It's been probably 6/7 years since I'd been there and the improvements are noticeable. The clubhouse is completely different, and absolutely stunning. They were very selective and removed trees around it giving it a beautiful view out onto the course. The interior is modern and offers a nice/modern atmosphere so you can at least understand where the increased prices have gone. The course was in impressive condition, and I'd put up against any course around. It is, extremely challenging, but with the challenge comes an absolutely unique experience that you may never forget. We didn't try much food, but, we did of course get cheese curds. They were awesome. I was disappointed to see they went away from their previous cheese curds, which, were my favorite of every where I've ever been, but they were still delicious. Often times when I find myself in beautiful places it's hard to comprehend how we can trade morning rays of sunshine through oaks and pines for glass windows and concrete. All of which I find myself asking every time I play here. The work the current owners have done has made that even more so the case. It's beautiful, from the first hole to the last and worth a shot if you're willing to lose some balls and some bucks.

I'd like to shout out one of that managers, during our play, 3 other golfers with carts zigzagged out of play through several of our holes, backtracking, going through, and even crossed over 18 right in front of me as I was ready to tee off with no more than a glance. This was more just annoying and dangerous for them, so we didn't let it ruin our game! After, we just brought it to the attention of the manager, who was very understanding and reiterated that was not tolerated and would be dealt with. We never expected anything, just wanted to let them know and she returned to us with a certificate for another round of golf. She was incredibly nice and super helpful! Will most definitely return!

So I reloaded my bag and played this week. I continue to be impressed by the great conditions, well-tended greens and the friendly staff. They sell great apparel in the pro shop - really nice technical gear. We walked the course - they have very nice push carts with locking wheels.

A couple…read morehighlights: - several holes had amazing views of the river valley so much so that the couple we were golfing worh took lots of photos - the greens were challenging but in a fun way as lots of slope and very well maintained. - the course had a really relaxed vibe and fellow golfers were very friendly. - the staff was super friendly from the person washing carts who got us set up to the pro shop to the beverage cart server to the restaurant/bar where we had lunch after our round. Everyone had a smile and that definitely contributed to a fantastic atmosphere. The course had lots of terrain and mature trees but wasn't too punishing for novice golfers (90-110 scores) who only play a couple rounds per summer typically but are working to play more often. I would highly recommend making the drive during the summer and can only imagine the views in early fall with the river valley leaves. Finally it looks like the clubhouse / restaurant is set up to host events and wedding receptions with amazing views. We will be back as the views, course, and staff made the easy 1 hour drive from Eagan well worth it.

A couple of switchbacks on the road bring you to a ridge overlooking the Mississippi River. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great shape. The forward tees were around 4800 yards which is a bit more on the shorter side but the many narrow fairways created plenty of challenges. Staff was friendly. Carts did not have GPS. The starter let us go off early since we were ready and the foursome before us wasn't there yet. Appreciated that. We played in just over 4 hours. The forward tees are short coming in at less than 4800 yards. Tee boxes were a bit ragged. Fairways and greens were in good shape. Sand was not fluffy and more like light dirt. Not a lot of water on the course. Lots of trees and fairly narrow fairways. There were a couple of holes that were kind of goofy, and S-shaped hole, one with a tiny pond right next to the green that should have probably been a trap instead, and one that was using a temp green which severely shortened what should have been a par 5. Overall, it was a good course for the price.
