The next visit I was very unhappy with the quality of the food. I decided to give it another chance which was the worst decision I have made. Firstly, the red-haired girl at the counter was the MOST rude person I have ever come across taking orders in a restaurant. She started giving out about the other staff and using the work f*ck this and that in front of me. When she finally stopped moaning to take my order she just simply said 'You right?' and halfway through decided to start writing my order, to which I ended up having to repeat the first half again for her. Then I asked for prawn crackers. I was asked for €2.00 which would be fine, except for the fact that I had just handed over €40+ for the rest of the food and all other Chinese restaurants would have thrown them in. This wouldn't have been an issue if that was their policy except for when I questioned it the red haired girl proceeded to tell me very hastily that she wasn't the boss. Got home to find that a) a soup was missing and b) the quality was rubbish. Too many other choices in town to be wasting time or money on this establishment if they are not going to worry about the horrible attitude of their staff treating paying customers so badly. Very badly let down.

In all honesty, it does pay to be polite and I am not even going to go into of how in business school we do have a saying that goes 'the customer is always right.' Now now, just saying is all. Lets just stop, back it up and just think about that one for a second, because hey, I just may have a point there u know; 'the customer is always right.' Now just think about that for a second and while you do, remember firstly; that high-paying customers are not ever for treating like shit, not so much as ever. And last but most certainly not least, second; they may just be absolutely, even most frightfully and precisely right from a certain and most professional point of view, about saying all that they say within saying. Thats word from someone who is learned in what they say and whom does know what they are talking about, honestly and enough said within that.

The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive (especially the manager Ming), they always recognize you (if you frequent more than once) and their positive attitude makes the place a fun and relaxed place to dine. I LOVE spicy food, so I usually opt for the a trio of pork, chicken and shrimp with egg fried rice with spicy szceuchan sauce to boot! Delish! Also, while many other similar restaurants would avoid putting too much shrimp in such a dish (as it is relatively expensive on their part) I am always impressed with this place as they don't scrimp of the shrimp! Their main courses are fairly substantial, so if you don't have a hearty appetite, perhaps skipping the starters would be ideal! That being said, the spring rolls are a must if you feel up to the challenge! Have often frequented the place on special occasions, e.g. birthdays, and the manager always brings out a free dessert for the VIP and the staff all sing happy birthday, which is a real treat, the cherry on top so to speak! Takeaway service is also an option, and there is a seating area available for those waiting to collect their order, with newspapers and magazines to read while you wait. There is also free Wifi, which is always a bonus!

As I drove through much of Ireland even the smallest of villages had at least one Chinese restaurant. There didn't seem to be any other ethnic restaurants apart from your occasional spotting of an Indian restaurant. So being the adventurous person that I am, I decided to try Emperor Palace. First of all, the manager Ming is a real delight. He made sure we were looked after from beginning to end. I really appreciated his hospitality. The other staff members were wonderful as well. We started with what is called lettuce wraps (in the US). I don't know what's is called on the menu but it's ground beef, spices, and cups of lettuce. It was delicious. For a main course we had a couple of sauteed lobsters, served on top of lo mein noodles. We had a side of asparagus. Everything was very good. Believe it or not, they make a delicious Irish coffee. I highly recommend it. Do stop by if in the Clonmel/Cashel area. Enjoy!
