 weeks and for Max every 3 mon. Daisy is an Eskipoo and not an easy groom to get the look I want. The cut is always right on target and if I want anything changed they always accommodate. I also use them for my boarding needs and feel completely comfortable leaving them. They have different diets and I just bring their food labeled and again I am readily accommodated. The rates are reasonable and everyone very friendly. Really happy I found them. read more

We LOVE this place! Have been taking our very large male Lab/Pyrenees mix there since he was a puppy. We have NEVER had ANY issues that the others have stated below our comment..EVER! Both owners are insanely attentive, knowledgeable, caring and even give helpful suggestions when needed. The younger staff is also caring, nice and accommodating at all times. We have had our dog groomed, washed and nails clipped too many times to count and have never been displeased. We have also used Dr. Terrell when he came to the kennel. I haven't boarded a pet in a long time so I was surprised that when I dropped off my pet I was told he would need his shot for kennel cough,needless to say I paid,no problem. I brought his own food,a toy. When I booked I ask for and was told he would be bathed for an extra fee,once agin no problem.i dropped off my pet and then realized I didn't double check that he would indeed get groomed,I called and was told no the groomer was already booked (even though this reservation was made on a Wednesday). I said fine I will just bathe him when I pick him up don't bathe him..I picked up my pet on Saturday and was told oh yeah the groomer had him down and he was bathed.when I questioned the gentleman behind the desk I guess he could sense I wasn't real happy,he didn't charge me (glad he didn't).i really don't think the dog was bathed,they may have sprayed something on him but his coat and skin where dirty.I just wasn't pleased,and I really don't think I will use them again read more
