After a long awaited visit to Weyerbacher, I think I have a new favorite PA Brewery. Good to know, especially if you're driving - you'll be hard pressed to find a low ABV beer at Weyerbacher. Drink responsibly. Thankfully, they offer different sizes, from tasters to pints. Great to know, especially if you love good beer - Weyerbacher has a varied selection and they're all superior. I've been chasing good Belgian beer since my trip to Belgium two years ago, but nothing stateside has ever compared. Weyerbacher is, arguably, some of the best beer in PA, if not the entire country. Yep - I said it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Their brewery location is huge, with indoor and outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food is BYO, and there was an onsite food truck the day we visited. [[HIGHLIGHT]]On the Saturday afternoon we visited, there was a man with a guitar who was very pleasant to listen to. I'm not one for loud music, but I found his playlist and musicality added to the experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender was super kind and personable, and there is plentiful parking onsite. The space is accessible, and there is merch, beer to go, and other fun things for sale - besides the rotating 20 or so beers on tap. I've always loved Weyerbacher's pumpkin beer & it was great to enjoy it at the taproom during the fall. They have a really nice indoor space (a band was setting up on a Saturday late afternoon) and cool outdoor space with real fire pits. I had a flight of some of their classics - Merry monks, quad, blithering idiot and Tiny. They were quite boozy (many of them were 11% alcohol!) but good. I love that you can mix and match take home beers rather than committing to just one. The food truck has some good options to enjoy a meal or snack with your drinks - nothing crazy but solid fried bar food. We had the fried pickles and sweet potato fries which I would recommend. Weyerbacher is one of the most established breweries in the region. When I was passing through on I-78, I knew I needed to stop and check it out. Weyerbacher is a semi-regional brewery. That means that they do not serve just the immediate Easton, PA area, but rather that their distribution reaches a multi-state area, just not the entire US. This can have its challenges because the public will continue buying Bud and Coors Light, or they might just go to their local taproom. People have been less inclined to travel an hour or two to go to Weyerbacher. However, I think Weyerbacher offers an experience you can't get anywhere else. Established back in the 90's, you can tell the difference with the beers. They are not the newer NE IPA's that you may be used to, although they have slowly integrated some into the tap list. Weyerbacher beers tend to be loosely based upon traditional German and Belgian beers, and the brewery has slowly made those recipes their own. They tend to be dark, creamy, and have a spice to them. Nevertheless, I think some work needs to get done in order to modernize their beers and make them more competitive. When I got there, the bartender was very helpful. He tended to get me to try the newer ones instead of the long-standing ones on the tap list. After I tried them, I realized why. The newer ones are more interesting. A tour was available, too, which I really enjoyed. The tour was a lot more in-depth than ones at different breweries. They had live music and a food-truck, too. read more

Came by on a late Saturday afternoon and they were just starting to get crowded but we were still able to find two seats by the bar. There were some outdoor tables and indoor tables also available. Parking is a little bit limited, and as soon as we walked up we were greeted by the scents of fresh barbecue that you can purchase right out front and bring in if you'd like. Have IDs ready, as I believe they card everyone first thing. They have a pretty wide variety and sized list worth traveling out here for. With sours, stouts, IPAs, there's something for everyone. Flights are 4 beers per flight, and there were enough that peaked our interest that we ordered two flights, to try as many as we could. As far as food, it's limited to bar snacks inside. Like, hummus and a bag of pretzels type of thing- nothing particularly filling, aside from the barbecue out front, which does limit meals for vegetarians. I almost dropped a star for this, but they're a brewery who does their beer well. One things that's very nice about them is they do a lot of unique specialty beers that cannot be categorized very easily. I also really appreciate how they manage to sneak a high alcohol content into a majority of their beers- most of the time, going unnoticed by taste. I lived in Easton for 22 years and never thought to try Weyerbacher untily last visit home. Well, I definitely made a mistake. Weyerbacher is one of my new favorite breweries. The vibe inside is chill, yet busy and bustling. If you like sour beers, this is definitely somewhere to try. I was surprised to find that they had two sours on tap and one sold in cans Togo. The Togo cans was the Rico Guave, which was definitely my favorite. There is different food trucks there on different nights as well. read more

I'm not avid enough about beer to say that I'd go out of my way to come here, but this was a welcome respite from our trip outside Philly that appeared from a quick search on Yelp for breweries nearby. The place is spacious and has ample parking, which already makes it a happy plus in my book. And the pricing - pretty awesome. $1.75 for many of the 4 oz pours, $3.50 for some 12 oz, and $5 for some 16 oz. It makes you feel better about sampling, and it makes you feel like it's happy hour in the middle of the day. The space is pretty no-frills too - you're here to enjoy the various interesting-looking beers populating their chalkboard menus, it might even be a stopover to something else, and you get a view of the giant metallic vessels containing beer in the making and stacked cases of final product waiting to be moved. read more

