Best place to get inro Jiu Jitsu. All the instructors and students are awesome. Learn great skills along the way. 10/10

BEWARE: You will have an incredibly difficult time to cancel your membership. This merchant isn't good about returning calls or responding to emails. I called repeatedly in February 2024 to try to cancel and finally got a return call stating to email him. I immediately emailed him with no response. I have continued to get charges of $149 in March 2024, April 2024, and now May 2024. I have had to do chargebacks to my credit card. I have now cancelled my credit card and had to update all of my other providers due to this ongoing issue. Fortunately, I am dealing with a credit card provider, if this were my bank account I would probably be out of luck entirely. On a side note, our son found the Jiu Jitsu class to be very boring and the repeated lessons with nothing new made this too much of an expense to incur monthly. read more

I attended the Women's Self Defense class for 3 months. Comfortable, approachable environment, with very useful skills.

Tampa BJJ was fantastic, & I sincerely appreciate the instruction & training partners there! I train BJJ in N.Va & am a blue belt. In late March 2018, I was in Tampa visiting family, & got the urge to find a place to roll. I called a few BJJ places in Tampa area. One place wanted me to pay a $45 "mat fee" for 60 minutes of rolling-- geesh, & nope. Other places weren't responsive, or made things complicated. I was thrilled to get a quick call back from Tampa BJJ head instructor Ryan Deichert. Ryan & I chatted-- he asked me about my experience, brought up some smart safety issues (prohibited moves), & told me to stop by the next evening. I told Ryan I didn't bring my gi to Tampa, & he assured me some guys would be willing to roll no-gi after class. I inferred from our phone chat that Ryan ran a safe, challenging, knowledgeable and technique-driven BJJ school. I arrived the next evening, and was pleased to get a warm welcome. I was able to watch the last half of a class, and observed quality instruction on counters to the stack pass. As a visitor, I didn't know any of these guys, & was honestly a little worried that someone might want to beat up on "the new guy." But after being on the mat, I felt comfortable right away. I never once felt in any danger of my training partners going too rough or reckless, despite me getting caught in a variety of good submissions. I got to roll with a few purple belts and a blue belt, and had a blast! My training partners challenged me and tested me with a variety of positions, submissions, and counters. Tampa BJJ gave me a safe training environment. The focus was on technique, not being a meathead or ego-driven. The purple belt instructor that night [sorry, I forgot his name] even took time to walk me through an awesome setup for a strong, slick no-gi inverted triangle choke that he did to me. Tampa Jiu Jitsu has been a great experience for my family. My sons started training with Ryan then I decided to give it a try and it's been a blast, it's also one of the better workouts I've ever done. I think the best thing about Tampa Jiu Jitsu is the atmosphere, everyone is willing to take a take a few minutes to explain or teach a new technique, you feel very welcomed from the moment you step on the mat. I've taken other martial arts and in my opinion Jiu Jitsu is the most effective self-defense. It doesn't matter if the other person is bigger or stronger, because solid Jiu Jitsu will win out all the time. I can't say enough positive things about Ryan and his staff. As a veteran who participates in the program Ryan Deichert and his team of quality instructors have used specialize method of teaching Jiu Jitsu for veterans.
