Why I stopped buying and why you should consider a new place if you enjoy IPAs. Short version: Purchased 3 kegs online and got them delivered. The IPA was 3 months old per label. I tried it and it was dull and old (it is a regular on tap for about a year). Called hoping to get a fresher one. Was told "nope" and I should be grateful as the other one was 4 months old. I asked if there were ANY IPAs (not just the brand I bought) available that was fresh and a different guy (manager?) picks up and tells me no, all their IPAs in kegs are 5 to 6 months old. Either he wanted to get me off the phone and not try to make it right or he was telling the truth. Either way, I've found a new distributor. Thousands spent supporting the local, gone in a phone call. Any yes, contacted them via email and waited a week. No response. Old stale kegs, bad poor customer service. Bye. read more

This place is great. Been coming here for years. Great selection, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. What inspired me to leave this review today though is Chris. OMG what a sweet guy! I went in to buy a slushie and he told me about all of the new flavors and gave me his personal recommendations. He offered me samples and joked around with me as I taste tested. When I apologized that I had no cash for a tip he said he doesn't work for tips. He was just happy to help me. He shook my hand and said he was happy to meet me. And wished me a great day. I was determined though and found $1.50 in coins and two free drink tokens for the Alliance Fire Hall in my purse to offer him. LOL I hope to run into him there to thank him again. GREAT STAFF! Coming from out of town being that my girlfriend grew up in Bethlehem and family still lives there. This is the go to beer store every time I come to town. They have a great selection of beers domestic and import all types bottles, cans I was blown away by the selection, all the beer stores in LA do not have this much selection. It was like walking into beer heaven. They had every type of Coors Light that is offered in America. Also growing up in Virginia, I always look for this Baltimore beer National Bohemian and YES THEY DID!!! Great selection of beer both cold or warm and they sell kegs. It's my go to spot to stock up on Yuengling since we still can't get it in Michigan. They have a great selection of local beers, domestic and imports. I've been pleasantly surprised to find some of my favorite Michigan beers here. Downside is no 6 packs here, you have to go to a 6 pack shop for that. The staff are always friendly and willing to help you locate something or load your car up. read more

It was sort of an acid (beer) flashback stepping in Tanczos after so many years. When I walked in, immediately I was rocketed back to my senior year at Lehigh. Here was my thought process: "Wow, I'm 21 now. I can just get beer whenever I want!" ***Fanfare, applause, trumpets**** So it turns out even back then I was a snob. The pale yellow, piss water, blue rocky mountain shyte wasn't going to cut it. Tanczos to the rescue. You can find your Founders, Bells, Stone, Troegs, Victory, Green Flash here along with notable imports as well. The prices are pretty decent consider their hefty selection. So this time when I entered, after that brief deja vu moment, I walked in and grabbed a case of Founders Porter. I lost a bet with my girlfriend and this was how I was to pay up. Pennsylvania's booze situation leaves a lot to be desired. Despite a culture that revels in booze of all sorts (yeah, those coal region Irish), the actual laws are second only to Utah in terms of restrictions. Things have changed a bit in the last decade, but still, if you've lived in a state with 24-7 service at every supermarket, it's still a challenging drinking environment. But one thing PA has that nobody else matches is the "beer distributer" culture. Yes, you can only buy beer at beer stores and you can only buy beer by the case, but the end result is a proliferation of beer superstores. If you can only do one thing, you do it WELL, and Tanczos was always the model for what PA's laws created. The selection is remarkable, and because of the case restriction, you get a great per-bottle price on even the fancy stuff. When I lived in Massachusetts, I'd still load up here on every trip home because nobody in Boston could match the case prices for all the Northeast's best beers. Yuengling. Weyerbacher. Troegs. Stoudts. Sam Adams (brewed in Wescosville at the time, not Boston). The original Rolling Rock. A-Treat soft drinks. I loved the service, the convenience, the great keg selection, and later in life, the lack of trouble when I showed up with a new MA license. Nowadays, I do like the freedom of unlimited six-pack purchases, but in the end I spend a lot more money for the same beer. I miss Tanczos. read more

