WOW! WOW! WOW! This is the BEST restaurant we ate at in Ireland. We came here on a Friday night with another couple. Emanuel seated us right away; he is the perfect for the front of house. Our waitress was Marta and she did a great job. She made great suggestions and we were not disappointed. I had the risotto and it was the absolute BEST risotto I have ever eaten in my entire life!!!! My husband ordered two appetizers and the portions were huge! He had the quinoa salad and a special of the night which was smoked salmon with orzo. My friend ordered the mussels and chicken wings and he said both were delicious. My other friend ordered the green curry with chicken and she said it was absolutely amazing. We ordered two desserts - creme brûlée and brownie with honey ice cream (special for the night) and we were in dessert heaven. Hats off to the chef, Maura! Duck confit. So crispy on the outside and pull apart tender on the inside. It's ridiculous. I want it right now and it's 7 am. The mussels are to die for. Literally best mussels I have had. I could drink the garlicky broth through a straw. Seriously it's that damn good. The dips with bread are decent (garlic butter = yum) but it you're gonna go to corner stone opt for another one of their appetizers. They have a massive cocktail list--each about 9 euro. Came here again for another meal and its gained that little extra star. It was this time for date night and we couldn't have had a better night. We got delicious wine, chicken wings and steak & chips, the steak of which could not have been more perfectly rare. My partner went on and on about the chicken wings being the best ever so I'm giving that 5 star even just for that. The service was great, with a nice welcome from the host, and we weren't rushed to order or to get out at the end. Popped in here with a friend for some Sunday Grub in the New Year recently. Have to say the food was really excellent. I was feeling over meaty after the holidays of turkey and ham so went with the vegetarian option of wild mushroom, chesnut and brown bread nut loaf over spinach and sweet potatoes. Deliciously buttery sauce covering as well. The decor and lighting is very dark, so I imagine the place is more suited to dinner rather than a 2pm lunch. The service was great, if a little too on the ball. I was literally chewing my last mouthful when the plate was whisked away, so I felt a little rushed. The Cornstore is a more low key, fine dining experience in the middle of Limerick. The food was well prepared, of generous portions, and reasonably priced. We came for an early dinner and ordered from the early bird menu (3 courses @ €29). The starter, Tiger prawns, were simmered in a buttery sauce and delicious! For a main, I had the sirloin steak which was also pretty good. Many of the deserts looked fantastic, but I opted to pass as I was pretty full from the main. On the beverage side, the beer list is a bit lacking (coming from the US craft beer scene), but reasonable. I went for the Sazerac made with Bulleit Rye, which was well done and garnished with black cherries. Overall it was a positive dining experience that provided a nice atmosphere, good food, and reasonable prices. read more

