This office is the worst. They never pick up the phone and when you leave a message they never call you back. Sometimes the mailbox is full and you can't leave a message. You never see the main doctor and they always have the doors wide open so you don't have no privacy. And sometimes your in the office for hours even if it's for results. One of the absolute RUDEST offices and staff. Piss poor attitude from the start. I schedule an appt. She schedules me at 10am and tells me the Physician's Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will be 20-30 min. HUH?! Then why schedule me at 10am? Well, the PA/NP comes in at 9:30am and there are patients at 9:30 so she will be late. Again, why schedule us if you know you're already going to be late? Good grief. I ask for the person in charge of handling the insurance. She says "Fine" with an attitude and puts me on hold. I'm on hold for 4-5 min. I hang up and call back. She doesn't apologize. Just gives me more attitude. I tell her she's not having a good day and is giving me a bad attitude. Her response is "That's fine!!" What the heck are you thinking? THAT'S FINE?!! You obviously don't care about any patients and care for them. If that's the person who answers the phone then imagine everyone else in the office. Changed to a different doctor just to find my raisin speck is cancer in 2 places. 4 months later i had a total left mysectomy .If I had stayed I may not be alive today. Thank you for nothing. Oh and I was allergic to one of the meds I was given for my appendix surgery and I was red and itching on the insicion that they got mad at for me not taking it. After a few years with this clinic, my family and I had never even glimpsed the doctor. They lost our files twice, lost shot records three times, referred us to the incorrect eye specialist twice, tried to give me a second TB shot when I came in for the reading, tried to charge me a second time for a bill they had already cleared my check for, never EVER answered one of the 15-20 messages I'd left over the course of our time with them...and NEVER ONCE did they ever apologize for any of it. The result of a good doctor stained by extremely poor staff. They put you on "hold" (which must be Spanish for "hang up") and calling back to get in touch with someone only results in a busy signal. Not the friendliest of people nor polite either. I had a 9:00 am appointment. I arrived and checked in at 8:50 am, and didn't see the doctor until 11:20 am. What a joke. Dr. Tamhane is a very compassionate doctor, I've been under his care since 2006... He takes his time when he sees me in his office, explains medical issues that I have a question about and gives me the best referral when I need it. Same with his NP's. The staff is great and very helpful, big improvement from last year... I saw a new team at the front desk who are very caring and attentive. I've had the worse experience with this Dr. Office . I came in for my first physical and the way the procedure went was just horrible. When I scheduled my appointment for my physical I had asked the secretaries over the phone if I would need to fast in advance for lab work and they had told me no that it's fine if I eat, but when I showed up for my appointment the Nurse had told me no that I need to fast and so I made a complaint and I told her you need to have a meeting with your secretaries on what procedures to follow for certain exams. The same day they had told me that I need to get an HPV shot, but they don't carry the vaccine, so they had to refer me somewhere else. When referred to the Torrance Health Clinic because of my insurance, I had called to make sure they had told me they can't take me because i am insured, so I had to go back to my dr to get a new referral. They then referred me to a place in Pasadena, why would I go out of my way to get one shot ! , when distance became an issue they referred me to a clinic in Wilmington who was very helpful and told me they are sorry they can't take me because they don't carry the vaccine either but informed me that my primary has to be the one to administer the vaccine and that they can order the vaccine. When it came time to do the exam for the physical the dr didn't check anything, they just asked me if I had swelling or any pain. Shouldn't they be checking the patient and not asking ! The following day I came back for my lab work and thinking they were going to finish up my physical but nope skipped right through rushing me out of there. read more

