Even if you're not vegan, you will love the food here so much you won't even miss the meat and byproduct! All ingredients are fresh and food is seasoned exceptionally well. The menu is seasonal, but if you get a chance to have the homemade pasta you shouldn't hesitate. The restaurant itself feels like it is built into a cellar and there are plenty of plants and shabby-chic touches that make the space really endearing. Our service was excellent and they were very helpful in making suggestions. Reservations are recommended.

So so tasty! Be sure to make a reservation just to play it safe. The staff were totally friendly. I'm vegan and I loved the risotto. The Pak Choy was good but it was a bit too rich for my palette. Portions seem small but they are super filling. It's a higher priced place but the food is worth it. Also, I recommend the Prosecco.

The Green Garden in Salzburg Austria is a Vegan - Vegetarian eatery. It was on our "must eat there" list for a few months. We started by sharing the "Vegan Fritattensuppe" which is a typical Austrian pancake soup. The soup was outstanding! It came served in a black bowl which made it very visually appealing because of the clear broth. Every ingredient was visible and inviting. Who doesn't like visually appealing meals LOL... My entrée was the "Flammkuchen" which is a Tarte flambée topped with zucchini, pears, spinach and camembert (soft French grated cheese). To me it was basically a delectable flatbread topped with goodies that were all organic and fresh. It was excellent! After running through the Bavarian Alps eating heavy traditional Austrian foods, this was a delightful light meal that hit the spot! As we ate, the owner Julia Platzer introduced herself and we immediately engaged her in conversation. Her restaurant has been in operation for 4 years after much planning. She had to seek permission from the locals to open her eatery and it has grown it to a 5-star gastronomic experience that is worth seeking out. She is going to be featured on a syndicated television restaurant series highlighting exemplary chefs and restaurants. Julia also opened a dessert store front just two doors down. Featuring some "healthier" choice gelatos like a muesli blend... She insisted we visit her other storefront after our meal. Then fed us wonderful complimentary gelatos that seemed to have no end LOL!!! We were stuffed, content and extremely pleased with our "must eat there" choice. We even got to peek into the kitchen and meet most of the staff.

Amazing. As a tourist, I've been eating a lot of carbs/meat and not enough greens. Luckily, Salzburg has this hidden gem, not in the main area of the town but worth the walk. My travel companion Sherry and I arrived around 6 on a Friday night and were seated immediately. The restaurant interior was really nice and calm, and it had a creative garden theme with white/green colors and small fences surrounding the tables. The kind servers gave us cups with a jug of water and the menu - the last 2 pages are in English. For appetizers, we ordered the Wild Herb Salad with Deep Fried Egg. Presentation was beautiful (orange flower petals for color accent, if you're a fan of visuals/plating) and the salad was really refreshing. I loved how we could taste every ingredient put in. Sherry didn't like the bitterness of one of the herbs, but I liked how it contrasts with the sweet/tangy dressing. The egg was interesting - the inside was perfectly soft boiled and the breading gave it a savory flavor. For our main dish, we shared the Eggplant Curry with Quinoa and Yogurt. I'm not usually a fan of eggplant, but this worked! Surprisingly, it tasted close to Japanese curry than Indian curry. Everything about this was good, though I wished they didn't put in pomegranate seeds. Overall, I'd definitely give this 5 stars! Great service, soothing atmosphere, and yummy and healthy food. If I had stayed in Salzburg longer, I would come back and try more dishes! ***Yelp 100 Challenge 2017 (70/100)

Awesome!!! I can't go without meat. But this honestly convinced me that vegetarian can be very tasty and fantastic food Its a little pricey maybe. But the quality is so high that the prices are easily justified! Try it!

    Hummus-eggplant Pizza

So, I've been here before, about a year ago and even though I adore vegan cuisine I wasn't impressed last time, the food was okay but I've had better. But I decided to give it a second chance because I was rather convinced that I just didn't order the right thing.. We booked a table for dinner and were even able to sit outside (their outdoor seating area is really nice because Nonntal, the district where it's located is super pretty, so make sure you can sit outside if the weather allows it), as an appetizer my friend and I shared tempura-aspargus, served with two kinds of dips one of them being a strawberry-mint one and it worked unexpectedly well with the vegetable. We both ordered the eggplant-hummus pizza and they told us that it would take a little longer since they have quite a few pizza orders in and not that much space in the oven which is totally understandable since they aren't a pizza place or an italian restaurant... A big thumbs up for service and hospitality because they brought out a little amuse bouche after the appetizer to make up for the long wait for the pizza. A lemon/basil sorbet in prosecco, oh my so good! The pizza itself was good, a little too much hummus, but nevertheless delicious and we finished all of it. All in all great service, good food and definitely an enrichment for Salzburg's restaurant scene, it's great to see some diversity between all the Austrian and Italian restaurants!

I'm not a vegetarian but I was absolutely blown away by this place. The food was absolutely incredible! The staff was very kind and made room for me even when they were fully booked and I did not have a reservation. I definitely want to visit this place again and have it bookmarked for any future visits to Salzburg.