Yet another reason why we opted to stay in Limerick an extra day: hidden gems like this restaurant! On a rainy Friday night at 7:30 we pressed our luck and showed up with no reservation, really hoping they could squeeze us in. Thankfully, the place is quite huge (covering 2 floors) and it was no problem to accommodate us. We were seated right by the prep station on the 2nd floor, which is probably where they seat the reservation-less folks, but I didn't mind at all. I enjoyed peering into the kitchen to see the foods being prepped. Plus, if I needed anything, there were tons of waitstaff standing right there. Speaking of the waitstaff, I saw someone else complained about not having a single waiter. That struck me as odd at first, but when I realized that their system seems to be everyone pitching in to do whatever, I was rather impressed. I even mentioned it to Jeff. We started with the pea soup (a special), which tasted just like fresh peas and was perfect. Pea soup certainly doesn't need ham to be delicious. We also got their hot shrimp starter -- also excellent. Jeff is a huge fan of black pudding, so he opted for the chicken and black pudding on top of ratatouille. It seemed very wintry to me, but he loved it. I had the halibut special, which came with a light lemon caper sauce and wilted spinach and broccoli rabe as well as what i think was a sort of colcannon, but instead of using spinach, fresh parsley and dill were mixed into the mashed potatoes. Those were sooo good! There is a nice selection of Irish beers, although I opted for wine. There aren't a ton available by the glass, but enough to satisfy most palates. There are also a number of interesting cocktails, nothing too ridiculous, though. It's halfway between dressy and casual there. You'd be fine in jeans, but there will be people wearing suit jackets and looking spiffy as well. Cornstore will always have a special place in my heart, I got a stonewall cider here, and it was one of the best cider's I've had in my life. Cornstore was a cool joint, that had great seafood and steak options. I had a filet and it was great. Some parts were noticeably salty, but I was very happy with my medium well steak. The fries were good... but I should have gotten the mashed potatoes. They looked way better than the fries. I was here with a big group and the wait staff was incredibly patient and very prompt. It was served over a bed of greens along with a squash mash (I believe) and potatoes that were out of this world. The presentation was lovely and I savored every bite. A colleague of mine said I must try Cornstone on my trip to our Limerick plant and after experiencing it I've decided my beautiful wife has to come (From USA) and try this place! From a very nondescript street view comes a restaurant that is much larger and beautiful than expected. Helen was our waitress and was perfectly matched to serve us our Chateubriand (each) . After eating this Solo I would recommend most stick to sharing as it is A LOT of food! The Filet was amazing, the Mushrroms may have been the best I've had in my 42yrs on earth! Do yourself a favor and don't miss out on a fantastic dinner here. On our way out I believe every staff member including the cooks in the kitchen we passed thanked us for stopping by. I really liked this place from the atmosphere to the food it was a great experience. I had a salad, butternut squash tortellini with garlic bread and a lovely wine. The bread was so fresh as warm and the sauce on the tortellini tasted so good I couldn't stop eating it. I enjoyed every single bite of my meal. The food was only surpassed by the service. The Cornstore in Limerick is a gem of a restaurant. The menu is changed depending on the season. The décor in the restaurant is modern with perhaps a 20's twist with a comfy semi-formal atmosphere. I've not used this myself, but there's a full cocktail bar at the front of the restaurant so if you want a cocktail, you can turn up and enjoy it before or after your meal. As a heads up, watch out for the menu that is wrapped around the napkin in front of you, so you can start looking through it as soon as your seated. My personal favourite is the Winter menu, in particular the Pork Belly (so good I've looked up the recipe and made it a number of times myself at home!). The Lemon Sorbet is fantastic, but you really need to like a truly bitter sorbet! I've been to this restaurant with my wife a number of times and so far and I've yet to be disappointed with any of the dishes on the menu! read more

This is our 3rd visit to this restaurant, as our first two visits were great. The third visit did not disappoint. We started off in the bar, for a cocktail prior to dinner. The gullible bartender was outstanding, and put up with our stupid jokes. He had a great insight into their whiskeys and was eager to share his knowledge which was great appreciated. Their cocktail menu is unique and fun, and taste wonderful. He was attentive and engaging, and we enjoyed our time with him at the bar. We wish we could remember his name, but he wanted us to note that he was gullible. We were seated upstairs across from the kitchen which was perfect for us, as we enjoy watching the kitchen. This kitchen is well run and well organized and they are a well oiled machine. They were fun to watch, but holy crap they are busy! One of the chefs is torching creme brûlée one minute and next he is cooking a steak. We had a variety of starters - the smoked duck, foie gras, and the carpaccio - all were wonderful and well done, with excellent presentation. For the mains, we had salmon, sea bass and the rib eye - all well executed and cooked to perfection. For desert we had the cheese plate, berry crumble and sticky toffee. The sticky toffee was the best we have had in the city and the best we have had in a long time We tried some desert wines suggested by the manager and they were perfect accompaniments to the deserts. Our waiter and all of the staff we interacted with was wonderful. Bottom line, make a reservation and we highly suggest this restaurant. Stop at the bar before or after dinner, you won't regret it. We had a wonderful dinner here, topped off by two amazing desserts. Let me talk about those first. We had a flourless chocolate cake and a ginger-stem creme brulee. A perfect way to end our evening. Fantastic place! It was recommended by the hotel we were at and completely lived up to it. I had an aged ribeye that was said to be 10oz but was probably closer to 14 and my wife got the Duck Confit. Loved loved this place. Great atmosphere. It has a fairly hip vibe and is bustling without being too noisy. They managed to be kid friendly and hip... Hard to do but no problem. There's a kids menu which is helpful. We were very happy with the grown up food, wide selection with good basics like steak frites but also more adventurous and vegetarian selections. I had turbot which was fabulous. The floor manager was a delight and interacted with our kids in such a cool and fun way. Go there if you are in Limerick. read more

My husband and I went to Ireland on a week tour of the country. Our evening in Limerick landed on our first wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, host Jason greeted us very warmly and led us to our candle-lit table, a bottle of champagne on ice prepared. The meal was the most amazing food we ate during the whole trip. I'm very picky about my fillets - most restaurants overcook a "rare" request. This steak was absolutely perfect. My husband's salmon was equally delicious. Most, if not all, of the ingredients are locally sourced. For dessert, FRESH baked chocolate chip cookies with ice cream. The entire staff was very attentive, fun, and friendly.
