Taki's Greek Kitchen is so warm and cozy inside - which I wasn't expected since it's in a strip mall plaza! It had a decent amount of guests, being a Monday night in January. We always enjoy coming to Taki's. It's the best Greek restaurant we've been to. I had the Pikilia, that was a skewer of beef and pork with sausage, onions and peppers and Yukon gold potatoes. It was delicious! My wife had the Moussaka and she loved it. Our prompt, friendly service from Darrien on a busy Saturday night was great. The inside was cozy with a center room fireplace and view of the chef's cooking the fabulous food. It was my first time here and I was very impressed! We walked in on a Saturday evening, it was 5:30. There was only one table occupied, but apparently all the other tables were spoken for with reservations bc we were told we needed to be out by 6:30. We were seated next to the fireplace and it was super cozy! Our server was warm, welcoming, positive, and friendly. She was awesome! We got spinach pies and the spicy hummus for an app and both were delicious!! We each got a "gyro" for our meal. My husband got a chicken one and I got the eggplant one. We agreed they were both good, but would want to try something else next time. The surprising winner was the little side salad our meals came with. The dressing was DELICIOUS ! Such a cute cozy place! We stopped by on a Tuesday and got one of the last tables. Our server was nice, our food was nicely paced - we got an app to share and 2 entrees. I got the moussaka and it tasted just like it did in Greece. The ekmek for dessert was awesome. Can't wait to go back and try something else! read more

Something happened to me recently at Taki's that has not happened to me in decades of eating out. I asked our server to see if the bartender could put an extra cherry in my and my companion's cocktails. The drinks arrived with the extra garnish. Imagine our surprise when we were charged $2 -- a buck each -- for the added cherries. We were flabbergasted. I gave the restaurant one star -- the food and service actually merited four+ stars -- because bad reviews tend to draw attention and I wanted all who read this to be aware of this outrageous extra charge. I've been dining at Taki's for 11 years. the menu offers amazing, authentic Greek dishes, along with seafood, beef, lamb dishes, and vegetarian options, They also prep creative salads, and desserts(!!) with great drink and wine choices. Most of all, Taki, Steve, Angel and the other servers and food prep crews always make me feel welcomed and valued. It took forever to get the correct meal--many of our group were done when I received my meal. It was very difficult to eat due to the size of chicken pieces. Our meal was extremely delicious. For starters, the Avgelemono soup and Saganaki were what we've been hungering for here in Cleveland (coming from Greek restaurant-land, Chicago). The soup was thick and lemony, and the Saganaki actually flambeed, not just pan-fried. Taki's is great, but it is pretty difficult as a celiac! I did not even make it through dinner..... That said, our server was wonderful, and did her best. My gyro-connoisseur husband liked, but did not love the gyro. The pita bread looked amazing, and I was told it was. I had the kitchen salad with grilled chicken, which was juicy and flavorful. A group of six of us came to eat on a Tuesday early evening. When I made the reservation I was told that any group of five or more will be charged $25 for each person who doesn't attend. If the numbers change, they must be notified within 24 hours. One of our friends had an emergency at 4pm and had to cancel on us. Clearly, I could not have known this and called it in 24 hours prior. We tried to reason with the owner who would not budge. We certainly understood that if an entire group canceled, or if this was on a weekend, but it was on a Tuesday and our number difference did not change the table size. There are emergencies that occur and should be considered, but the owner would not accommodate us. To add insult to injury, the website states that parties of TEN or more will be subject to this policy, NOT a group of six. Our group will not be going back to Taki's. read more

We took our friend there for her birthday and it was sublime. But this is Taki! Is anyone surprised? I had a heavenly spaghetti with shrimps, oysters and something else. It was so good. Taki's been in restaurant business all his life and you can tell. One of my friends had an enormous salad and the birthday girl had fish. The three of us were ready to lick our plates. Well, I will say that sitting near that big fireplace was a bit warmer than we wanted, but everything else about the place was great. The atmosphere was elegant and quiet. The servers were attentive and very nice. The food was GREAT. We had the saganaki (can't go to a Greek place and not get it), the roasted chicken, the lavraki, and the Saturday special (an enormous skewer of chunks of beef, pork, and sausage). The patio was very pleasant and easy to hear everyone in your group talk. All the food we ordered was delicious! The grape leaves are a must and their tzatziki is so good! We stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant as out-of-towners because it was on our way back from the hospital. What a find! Lovely ambience and Angel seated us near the cozy fireplace. It was not crowded at 8 pm on a weekday. Excellent service! We shared calamari with fresh tzatziki, and fresh pita and hummus. I had the excellent pork chops and he had Arni Youvetsi (lamb shank with orzo) and we finished both because they were delicious. We were stoping for an early lite dinner and had decided to skip any appetizers and just order mains. The apps were impressive as they offered both hot and cold ones. We have enjoyed them on past visits. I also ordered a glass of wine which was promptly served from a nice wine list. Both entrees were served extremely fast and on point. My only issue was my wife had requested ketchup and I also reminded the waiter that we did not receive a bread basket. He acknowledged both but got caught up servicing other tables.
