Huge fatal flaw from the single most important customer service person, the Owner! The owner created an opportunity to engage with the customer by being seemingly interested, in asking how was the food. Instead of engaging with the customer, he was abrupt and purely transactional and acted only like a cashier, taking money and giving back the change, then hurriedly left the customer in the dust. The food was just ok, nothing to wow over. It's sad the owner was not a wow factor either. Will not be back for the ok food. read more

Everything about this place is the real deal. My family had the chicken Bombay, Murg vindaloo, and palak paneer- with a side of naan. This food was SO DELICIOUS. I am always happy to eat Indian food. We were walking and exploring Salzburg old town and while on our way we saw this place. This place looks like it's family run serving gluten free, halal meat and jain food. The decor is very pleasing and I felt like I was in India. The restaurant is not very big, so I strongly advise that you book a table in advance. The choice of dishes is extensive and they look like they are cooked with care and attention to detail. I wanted Goat curry but it was not on the menu so I went with the lamb curry with garlic naan. The portion is small and the flavor was ok. Next time I visit, I would up the spicy level in my opinion. We had a very lovely experience at Taj Mahal. We were there during the holiday season and the restaurant was bustling and busy, however we were able to be seated right away. The staff are very friendly and the food is amazing. I am from the San Francisco Bay area and have had some of the greatest Indian food of my life and I can proudly say that Taj Mahal had one of the most amazing butter chicken dishes I have ever tasted. All of the dishes were great including the beer and wine. We also ordered veggie pakora as well as regular naan and turbo naan. We were curious about the turbo so we thought we would give it a try, it is super spicy. Be prepared. Overall experience was great and we will definitely be back if we find ourselves in Salzburg again. read more

Craving for a good Indian meal, we went over to this restaurant in Salzburg. On a really busy summer Saturday evening, and with them being short staffed, the quality of service did drop a little. However they kept their spirits and game up and fed us some really good food. The Malai Kofta and the Paneer Makhni were excellent. The chicken and paneer tikkas were good if not the best we've eaten. The owner and his staff are really friendly. We are Indians and love trying Indian food around the world. The food was authentic, flavorful, spicy (spice blends) to our liking. The owner and his son were so personable and kind. My sister and I found this restaurant on yelp. It was also close to our accommodations, so I cannot comment on parking. They were busy for Christmas season, but quickly and efficiently accommodated us without a reservation. We are vegetarian and figured Indian was an easy and good option for us. It was indeed. The palak panner is one of my favorites and theirs was delicious. Generous with the cheese in it (definitely not the case where I live in Texas). All of the food was excellent, English great. Believe them when they say the jalapeño nan is spicy! We could barely eat it, but that was our fault for not listening to their advice. Both came with rice, and were about 14 Euros each. The food had a good presentation, chicken was lean and cooked fine. The flavor on both the dishes was just okay, not wow - did not blow me away. My expectations were high after seeing the Yelp reviews. I believe the flavor, spices and hotness has been toned down considerably for Europeans not used to Indian spices. If you are from the UK or US and have had good Indian food, you will likely not be thrilled. On the good side, service was very good (5 stars). There were 4 or 5 employees that came by to make sure we were served well and got the attention. In most Indian restaurants service usually leaves a lot to be desired. Long travel day with a rushed trip to multiple sights here in Salzburg left us really hungry dinner. It was getting late so we opted for take away. Thankfully Indian sounded good and Taj Mahal was right around the corner. We ordered the Tikka Masala, butter chicken, Palak Paneer, rice and garlic naan. When we went into the restaurant it smelled fantastic!! We were also very happy to see a lot of locals there. Got back to the hotel and were extremely happy!