I realize that by saying what I'm about to say most people will think I'm crazy. I'm a little bummed Weyerbacher does not offer many beers below 8 percent. That's right. The reason being that all their beers are super tasty and I just want to try them all. That's pretty hard to do when most of them are insanely alcoholic, so two little tasters can hit you harder than a few full pints. Anyway, I've always liked Weyerbacher's stuff so I figured I should drop in to the actual brewery. I think they have done away with free samples as other reviews have mentioned, but that's okay. Their tasters are affordable ($2 - $4) and will usually be more than enough. I saw a lot of stuff on tap that is not bottled, so you'll have to come here for anything exclusive. The Sunday Molé stout was outstanding, and one of the best spicy beers I've had. Honorable mention goes to the 22nd anniversary ale, which tasted heavily (but not cloyingly) of vanilla. The tap room is not huge and it seems like it gets fairly crowded on weekends. My suggestion is to get there early. Weyerbacher is arguably one of the best Pennsylvania breweries, and if you want to try some of their more unique brews then a trip to this brewery should be in order. read more

I feel that I should start off every review of a brewery with a disclaimer: I am not a beer drinker. I am a beer sniffer. Since going gluten free (Celiac) several years ago, I have had to limit my alcohol consumption to the hard stuff. Absolutely not complaining...I love the liquor. However, I sure am jealous of Steve who gets to drink so many wonderful and creative craft beers while I sniff, then watch. Sooooo...... My reviews are based on HIS taste buds, beerwise, and MY feel for the place and anything they have to offer ME, a non beer drinker. Weyerbacher has a BIG space and filled it up this past Friday night (February 23, 2018) with a wonderfully entertaining trio of musicians. A vendor offered bison hot dogs that smelled yummy. A well lighted area, clean and open with a great staff and fun patrons. I really liked it. Steve sampled the Berry Monk but decide to stick with his favorite for a growler fill: Merry Monks 9.3% ABV Belgian Style Tripel. He also could not turn down the 750 ml bottle of Riserva 10% ABV, American Wild Ale fermented on red raspberries. He is familiar with Weyerbacher beer but this is our first visit to the brewery. If we were not driving another four hours home to CT, he would have stayed and enjoyed a flight. read more

What a great brewery! I went here with my mom before picking my sister up from college. The bartender was very friendly explaining​ all the beers to here patiently (I normally have to do this lol). Beware these are all BIG beers (high alcohol %) and j would recommend having a DD or taking Uber. The bar is small and is in the middle of their warehouse giving it a Industrial feel. They do not have food, but they have some snacks that are all made by local businesses and farms. I will be back! read more

Came here on a whim when we were in the area for a show later that night. There was some type of jazz trio performing so it was pretty packed, but it was also about 5pm on a Friday night so we didn't expect it to be empty. We each ordered beers and after only about 10 minutes a table did open up and we managed to snag seats. They have a pretty big, open area which I really like in a brewery. I ordered the Blithering Idiot Barleywine and I cannot express how much I loved it. I think that's all I talked about for the rest of the night. My date had one of the IPAs but wasn't crazy about it. I wish I had bought a ton of their beers to bring home, or even that we had more time to hang out before we left for the show because I loved it that much. (Sidenote, I was able to find the Blithering Idiot Barleywine in bottles here in NY, YESSS!!!) I certainly hope to return to try some of their other stuff! read more

My husband and I stopped here on our way to the poconos. I had purchased a Groupon prior to visiting - which was a great deal. We got 2 flights of beer and 2 32 oz growlers with the deal. The flight offered was of their flagship beers - Merry Monks, Autumnfest, Blasphemy &a Last Chance IPA. They were all delicious, we've previously had them. After we finished our initial flights, we decided to make our own. (Their menu was very detailed with descriptions of the beers, prices etc. I thought this was a nice touch especially for those who maybe are not familiar with beer.) We decided to go with Molé Sunday Stout, Mellow Monks, Easton & brown, and Line St. All of these brews were delicious. I liked the Mellow Monks best; it tasted just like its older, higher abv brother Merry Monks but with about half the alcohol content. We ended up filling one of the growlers with Mellow Monks. The atmosphere could be a bit loud as there were fork lifts moving pallets but we didn't mind. A lot of the brewery employees sat near us after work to have a beer which I thought was cool. Highly recommend checking out this place. read more

We made the trip up from FL to visit the family in the PA/NJ area and the trip wouldn't have been complete without a trip to Weyerbachers. The parental units live in Easton so we had to make the tour of the brewery part of our journey. We were not disappointed in the tour or the beers. The only downside was the merchandise selection. It was hard to shop, find what we wanted in standard sizes and had to ask the bartenders to double check for sizes which they inevitably didn't have for us. There's an area of merchandise on the right of the door when you walk in and another area inside but that is marked off as an employee only area?!? Confusing and no one around to assist. The highlight was the tour...interesting and informative tour guide, it was only our group and we had a great time. If you have the time sign up for the tour or ask about it when you get there. We went on a Saturday and took the 12:30 tour but there's also a 4:30 tour. read more

