North Park is a nice place to spend an afternoon. There's a little something for everyone here…read more This part features (from their website): a picnic shelter, restrooms, fully- accessible playground, 1.1 mile paved walking track, seven athletic fields used for baseball, softball, soccer and lacrosse, a multi-use track used for skating and bicycling, seven ballfields, six tennis courts, four basketball courts and two sand volleyball courts. I like to walk a few laps around the track when the weather permits. There's usually a few others on the path as well, but it's never been too crowded. One bad thing about the track is there seems to be a lot of goose poop near the pond. I've also shot some hoops on the court before. It gets super busy on the weekends, so you might want to think about going somewhere else unless you're trying to get in on a pickup game. The rims are very stiff as well which doesn't make it very fun. Find a way to get rid of the geese (or at least the poop) and add a fenced in dog park, and this place would get another star.

I love how the family was linked to the Seiberling family. (Basically they were in the railroad industry and transported their tires). The house is large, but not flashy nor extravagant. Just well-decorated and captures a snapshot of the era(s) when they lived there. I am excited go back at christmastime.

There is a number of things to see and explore ; from The Manor House( the former H.B. Stewart family home) to fishing at the 2-acre Shady Lane Pond, a stunning garden or mountain bike trails- this is a great park for all to enjoy! If you have children, there is a wonderful nature center with hands on activities, a large playground and live animals such as owls & hawks. You can also enjoy camping, plenty of hiking trails & even cross-country skiing during the colder months. My best friends had their wedding ceremony in the garden last summer...a lot of great options for pictures from a stone arch wall, the gazebo to the beautiful flowers themselves. The Exploration Gateway is off of 12th St and right on Sippo Lake. They have a nature center, gift shop, several meeting rooms where they host special events, and a branch of the Stark County Library. There are several short trails branching off from the building and parking lots, at least some of which are stroller friendly. There is also a small playground.

I think it's a shining gem and the area Metro Parks network. The park is segmented into at least three sections (it could be more, honestly). My personal favorite, and most frequently visited, is the archery range. Even if this was all the part consisted of, it would be the gem by itself. Anything like this I've found down south would come at a fee and still not be so well maintained. Then there's the XC course combined with the disc golf course. Just to sit or walk here taking in the broad vistas is a meditative experience for me. The entire place is cleaned and mowed frequently. Even in winter it can be breathtaking. To be honest, I haven't even made it to the main section of the park featuring the pond and trails where you can kayak and hike. All of this for the price of your tax dollars already paid. Still I see these places lightly visited and, therefore, even more worth your time.

First off I want to say I've been coming here for 20+ years. Very disappointed with the upkeep…read more Very very dirty water! Looks like it would get you sick if you swallowed it. It stunk so bad I didn't want to put my head under. Literally felt like I was swimming in Mogadore Lake. The bottom is mushy and a weird green algae/muck comes up every time you walk in the water. The edges are so slippery with algae I almost fell a couple times. It's actually unsafe. Also theres a weird white film on top of the water. Disgusting! There's turtles swimming in the deep end. Where is the chlorine? $20 a piece to not be able to swim in the deep end or get on the diving boards. Very very disappointing. To be honest, I don't think will ever return. It's really went downhill. Sad..