My first time going to this clinic and I had an appointment at 10:40am and it seemed like so did 15 others. The office was small and with the covid going on I understand that some people were waiting outside the office, but why give appointments at or around the same time? I went to the receptionist window and she said can I help you with somewhat of an attitude, I told the receptionist that I had an appointment and she didn't say a word just practically threw the clipboard at me. I filled in my name and time my appointment was and that was it. No further instructions at all from her. Do I wait inside or outside what? Worse Doctor ever! I would suggest he is more like a Veterinarian but animals don't deserve such treatment either. He was assigned to care for my grandmother when she lived at Harbor Care Center in Torrance. He does not return calls. Does not communicate with family members regarding the care of his patients. Miss diagnosis his patients and I believe he ultimately allowed my grandmother to die a slow and painful death. Died of Arterial Thrombosis. There was ti he was out of the country on vacation but still answered my call and arranged for follow up. I refer all my friends and family members to Dr.Tamhane. He is one of the most popular doctors in the Southbay area and perhaps the busiest at the hospital he goes to. He follows up his patients even at the hospital when they get admitted. WORSE PRACTICE EVER, don't come here if you're expecting actual medical service. What's the point in scheduling appointments if they don't even honor it? I spoke with Sandra, one of the nurses there, she scheduled me for an appointment (honestly wished I had recorded the conversation) so I can get a referral for an ENT specialist but when I arrived at the time of my appointment I was informed that they weren't accepting walk ins anymore???? Maribelle, the nurse covering the front desk, said that there was a two hr wait and then the nurse practitioner (take note----NOT EVEN THE DOCTOR WHO ONLY COMES IN ON FRIDAYS) would be taking a lunch. I already came here before and met a with a nurse practitioner about the pain in my ear and asked for a referral specifically but all she did was give me a prescription for ibuprofen and I let that go. But when the pain persisted, I knew I had to get a specialist. And now when one of the nurses who told me I had to come in to get the referral tells me I would be guaranteed a referral, they couldn't even see me!!!!! So unprofessional. And yes, I'm still in pain. Thanks for absolutely nothing. I really wished Yelp had a negative stars system. If there was any way I had the power to close a practice down I would because no one should have to deal with this poor excuse of a business. read more

Horrible service! I was assigned to this doctor by my insurance because they're the closest to me. I injured my knee playing soccer in December, and got x-Rays and a brace given at the ER and was told that I needed to get an MRI done if it didn't get better which is the reason why I went to Dr. Tamhane's office. The day of my appointment, it took about 40 minutes to be let into a room. Once in the room, one of the nurse practitioners walked in while taking on the phone, she glanced my way, closed the door, and literally stayed on her cellphone right in front of me for about 10-13 minutes without saying a word to me. Okay, if you're going to stay on the phone the whole time, at least tell your patient that you'll be with them in a bit. Once she hung up, she checked my pulse and then asked me the reason for my visit. She didn't check my knee at least once. All she asked me was which knee I was having problems with and then she wrote the referral for the MRI. I asked her if she could make a note that it's an urgent case and she stated that she would. After that, she started talking about std's and that I should get a Pap smear done. Uhhhhhhh. Okay? She talked more about that than my knee. I was disappointed with their service but I got the referral, which is what I wanted. Two weeks later, I still hadn't received my appointed for my MRI in the mail so I called the office and they said that my insurance had approved the MRI for my old doctor rather than Dr. Tamhane. 2 more weeks pass by, I call the office back, get told that they faxed over the documents to my insurance but that they still hadn't changed my primary doctor to Tamhane. During this time, I developed a severe throat infection. My tonsils were swollen and I could barely drink water or swallow my own saliva without being in pain. I went back to dr.Tamhane's office and was seen by the same nurse practitioner. I told her about my problem, she checked my throat and her exact words were "yeah, it does look kind of red". After that, she wrote my prescription and told me I should be fine in a few days. When I went to pick up my prescription at the pharmacy, they didn't want to give it to me because they said the nurse didn't write out the directions of the prescription and how much I should be taking. I finally got my MRI approved and got it done on April 3rd. When I called Dr. Tamhane's office to get my results, the girl who works next to Maribel at the front desk is the one who answered. Every time I've spoken to her she sounds like she doesn't know what she's talking about. She put me on hold for about 10 minutes, hung up on me, so I called back, was put on hold for another 5 minutes and when she finally got back to me, she goes "They're referring you to an orthopedic." I asked her what the diagnoses was, her response was "I can't tell you that, all my co-worker said is that they're referring you to an ortho". I then requested to speak to her "co-worker" so she passed me to Maribel. Maribel then told me they couldn't give me the diagnoses over the phone so I made an appointment for a week later. I went to the office with my dad around 12:30 pm the same day that I called and I asked if I could have my diagnoses