My 100th review!!! Cue the trumpets and release the doves. So I live in Portland, OR. It is also known as Beervana. You are probably wondering what I am doing going to a brewery across the country? I love all the beer that the Pacific Northwest has to offer, but saddened by the fact that we cannot get Weyerbacher out there. This is one of my favorite American breweries and it is located in Pennsylvania, not one of my favorite states. That isn't really relevant. I just wanted to type it though. Makes me feel better. So this trip to Weyerbacher with a friend and fellow beer enthusiast has been in the works for years. When I knew I was going back east for a few days, this was one of the first things I planned on doing. I'm glad because it was well worth the hour drive and I plan on going back the next time I'm back for a visit. We went for the 12:30 tour. Tours are held on Saturday's and they last roughly 15-20 minutes. Before the tour starts you are free to sample everything they have to offer. The staff is super friendly and will let you try as much or as little as you want. The woman who was pouring for us (I didn't get her name) actually came up to us and asked if we wanted to sample anything. We figured we would go for the tour and sample after. Well, we sampled before and after and that was Ok by us. The tour was very informative. Some history on Weyerbacher and the brewing process was explained thoroughly. Questions were asked and answered and then it was back up front for the remainder of the sampling before it was time to purchase the beer we wanted. Pennsylvania law states that if you buy beer you can't get anything smaller than a case. A case of a single type of beer is $29. If you want to mix and match, beers can be anywhere from 10 cents additional up to $1.75 additional for the smaller batch beers. We ended up doing a mix and match and the case set us back around $38 which my friend and I split. Hopefully I can get a few of those in my suitcase to take back to Oregon with me. This place is definitely worthy of a 5 star review. Weyerbacher is a 5 star operation even though they don't distribute out to Oregon. I still have a reason to come back east, so I won't hold it against them. read more

I made a stop here with a friend last summer while in Easton for the day. Just because, well, it's a brewery. And while it's a brewery in my home state, I was not all that familiar with it. When you walk in to Weyerbacher Brewing Company, the bar/tap room is just part of the brewery/warehouse. It's simple but a nice place to relax. We arrived early, just after they had opened on a weekday which meant we had the place to ourselves and the guy behind the bar happily answered our questions and poured our beers with a smile. They don't offer traditional flights however they do sell small pours (maybe 3 or 4 ounces) for those looking to sample. I think between my friend and I we sampled almost everything they had on tap. I tried the Wit and Autumn Fest and thought they were good. I thoroughly enjoyed the Imperial Pumpkin Ale and the Merry Monks. While I am not a big fan of IPAs, I did also try the Last Chance IPA. And even though I didn't really like it that much, I did buy a shirt with the Last Chance logo on it (a paw print made from hops). My friend, on the other hand, is way more into IPAs and this was her favorite. I was happy to learn that a portion of sales from Last Chance goes to local animal shelters and rescues. Weyerbacher sells pints to be enjoyed on the premises as well as growlers and bottles to go. Overall it's not an all that exciting place, just your average tap room. It kind of falls between 3 and 4 starts for me, though, because I would return given the opportunity. read more

Stopped by pretty much at opening time on a Saturday. It was already somewhat crowded, but not terrible. Inside was roomy but the bar was small. We ordered a couple of flights (we wanted to try them all!) and the bartender was very patient with us while we fiddled with which to order and which to omit. The beers are VERY high ABV, so they do enforce limits on how many of what you can order, but we weren't staying long, so it didn't matter to us. We took our flights outside to play cornhole, but I felt as if it was a catch 22. The day was gorgeous so we wanted to be outside, but there was live music inside which was really cool. They also had a lot of signs of events and things they do which would be cool if we were locals. Overall, worth a stop. read more

Weyerbacher is the halfway point on my trip home to visit the family in Pennsylvania- which means it is super convenient to drop in and get a growler filled on the way. The growlers are quite a bit more expensive than if you were to get them filled in New Jersey, presumably due to the state liquor tax difference, but the do offer an impressive selection of their beers on draft, and even more in bottles - you can even mix and match your own case with whatever types of bottles you like. The real strength of this brewery is their tour. I've gone on their tour twice now. Each time I've had a different tour guide and got new insight into the way the company brews their beers. I think my favorite part of the tour was when the guide mentioned that the pig farm they donate their spent grain to actually donates a hog back to be roasted at their summer picnic. The tour guides are super personable, my only conundrum is whether you're supposed to tip the tour guide? Four stars... Would be 5 if their growler fills weren't so overpriced. My last one was nearly $30 for five beers. Of which the same beer I could get a four pack of bottles in NJ for $14. read more

LOVED this small and unassuming brewery. I have liked Weyerbacher since I tried the Heresy this year' which has become one of my favorite beers. The hubs and I stopped here on our way to New Jersey from CLE. Got to sample around eight beers for free (excuse me while I belch contentedly and take a nap), take home a case, and get suckered into purchasing a t-shirt. Good times. We did not go on the tour; tours of breweries don't really thrill me. It's more about just going to see the place where the beer is made that is exciting. I don't really need to be escorted around. One thing to note: small bottles are sold by the case ONLY and price is dependent upon the types of beers you select. There's a system for figuring this out, so don't get nervous.
