A summer favorite. There is the paved trail that is convenient to walk on or ride your bike. But I love the long path trail for a nice hike. It's about 2-3 miles total to loop around via long trail. There's lots to do here too. Miniature golf. Pool. Picnic and more. If you want to spend an awesome day in nature Definately give this place a try. Parking is $8. The pool is $20 for the whole day but you cant bring food inside. They do have plenty of food for sale tho. read more

Great parking, which is free now, and they have bathrooms CONS: unclear trail markers and no maps throughout the trails. Easy to get lost. OMG I love this park !! I wanted to go hiking with my dogs and I found this park. The parking lot is great, huge. The park is divided into hiking trails, bbq place, games and pool. You can come here and go hiking with your dogs, then paths are clear, is extremely clean, you won't find anything trash anywhere. My dogs had a lot of fun in the park, you can go inside the trails of the forest, or you can stay on the asphalt trail. We did both and they were amazing. We decided to go and explored the BBQ area, the view is spectacular, you will feel an interior peace. In the bbq area you can find benches you can sit and meditate or see the lake view. We were surprised that even in the BBQ Area they were no trash, everyone here takes all the trash with them. They have different spots that people can do BBQ but only one has a big cabin, I don't know if you need to reserve the big one, but my guess is that yes LOL. If you come here, remember you need to take all your trash!!! and have fun !!!! read more

This park is very beautiful and great for Hikes. They provide limited parking which is free during the week but they do charge on weekends. During summer hours if you do not come early the parking came be full. They have a Pool that is Seasonal during summer days only. For Pool members parking is free. They provide a playground and Bbq area with bathroom facilities. While hiking I see deer and beautiful butterflies it's very peaceful . read more

This park is a carry out your own garbage park - great idea ! The park itself has some BBQ grills and picnic tables. Bring your own supplies to clean grills up . There are bathrooms throughout picnic area but the only one open during official off season is located at play area near entrance . There is a bike/walk path , nicely paved . I love this park, it is absolutely beautiful. For the most part, visitors are considerate and respectful; it would be nice if more groups/parties would obey the carry in carry out rule- meaning take your garbage and throw it in the trash can, or bring it out with you to discard in a trash can elsewhere . Also, there is a middle aged woman who walks her two large dogs. She can be passive aggressive when it comes to walking in other peoples' personal space. Reactive or not, and even with advance warning, this woman will approach others and their dogs way too closely with hers - potentially leading into to a preventable and unnecessary situation. It seems she feels entitled and will ignore all of the social cues- if you happen to be in her path or way, she behaves like you are an inconvenience that is in her way, and she will approach you with her two dogs to make you feel uncomfortable . It is pretty unusual social behavior , but it is something to consider if you might happen to have a small child, small pet or reactive pet with you. read more

State Parks are seemingly one of the less attended things to do when we're thinking -- propped up on our couches on an early Saturday morning within just about every season save Winter, but don't let that deter you. A little cold never killed anyone, but as your driving up Tallman Mountain and the trail narrows and tilts a bit, it's best we keep winter out of the trips that have cliffs and dropoffs. However, it is for certain that I've been taking those Saturday morning thoughts and putting them into getting the rubber turning on the road. It may sound silly, but I pack food poorly - a foodie like myself -- I should be preparing delicious meals, gosh, I've got multiple coolers (yes, a YETI is one). But for whatever reason I just bounce on out of the city like I'm shot out of a cannon, relying on last year's canned foods to bail me out. So we circled around reading the signs which had no bearing on our decision, just read everything and you'll remain on the right side of correctness. With capacity being under fifty percent, we were able to snag a little cut out of parking, close to picnic tables and restrooms with a little walk to the cliffs edge to look down upon the marsh land. Another group of people were having a birthday celebration, in the rain and some cared not be and others huddled closely together with ponchos and umbrellas. Good for those that accepted the rain and continued to enjoy the party. But for us, we walked the trails a good way, had a little picnic lunch -- day on the bench and breathed in the air and let out body and mind heal from the citys problems. read more

Loved by many in the Bergen County residents - Tallman Moubtain State Park. Whether you take the PIP or 9W, on your way to Piermont or Nyack, we advise the newcomers to take a detour to Tallman Park. There will be MANY bicyclists on weekends on 9W, and cars will be parked on the shoulders of 9W, all the way from Tallman Park entrance to The 9W Market. Especially at 9W Marker because there is a cozy "free" parking - for about 12 cars - near the market. We always take the "Red' path which is Bicycle Path, an easy, even, wide path for anyone. If you take the "Blue", it is narrow, and you will have to keep both eyes on the path due to pebbles and tree roots. Can be quite tiring. Any time of the season. You will not regret. read more

There's multiple trails for amateur hikers or casual hikers. I would label the trails as easy with minor moderate paths. There's bicycling paved paths as well. My hike started in the parking lot after you enter the park by turning right from Rockland road (not from 9W parking lot). There's a dirt trail that starts at the main parking lot and from there switch off to the long trail. There's a pretty great view of the Hudson - I got here by randomly making a left turn from the main road/driveway. Overall I couldn't really tell where I was and just went with it mostly following the green trail. You can't really get lost if you follow the Hudson. Overall these trails could be better marked but outside of hiking there's plenty picnic areas - great for BBQ! read more