since I was in the office in person. Maribel told me no, that they stopped accepting patients after 12 pm. I finally got my results. It took me over two months to find out that I have a torn meniscus and ACL. and this was supposed to be filed as "urgent". I'm changing my doctor as soon as I get an appointment set with my orthopedic. Horrible horrible service. Don't waste your time or health here. They have no clue what they're doing. The place also needs some new paint and cleaning up. It's disgusting. They ended up referring me to an orthopedic that doesn't even cover me. WTH?!?!?! Now I'm currently waiting to get referred to another one. Hopefully they do their jobs right for once. I can't wait to change doctors, I'm sick of this. I've seen other patients at the office complain to them too so I know I'm not the only one experiencing horrible service. I'm not much to complain and I've never written a review on here before. This is the WORST doctor's office EVER!!!!!! I have never written a review on Yelp but I had to write one for this place. First of all the office is HORRIBLE! It is unclean and unsanitary. The waiting room is a little shoebox. The rooms are dusty with stains on the counters. The instruments they use a stuck in a drawer in opened packages. I went for a pap & the girl prepping the stuff had no gloves on & long acrylic nails. I had to wait over an hour to even see the Dr, who then took a phone call while he was reviewing my chart. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE! I wish I had of checked with Yelp before choosing them as my PCP. read more

Horrible staff ! Within the last month I've called twice asking to get a referral done for my pregnancy. So I can get a new doctor. The first time they said it could take up to a week and they'd call me. So I'm waiting. Mind the fact that the hospital they assigned is fifteen-twenty minutes away with no traffic. While st Mary's or long beach memorial is 10 minutes away. And I specifically asked for a close by hospital since I don't drive. And I never get a call back. so once again my insurance tells me I have to ask for to he referral. I'm 36 weeks pregnant now . The first time I asked I was 27 weeks. I've called and they told me they'd call me by 4 . I didn't received a phone call and so I called. The lady at the front desk said that marabell is off at two to call tomorrow. This happened twice continuously . I called right now and she put me on hold for 5 minutes and hung up. When I called her back she said her system was slow and to call back in an hour. This has got to be the worst Dr's office ever!! The Dr's and nurse practitioner are great but the ladies that work the front part of the office are just horrible!! They have attitude and talk about you like your not standing right in front of there face. We've been coming here for a few yrs now and hate it. I dread coming here its like pulling teeth. I took my sister for a regular check up here, and I believe 2 years since I last brought her here. we came to see Dr Tamhane and the staff told me he would not make it that Friday. We were honestly very upset, The staff kindly explained why he wouldn't make it that morning and introduced me to one of their NP. She was very friendly and attentive. Were still patiently waiting to see Dr Tamhane. Now about the staff, I'm not sure if were seeing the same people or talking about the same staff lol. Since our last visit 2 years ago they have improved tremendously . Everything is now electronic so there is no need to wait for the prescription, one of my sister's referrals were taking forever to be approved so I called the staff to see what was the hold up. They then explained the refferal was done and it was the insurance hold up. They were nice enough to give me the insurance number so I can find what is the hold up. They called me with any updates the receive. There was a wait, but I understand now that its not up to the staff for a refferal to get approved. Overall my sister and I had a great experience. I have never felt compelled to write a yelp review, but I feel this experience warrants one. I came in as a referral after being seen at the ER for what was was determined to be panic attacks. I called and left voice mails on two separate occasions and never received a call back for an appointment. I eventually got through several days later and was able to book an appointment. Wait time was reasonable. I never met the doctor and was only seen by a NP. They were unwilling to refill my anti-anxiety medication and referred me to a psychiatrist (not anyone in particular, just an Rx paper that said "refer to psychiatrist") which I felt was understandable. What made this a poor experience for me was the NP asking if I was religious or believed in God, to which I answered "No" hoping that would be the end of it. Unfortunately, she went on about how I could treat my depression and anxiety by going to church and finding God. I remained polite and thanked everyone for their time, but found this very off-putting (also illegal). So, I was essentially referred to Jesus. I'll be finding a psychiatrist in my area, but I felt this visit was a complete waste of my time and made me very uncomfortable. read more