I'm like a kid in a candy store in this place. Quick embarrassing story: A couple years ago I was walking out with 2 cases & clearly wasn't paying enough attention to notice the rails off to both sides when exiting. I promptly turned right into one of them & SMASH! Yes, I'm the jackass (hopefully not the only one) that didn't get 3 steps out the door before dropping an entire case of fairly pricey brews onto the ground. It was bad enough that they cleaned up after me, but when I went back in to get a replacement case they absolutely insisted I not pay for it. I protested, but they wouldn't have any of it. So, I'll forever have allegiance to this place, which really isn't much of a burden given the absolutely insane number of cool beers they have. Really, I have to be dragged out of there normally after wandering around endlessly & checking out everything they have... and I usually can't stand shopping or wasting time on it. read more

Tanczo's is my go-to beer retailer. I buy kegs for my home keg system, and often stock up here because of the nice keg selection. Unlike uber-retailer Shangy's, Tanczo's is a retailer, meaning they buy their beers from Shangy's AND others, so you can actually get multiple types of beers in kegs. (Shangy's does not carry Sam Adams, Troegs, and others, which are must-haves in my book.) Tanczo's will also special order kegs if requested; Shangy's does not. While the keg list isn't exhaustive, it's quite nice, with a good emphasis on regional craft brewers. This is a smaller place, with good service. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable; the owner, Mark, is well informed and knows his beers. I've bought kegs of something new off of their recommendations, and they haven't steered me wrong yet. Worth the trip for you keg buyers (feel free to call first), and a nice selection of cases for you bottle drinkers. read more

This is the only distributor that I have found north of Allentown that carries cases of Victory Lager. Fairly easy to to find in six packs in a few places, but I've never been able to locate cases for whatever reason, except at Tanczos. The staff are friendly and prompt, although perhaps not the most knowledgeable. But I make the 40 mile trek here to pick up a few cases about once a month. Their prices are reasonable and their selection is probably the best in the region after Shangy's. I have never gotten a bad, or skunked case here. I did happen to see some outdated Stone 12 packs once, but the next time I came back they were gone, so it seems like Tanczos is fairly vigilant on keeping fresh cases, even as far the exports go. Definitely my goto spot for finding those rare IPA's or Helles Lagers. read more

Seeing as this place is so convenient to me, I tend to shop here whenever I'm in the market for a case. The prices are reasonable and the selection of seasonals is fantastic. The staff is friendly and it's easy to get in and out of as they have automatic doors. Pretty important when you're loaded up with a case of beer! read more

Second time going here both times had a bad experience, they don't have prices marked on all there products, today they had a sign with a sale price on an item but that wasn't the item on sale , I will say they have a great selection but I rather go to a place with a smaller selection and not feel like I'm getting overcharged at the register, buyer beware watch your total at the register . read more

I'd give this place 5 stars but, there are so many beers without prices. The price tags are there but not one that matches the beer you want. It's frustrating and I don't wanna be that guy bringing up 4 different 4 packs asking the price. Maybe put the stickers on the beer before you put it out? What do I know? I've been buying my beer mostly here for the last decade. I moved to the west side of the valley and realized that I've been taking this store for granted. The stores I have near me don't accept credit cards (?!?) and don't have nearly the selection here. The reason I'm not giving them a 5 star review is mainly because of their owner's political activity as president of the Malt Beverages Distributors Association. They are the PA beer distributors' political group that spearheaded the fight against liquor privatization in PA. If you want privatization, and to be able to buy beer in a grocery store, then this guy is ground zero for stopping it. Getting past that... positives: Tanczos has a much better selection than other stores in the valley. Their prices are always fair, and they often have decent clearance sales. They dedicate one whole room to the domestics and another room to all the craft and import beers. They also usually have both bottles and cans of almost everything. Shangy's in Emmaus does have a better high-end selection, but it's not by that much, and their prices are definitely higher than Tanczos too. In fact one cider was not stocked at Shangy's, but Tanczos had it. So many other beer stores in the valley are pathetic, not even bothering to stock Guiness or other seemingly common beer staples. Overall I think they have the right combination of price and selection that can't be beat in the central Lehigh Valley. negatives: Their good selection often means that some of the craft and import beers are near expiration. I bought a case and realized the date said it is only best for another month. The other issue is that they don't accept AmEx. read more

My favorite beer distro in the LV. They have a huge selection, including a ton of beers from local areas in PA and upstate NY. They also carry the "regulars" but if you are looking for something besides Miller Lite and Yuengling, you'll want to come here and browse. If you're lucky, a local brewery will be having a tasting in the store and you can try some beer for free! The workers are also really friendly. read more
