After traveling throughout Mexico for more than 30 years, I can honestly say this was the rudest and most unpleasant customer service I've ever experienced from any business. The atmosphere is incredibly unwelcoming. Instead of feeling invited in, you're greeted by signs in ALL CAPS everywhere telling customers what NOT to do: "DON'T LOOK," "DON'T STAND," "DON'T SIT," "DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE COUNTER." It feels more like you're being scolded than welcomed as a customer. The staff were dismissive, unfriendly, and seemed completely uninterested in providing even basic customer service. My impression is that because they're located so close to Hotel California, they have a constant stream of tourists and don't feel they need to treat customers with respect. Their business appears to rely on foot traffic rather than repeat customers. After leaving, I asked a local vendor what they thought about the place. They told me that hardly any locals go there and described the owners as "mala gente" (bad people). Whether that's true or not, it certainly matched the experience I had. There are plenty of other places in town where you'll receive a warm welcome, better service, and food or ice cream that's worth your money.