If you ever wanna take super hipster autumn engagement photos this is the place. There is such much beauty packed into a small place here. Usually you have to go on a super long hike where you could die alone miles away from the trailhead...BUT NOT HERE. And that is worth five stars all on its own. You make your way to the top and it's beautiful looking down. It's also beautiful just getting to the top. I went on Veterans day and no one was there. I am not sure how it is on the weekend but when I go for hikes on weekends anywhere I am the first one there and the first one to depart. I will definitely be back...probably to take engagement photos one day. read more

Nice park with a large and well shaded picnic area, great for large groups. Also in the park is a swimming pool with a cafe. There are many parks in the area that are larger, but I though Tallman Mountain state park was well kept and a little charming. There is also mini golf wight by the entrance for $4 a game, but the course did not look very inviting. read more

This was a suggestion by a friend who was finally deciding to get in touch with nature. I came here at the end of winter. Most of the snow had just melted. It was very empty. I'm not a fan of crowds, so this was a great time for me to go. From the highest point of the trail you get a pretty nice view. read more

Came here in the dead of winter with my mother. The views are spectacular in their own wintery way. The view of the Hudson and the Tappan bridge are awesome in an understated way. The air feels crisp and clean. Looking over a cliff, you can see a small village of some kind that seems really cute. The spot my mom and I went to seems to have been a popular spot among older families. Definitely nice for a little family affair or a barbecue (during the summer). I can't wait till it's summer and bust out some charcoal. read more

Reviewing the pool club. Went here for a band that was playing. The menu says a 20% service charge is applied to any table service however the bartenders for walk up also added the 20% without telling you. They seem to hide this unless asked then when charging your card they ask for tip. The female bartenders sucked the male bartender was honest. This is shameful as its likely the servers are not going to see their forced tip. I wouldnt go here again simply because of this management decision to be so deceptive. read more

I went to the state park with a Meetup group and the hike was very meh. The trails are somewhat marked but I'm not sure where the map came from. The hike was mostly flat and there wasn't much elevation gain either. Pretty boring hike; I would not recommend it. read more

A great little historic area. This site is great for photos. We took some engagement photos there a few years ago. There is a foot bridge over a Hudson River tributary that allows for panoramic views of the Bear Mountain Bridge. There is a small historic fort area and visitor center. The main trail is easy grade with rocks. It's about half a mile from the Bear Mountain Bridge and state park. It was perfect for our 8 year old niece who is not accustomed to the outdoors. While it is in a state of disrepair (crumbling pathways, etc), it has incredible views of hudson, the piermont marsh, and the town of piermont. Trail maintenance could also be better. Wait staff at pool will keep you waiting! Went there last night to hear some music and get some dinner. The greeted informed me that it was a $5 cover(no problem) and to sit anywhere the wait staff will be with us soon. We got a table a proceeded to watch the young wait staff conversing with themselves in no rush to wait on anyone. After 20 minutes we asked if someone could help us and she said someone will be right over, they only came over to grab an extra chair. Another 10 minutes goes by and and the same thing happens. I said you can't have the chair till I get a drink.Soon after that someone moseyed on over to take the order. Mind you they have some kind communication radio devise and an ipad standing around. The food took another 30 minutes to come out but my wifes did not come at the same time. After 10 minutes he came over to ask how is everything. I don't know the rest of the food did not come yet. While the food was OK the wait staff and manager are clueless. They have all this hi tech stuff to streamline the operation when all you need is some good old common sense. Well I guess that's a thing pf the past. Long and short if it is... the music was good, the food is just OK and the wait staff could care less if there were consumers there or not.....Generation to come will never experience good service.... read more

Hiked in from Route 9 by the market. Went on a weekday morning and the lot was empty. Decided to take the footpath and then cross over to the bike path towards the picnic areas. It was mostly empty except for a few walkers and mountain bikers. Footpath was a bit overgrown and not marked super well. However, it's a small park, so not a big deal. The picnic area was a bit sketch. Since you can drive up to that area, we saw a few cars where it looked like people had parked there to sleep overnight. Not a big deal, but as I passed one car, the dude stared us down. Not sure if he thought we were trespassing on his space or that I had a pitbull. Regardless, a female runner was heading up that way and I gave her a heads up. Other then that, out and back starting at the Market lot, you can clock 4-5 miles just strolling around. read more

Don't even think about it. They might be polite, but they're aren't clean. The people don't clean the pool, they over charge you, the bathroom is filled with heaven knows what, and over crowding is a giant issue. I rather drive two hours to the beach then a nearby pool. read more

let me say that i have frequented this place for over 20 years, so i am very biased. that being said; this place is a hidden gem that should be visited. many different trails all over the place (long path obviously is one), many scenic vistas, some harder to find/get to than others. rustic bathrooms, nice ballfield and playground, as well as tennis courts and many, many picnic tables and bbq's. avoid on weekends in summer as the "natives" come and destroy the place. and as a bonus....the magical black panthers of tallman may or may not be here!! so keep your eyes peeled at this can't miss park. some semi famous people have been know to hang around here....william hurt anyone?! read more