My husband and I visited The Green Garden on our vacation to Salzburg. We went on a Wednesday night and they were booked! However, they graciously made room for us at their counter. Thankfully, the staff spoke English (sadly we have not picked up German). They were very helpful and kind. Their food, although not traditional Austrian cuisine, was refreshing. I had the veggie burger and sweet potato fries with coriander sauce - both were excellent! This restaurant prides itself on vegan/veggie cuisine and they definitely make it tasty! Thanks for the great meal in Salzburg!

I desperately needed a green lunch after feeling like I've eaten one too many meals that aren't veggie centric. The Buddha bowl I ordered tasted as beautiful as it looks in the picture. The pomegranate seed were a nice touch. Even if you aren't a vegan/vegetarian (I'm not!), you'll enjoy anything you order here. The veggie burger and wraps at other tables looked tasty. The only reason I gave this place four stars is because I thought it was a hint pricey. Don't let this deter you! The quality of food is top notch.

Delicious food! I highly recommend this restaurant even for non vegetarians. Cute small place with a nice interior and some outside tables near the university. If you're staying in the old part of town it's a quick walk through some of the less touristy streets. We were told to get reservations on a Wednesday (and were given the impression on the phone that we're getting the last table) but it was only half full at 6:30pm when we arrived. Both regular pasta and wheat free pasta were great with friendly staff.

The truly wonderful Buddha bowl and lentil veggie burger with fries. :)

We only had time for two meals in Salzburg (dinner and then breakfast the next day) and we made sure to have both of them at The Green Garden! :) For dinner we got the Buddha bowl and the lentil veggie burger. They were really, truly wonderful, but the meal I'll be dreaming about for years was the vegan breakfast combo platter. O. M. G. There was an incredible variety of options that came with this platter... from the sweet to the savory to the fresh off/on the vine. I'm posting a picture since there's just too much goodness to try to describe it all. :) Also, the ginger, lemon tea was SO good and really hit the spot. :)

    Lentil salad - yum!!!

You can tell every piece of furniture is carefully chosen to give the feeling of a second home, and each dish is lovingly created. For example, our earthy and addictive soy milk cappuccinos came out with different milk leaves, and the menus are cutely printed on large playing cards. As for the dishes: - Tofu scramble - this is delicious and satisfying as a meal. The spices and flavoring are perfect and I am determined to replicate this when I get home! It is almost indistinguishable from scrambled eggs. The breads are also tasty and feel healthy. - Chia seed pudding - this is refreshing and the raspberry works well with the unique texture that chia seed creates. Again, tasty and addictive. I'm excited to see where this place goes, and I regret not being able to try more dishes. My sister and I both enjoyed this place, as omnivores who needed a break from the heavy meat and carby dishes we were eating in Austria. This place felt warm and welcoming rather than the hipsterly pretention you sometimes see in health-conscious places. Definitely come give this place a try!

The atmosphere of the resturant was very groovy and ecentric. As well as, very clean. However the food was not great.. at all. They were plated very well but the chili was acidic and a lot of sour cream, which made the bowl gooey. The Gado gado sauce, which we thought was peanut sauce, was a weird and sweet consistency. We added a plethora of spices and still it did not change much. In addition, our food was sitting at the counter for awhile because we were told they would call our number, so it was also a little cold. However the water was free, which is something rare for europe. Personally I would not return.

I saw at least two locations of my Indigo- both near the center of Salzburg. One has dine-in seating, the other does not. And drink, of course. Gablerbräu wasn't technically open when we stopped in (about five minutes before their official open time), but the awesome waiter at the door invited us in from the cold, and told us to grab a table at the dining room in the back. Once settled, he came back to our table to offer menus and get our beer orders. I went with a Gösser Märzen, and my husband ordered their Hausbier. After a bit of menu perusing, we both decided to go for their Schnitzel. The scents coming from the kitchen as we sat there, sipping our beers (the Märzen initially disappointed based on the color alone, but I did enjoy the malty flavor and the hint of a hoppy bite) got my stomach grumbling. I don't know what they were cooking up, but the scents of roasted meat, fresh bread, garlic and spices had me practically drooling in expectation. The schnitzel did not disappoint, though I do wish I'd chosen another dish - only because I now wish we had sampled more than one of their offerings. The breading on the schnitzel was crisp, never got soggy, and the meat was juicy and flavorful. The potatoes were buttery, and the tart bite provided by the cranberry-like sauce added another nice layer. We finished our meal with a second pint (I went with the Hausbier for my second round, following my husband's glowing review of it. I did enjoy it - it had an unexpected dark flavor and a bit of hoppiness) and a lot of fun conversation with our waiter. This was one spot we considered revisiting before leaving Salzburg, but the timing didn't work out (the next day was Christmas Eve, and they were closed up through the 26th). Still, as I mentioned above, it set the tone for all the wonderful food and beverage we consumed, as well as the friendly and accommodating service we received. Highly recommended!
