Very small train station…read more I was advised to arrive at least 45 minutes before scheduled departure time. They only have one window to handle a boarding pass. If you arrive in the last minutes, queue may be long. Despite of being a small depot, their bathroom is pretty sizable. Actual flushing toilet inside, in face they may be the cleanest bathroom in town. Since a train doesn't originate from this station, a train may arrive early or late but the staff will inform you when they are about 15 minutes away.

We stayed at a garden cabin with no hot water, no shower, no toilet within. Outhouse is behind the cottage. We were warned no running water a week before arrival but running water became available by the time we arrived. A cottage has a sink, microwave oven, hot water kettle and coffee machine. A gas fireplace kept us warm at night. We selected based on walking distance from downtown where great restaurants and shops are available. Innkeeper lives nearby and we saw him always working on something. He said he is working to get hot water to this particular cottage and eventually install a shower and a toilet. He was a very hard working and nice person. He came us to pick us up from a bus stop and offered us to take to the train station (both are within a walking distance). If not taking a shower for a few days do not bother you, this is a great little place with privacy and quietness. I even spotted moose twice from a safe distance! I felt like it was a true Alaskan experience for studying a cottage like this.
