There are restrooms and water fountains in the main parking lot. Bring a bag to keep any garbage! In this park there are no trash cans, you take out what you bring in.

A beautiful view of the shore and a nearby bridge from the park benches, especially during sundown. There is a small playground nearby as well for the kiddies but a word of warning for the shore line walk, there may not be continuous fencing along the water so keep a tight leash on the younger kids. Even though there were plenty of signs warning against fishing, there were observed to be a few fishermen looking for a bite on a quiet summer evening. It was calming to observe the serenity and patience of the fisherman. Parking wasn't difficult (on a Sunday) however, I could see this being problematic on some weekends, as there were many residential street parking restrictions. The main parking lot doesn't provide for much parking.

There is paid street parking nearby now, which makes it easier to find a spot. On weekends, the walkway gets a little crowded. I've come during the day (during the week) and week nights though, and it hasn't been busy. I'm sure when the luxury buildings go up it'll be busier. This is a great place to come if you want to relax or take a stroll by the water. I'll definitely be back for another walk soon.

Hiked up and across, ate the lunch we'd brought at one of the umbrella'ed tables near the playground, and then the skies opened up; drove back to Manhattan on an almost flooded Bronx River Parkway. Grandson back for a visit this year, wanted to go back! Zipcar got more expensive, so I followed the directions on their website using public transportation. DON'T! The website says take Metronorth to White Plains and then a Bee-line bus, #6, to the Dam Plaza. We found the bus stop, and the schedule said 11:43. Perfect, right? Not. 12:43 came and went. Other buses came and went. The #6 never showed up, so finally we took a taxi for $20.00. Took 10 minutes to get there. Better to take a train to Valhalla and walk the less than a mile or Uber for 8.95 or something like that. Watch the schedule for going back to Grand Central, because in the afternoon it seems to run just once an hour. Plan accordingly. Otherwise we had a good time.

Nestled in the heart of White Plains, the Jack Harrington Greenway is a hidden gem that offers a…read moreserene escape to anyone who knows where to look. I used to go for frequent walks after dropping off my kids at daycare nearby. I always enjoyed the vibe and found it to be a great place to get some exercise and enjoy nature. It's not a very busy spot, so you'll most likely you'll have the trail to yourself. In all the times I've ventured along the greenway, I've only ever seen one or 2 other people walking there. The walk itself is beautiful. To be fair, you can see houses and buildings beyond the trees and greenery at times, but in a weird way you also feel disconnected from the city. While there, I've encountered an abundance of birds, especially woodpeckers making a racket and other small animals like rabbits, chipmunks and even foxes, adding a very nice element to the overall experience. I do want to point out that visitors should be aware of a potential hazard; falling tree parts, especially limbs from the larger trees that line the trail. While the city does a good job maintaining the greenway, you should definitely be careful, especially on windy or stormy days, as good sized pieces occasionally find their way onto the path. Despite this minor concern, the Jack Harrington Greenway remains a charming spot in White Plains, one I highly recommend.

And recently this year, I started exploring the NCT and SCT after a quick loop on the BRP. A portion of the trailway in Ardsley look like under construction (gravel) and I believe is part of the SCT. This is where I first started exploring this trailway and just rode 4 miles north for I am not yet familiar and not sure what to expect. On my next rides I gained some confidence and started exploring further north and was able to reach Yorktown Heights border. I should have started this back in mid-summer but was so focus on the BRP loop which help me improved my laps time but I am not in that pro category... yet. I recommend this trail for cyclist/cylcing-lovers and who loves nature's beauty in Westchester. I am impressed on the improvements that were made in the NCT yet be still on the lookout when you cross the roads specially by Briarcliff Manor area. Alway make yourself visible (use lights) and be corteous to the joggers and fellow cyclist.

It was hosted by a Bangladeshi group who actually come every year for their annual picnic. And they keep coming back to the same place years after years . Which gives you all an idea how pretty, peaceful this place is. And I might add that it is very highly maintained, I appreciate all the hard work by the employees! I did got mad with people for being messy in the restrooms ! And also wish there are multiple restrooms around the area. Because I have seen people stand in line just to use it. There is enough space for it. I have also seen people were jet skewing & looked so much fun. Some of the ladies were saying there is an area where you can actually go to the water , I am looking forward to that next year ! If you live in queens , it's a place you definitely gotta visit . It took us only an hour by bus, so for a family gathering it's perfect. Kids were having so much fun.

Mainly a mountain biker trail, though we were hiking it was still a friendly trail- as we just made sure to stand aside giving the right away- the trail has a good mix of terrain in terms of hills, water views, mini rock climbing, making it a hearty hike without being too challenging. It provided very beautiful views, and a lot of switchback trails to explore-making each hike possible to have a different experience. A very nice visit! Would be great to use as a jogging trail!
