My mind drifts when I run on my treadmill at home. I do it when it's raining. It's just boring. BC (Before CVD), hubs and I would go to the same walking paths. But the beginning of pandemic '20, made us explore different paths and go beyond what we already know. When it comes to running or getting your steps however it is in Westchester, there's no shortage of hitting waterside paths. We've driven by Tarrytown Reservoir- part of the North County Trailway on Old Saw Mill River Rd plenty of times especially if we want to take this less-chaotic back road into Tarrytown from White Plains in less than 10 minutes. You'll notice the parking lot and park/reservoir entrance- which is easily accessible and visible once you're approaching it. Aside from the reservoir and competitive element you get from running (or walking) on the path, this park is a three-fer because there are water activities such as kayaking and canoeing (double-check paddle boarding) in the warmer months. I really think the biggest reward is being with nature and being side by side to the reservoir. If you want a quiet, peaceful run- or just take in nature, this the spot.

Stunning lake and nature walk. Bigger than you'd think! Rather quiet, however lots of bugs.

The paved path along the south side of the lake is 1 mile long, and connects to the North County Trailway (which follows the Saw Mill) at the east end.

It's in front of a development that was Edge on the Hudson before there was Edge on the Hudson (so much for the hype there). Views of the Tappan Zee bridge and Hudson River are unavoidable which is a very good thing. Decent amount of walking paths and benches, in addition to the dedicated picnic area. Plenty of parking although it is paid via the Tarrytown parking app. Playgrounds are a bit dated but in great shape. Everything has soft, spongy ground around it. Good variety for different ages too. Haven't done the splash pad yet because it's winter but it is pretty sizable. Good amount of kids around here without it being overwhelming. Maybe not the most built up park in the area, but my toddler loves it and so do I.

This place was recommended to me by a family friend who has been coming here for years Ana…read more A beautiful spacious park which includes a scenic river walk with gorgeous views of the Hudson River, a playground, tennis court, basketball hoop, and picnic area. Admission is Free but there is a cost for parking Our Experience: we enjoyed spending the afternoon outside on this gorgeous spring day walking along the river walk and playing on the playground. The walk was absolutely stunning and the boys enjoyed walking along the path, exploring the lookout area, seeing the boats in the water and the airplanes/helicopters in the sky. Hands down my favorite part of the day. The playground was adorable with two separate sections designed for kids of all ages. While the equipment was a bit outdated, I loved that it had that soft type ground underneath it to (sort of) pad a fall. Both boys really enjoyed their time there. There is a covered picnic area so feel free to bring food and drinks! There is also a restaurant right there in the park as well as walkable restaurants in the downtown area conveneintly located close by. It was a gorgeous spring day and there were ZERO crowds with only a handful of people walking the path and only one other family on the playground. I was shocked at how quiet it was but thrilled to have the place basically to ourselves. Will go back?: Absolutely YES! CJ keeps asking to go back to "look for sharks in the water" ( lol) and to "play on the red playground" Pro Tip: it is WINDY by the water so whatever the temperature is outside, subtract a few degrees or add a jacket when planning how to dress for the day. #tristatemama #tristatearea #momlife #motherhood #kid #instagood #momsofinstagram #parenting #momblogger #momreviews #familyfun #makingmemories #nature #hudsonriver #1000hoursoutside #westchestercountyny #playgrounds #tarrytownny #nyplayground #strollerfriendly

Nice place for a short stroll…read more The riverwalk isn't extensive but it sure is pretty and there's some well maintained greenery that seems perfect for a small picnic. A beautiful view of the shore and a nearby bridge from the park benches, especially during sundown. There is a small playground nearby as well for the kiddies but a word of warning for the shore line walk, there may not be continuous fencing along the water so keep a tight leash on the younger kids. Even though there were plenty of signs warning against fishing, there were observed to be a few fishermen looking for a bite on a quiet summer evening. It was calming to observe the serenity and patience of the fisherman. Parking wasn't difficult (on a Sunday) however, I could see this being problematic on some weekends, as there were many residential street parking restrictions. The main parking lot doesn't provide for much parking.

There is paid street parking nearby now, which makes it easier to find a spot. On weekends, the walkway gets a little crowded. I've come during the day (during the week) and week nights though, and it hasn't been busy. I'm sure when the luxury buildings go up it'll be busier. This is a great place to come if you want to relax or take a stroll by the water. I'll definitely be back for another walk soon.
