We saw the Rubber Ducks were in town (or, is it Rubberducks, all one word?), so we figured we'd take in a game. We've been to several minor league ballparks in the past, but Canal Park might literally be the best one so far! It's right in the heart of downtown Akron, which doesn't initially "feel" like where baseball should be played. (Historically speaking, though, it's spot-on!) But, this place fits in perfectly with its surroundings. Because it's a smaller stadium, you're almost on the field, it feels! There doesn't appear to be a bad seat in the joint, and it is very easy to walk around and soak in the atmosphere. My one minor complaint was how small the team store is, but that's honestly kind of true at most minor league places. They had to limit the number of patrons, though, but the line moved quickly. No more than 5 minutes tops. The concessions were out of the ordinary and out of this world in some cases! We had read up on them before going. Be sure to look up "canal park extreme food" before going. Trust me, you'll thank me. At least you'll know what you're in for! We got "The Screamer," which is a 21-scoop 5-pound sundae served in a full-sized batting helmet. Yes, you read that correctly. No, I am not making that up. I added the picture to verify that I did not go insane. It was WAY TOO MUCH for the three of us to even put a dent in! We might have gotten through 40% of it... maybe... but I don't think so. It's a bit of a shame, though, because we wound up wasting a lot of it. If you're going to order this, be sure to bring at least 6 people who don't mind eating out of the same giant bowl. Maybe 4 really hungry people? Good luck. They have other extreme foods there, but we weren't able to get to any others. Shot our bolt on the sundae! But, anyway... Concession prices are very affordable, at least compared to major league prices. You can definitely find some bargains here as well. So, you have an intimate setting, reasonable prices, great seats, extreme foods, and a great ticket prices. I don't know what more you could ask for. This was an absolutely wonderful experience, one that we would readily do again without question!

The stadium can seat a large capacity, but UA fans were in small numbers. I think Wyoming fans were probably half of the crowd. Seating is general admission unless you buy something fancier. That was a perk as it allowed us to see where we preferred to be, which ended up being at the 50yd line, third row, right behind the Wyoming bench. Cheers.

More than just a slide and swings, there is some variety in the available activities for the kiddos, including a standup seesaw, and a little boat hammock. And something I'd never seen, a swing with a seat for a baby/toddler and a larger person to sit facing each other - cool. The trees seem trimmed and maintained, as well as a fresh looking batch of mulch along the ground. Nice place to have fun with the kids.

Large soccer fields and open fields, a nice lake complete with a fishing dock, multiple areas with picnic tables and shade, two different kids play areas, benches and swings, a basketball court, and a hidden gem of a gazebo make this such a desirable park. Negatives: location! Its only entrance for vehicles is off of Silver Meadows BLVD, and this park is backed right up to the Silver Meadows apartments. There have been shootings in the past, there is definitely drug activity, and there have been robberies. It's not often, but it does happen. MY kids LOVE this park! We go there to feed the ducks and geese often. BUT this is a park that I do not bring my kids to unless I am concealed carrying.

Goose turds are another issue altogether. Starting in the spring, be prepared to prevent your dog from eating the turds, if your dog is so inclined. Al Lease is great. We have a walking trail with multiple pathways around a cute little pond. The landscape is well maintained with fresh mulch and mowing accomplished regularly. Along the edge of the manicured areas one can see different flora and fauna including bunnies and even find wild raspberries during the summer. Every spring the geese and goslings spend much time around the park. One can reserve the pavilions for around $20/day through the P&R website. During the appropriate seasons, there are athletics, soccer and baseball are most common. Fishing is a common activity seen when the temperatures are right. There are 2 small playgrounds, one is well designed for younger children and the other is more suited for school age children. As for down sides, the wooden structures like the pavilions, the gazebo, and the deck over the water could use some maintenance. Occasionally the mosquitoes get out of hand. Given that the park has a pond, and marshes, this is expected. The City of Kent usually controls this with mosquito spraying but during the height of mosquito season, bring repellent just in case the spraying hasn't been done yet.
