Those people with other types of disabilities can gain confidence and experience success as well. Lastly, all will gain a sense of peace riding on a trail ride enjoying the outdoors. I also went to a rodeo there recently and had such a great time ! It was exciting watching the riders on the bulls and the barrel races were amazing. Those riders have some serious riding skills ! Food and beverages were an added pleasure. So be sure and take the time to let them know in the online questionnaire how you are with horses and riding. I'm a confident rider and got a great horse for me where my husband isn't as confident rider and he was paired with a sweet easy going horse, Faye. Actually all the horses are sweet and wonderful. We did a one hour trail ride. The trail was fun - not too challenging and we even got to stop by a beautiful creek so the horses could take a drink. It's absolutely magical & no better way to see the beauty of this region. Now the horses: They are all beautiful, very healthy and thus happy. You can get to know them on the Painted Bar Stables website! Many are rescued and have been revitalized by being in this wonderful place. I can't wait to return.

The website is clear, informative and easy to navigate. The owner, Erika, responded to our ride request personally and promptly. The response was clear and gave us ride time options, which was much appreciated. The booking process was made very easy and stress free. Then we got to the stables! The property is expansive and beautiful. Rolling Hills, gorgeous pastures, shady forest with rivers cutting through it. The horses are phenomenal! It's clear from the first moment that the animals are adored! Exceptionally well taken care of, pampered, and of course it reflects in their tempers! They love their humans and could not have been sweeter to us! Have you ever met a horse who's a hugger? I did today and his name is Sweet Tea! The check-in process was smooth and easy. Even the Gift Shop has some really cute and memorable selections, which is rare! We were a party of 6, 3 adults and 3 kids. Some experienced, some real novices. Our guides, Randall and Zoe were a pleasure from the beginning to end. Zoe - thank you for matching every rider to their horse thoughtfully and perfectly! This young lady must have a sixth sense about human/horse personalities because, as the absolutely delightful owner Erika was describing their wonderful horses, it was sometimes hard to keep track of whether she was talking about the horse or the rider . Randall and Zoe - our guides were respectful, patient, informative, fun, and engaging. They made this experience unforgettable for everyone in the group! Erika stopped by as we were leaving and chatted with us for a while. This wonderful woman is pure joy and a force of nature! She truly loves her horses, staff and customers alike! Reunion after 20 years …read more.. In 2003, my wife and I spent a week with Mary and had a great time with the horses. We went through all kinds of terrain, streams, and ponds, for hours every day. It never became boring, or too much - we both were not used to work extended time on horses - but it was pure fun, and we only were sad when it ended. The whole experience was professional and layed back at the same time. The year after, my wife fell off a pony and broke her back - she stopped riding completely. I kept riding for a few more years, but time became scarce when we had a child. This year, I was on a business trip to Utica, when I realized that this was the place. I found Mary and gave her a call. The following day we took a ride through the woods. It felt like home, though I had not sat on horseback for quite some years. The horse, Ponyboy, was listening wonderfully, and I felt confident again. Thank you, Mary!

I had an opportunity to take Mary's 2 day course this past week and can't find enough great things to say about it! She knows horses better than anyone I have ever met. I had the most enjoyable and magical two days with Mary and Pozo. She told me she could teach anyone to ride and she is not kidding! Of course I was nervous to get back on a horse after so many years but Mary took me step by step and I regained my confidence quickly. The team at Mountain Rose communicated effectively with us about moving our ride to the afternoon to miss the rain moving in. We had the most incredible afternoon. From the moment we arrived at the farm, we were transported into something of a movie.
