Name change to Salon 212. I met Vanessa. My hair was almost to my waist. I'm in my seventies but only had gray around my face, more noticeable when I pulled my hair back. I wanted light blond highlights and I did not want to color all of my hair. I did not want chunks of blond. No idea about length or style. If you want to be interrogated like you are in a police station this is the place for you! I had Lisa and from the moment she started washing my hair she barraged me with personal questions which carried on into the haircut. "Are you married? Do you have kids? Where do you work? What does your husband do? Do you live in Saco?" and much more. I don't mind conversation during a haircut but this was over the top, I've never experienced anything like this, so intrusive. I finally told her I really don't like to speak about my personal life to people I don't know well. She told me that a cop comes in here and talks about his affairs. Immediately I knew who she was talking about as one cop in the area is a notorious womanizer. She made me feel like I was the one who was weird because I had boundaries unlike her and people who enjoy talking about their affairs in public. It was crazy. I'd really prefer to not be asked questions constantly and for the stylist to just concentrate on cutting my hair. I left with such a yucky feeling and a mediocre haircut. I won't be back. read more

I moved from New York and was having a heck of a time finding somewhere to get my haircut. I found them on Yelp and was able to get an appointment the next afternoon. I have very thick hair with a lot of natural curl and cow licks. The last cut I received was disaster and my hair was choppy and uneven. It is not easy to cut or style. Lisa took such great care of me, and cut my A-line Bob exactly how it should be cut, taking care to correct all the mistakes made by the last person who chopped on it. I cannot sing her praises enough. She was super friendly and a great stylist. I hope that she'll be my new go-to-gal! The price was great and she took her time cutting and styling. I turned 30 this year, and as most of you can understand, it hit hard. So naturally, I had a 30 life crisis and put Splat hot pink hair dye into my hair. It wasn't a good time for me haha. After 4 months and 4 applications of Splat, I decided it was time to stop torturing my hair and get to a salon. I showed up at Tanglez at 9am on a Friday morning with Diane as my stylist. When I say I didn't leave the salon until after 6, I am in no way exaggerating!!! My hair was a mess. The splat dye was impossible to get out but Diane wasn't letting me walk out of there unhappy. She patiently tried one thing, then another, then back to the first, one toner, another one, washing and rinsing and washing and rinsing, cutting, drying and straightening. She was sweet, understanding, accommodating, and amazing. And from noon until 5 she had other clients as well. She never missed a beat. This salon is cute, stylish, homey, affordable, and all the stylists are knowledgeable and friendly. If you're looking for your place, this is it!! It was time for a new look. I was tired of my dried out long locks getting zipped in my jacket or falling into my face. I knew I wanted a pixie cut but being new to the area, I had no clue where to go. I scoured through Yelp for local salons and read reviews. The Tanglez hair salon was close and the reviews good. So sight unseen and not knowing any of the hair stylist, I trusted my gut. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results. Laurie was my hair stylist and she immediately made me feel very welcomed. I told her my "hair story" that the last time my hair was cut was two years and that I've had a pixie cut before and had a photo to show her on my smartphone but...oh no! My phone had died! No worries! Without batting an eyelash, Laurie whipped out her smartphone and we found a perfect pixie cut for me. Before cutting off my long hair she asked me "are you sure?" I was dead sure. She cut off a single lock of hair as a souvenir and away she went! Like a "Fairy Scizzorhands" she turned me into an adorable pixie! Every one is very pleasant and so is the salon, comfortable, warm and clean (and it's winter). Plenty of off street parking, too! Finally a salon worth visiting in this area! Tanglez is an adorable shop with a prime location right on the corner with ample parking and easy access. The interior is spotless and fresh, and you are greeted with big smiles upon entering. This was not my first visit, and definitely will not be my last. They recently had a grand opening ceremony and people came out in droves to support these women in their new venture. Diane gave me an expertly textured, slightly angled bob with blunt bangs and left my hair looking phenomenal. My mom swears by Kathy's talent and Taylor hooks it up with a fantastic gel mani that lasts for what feels like forever. This is a full service salon that won't try to abduct your bank account. The women are talented and friendly, they'll offer you something to drink and make you feel right at home while helping you look your best. What more could you ask for? read more

Not a great fan. i should have been more articulate with things I wanted. somethings did go well and somethings didn't. Staff(I shouldn't probably be telling about everybody else in there but the my stylist) is "extremly" helpful and its my first time there. Ok, what went well? - My appointment was scheduled within two days - hair cut was super quick - A meeting went a bit longer and I was late for a bit but informed them ahead I'll be late (and she was nice, I think) - a basic cut, not great suggestions. What didn't? - full haircut's been charged although I was never given blowdry. - the talk, while having a hair cut, (its not abusive or anything but I kinda hurt somewhere deep) . DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to get a terrible haircut with stylists who have awful attitudes. I came in here to get a hair cut, and the hairdresser (I think her name was Shelley but I'm not sure because she never even introduced herself to me) cut it 4 inches shorter than I asked her to, meaning she cut my hair to shoulder length instead of chest length when my hair was originally down to my butt. I love my long hair, so I was devastated with how short she cut it. When I left she told me she thought she should've taken more off because it was still "so long." Parts of it are also shorter than others, so just bad in general. I had some color at the ends of my hair which I loved and she made fun of and told me it was good she was cutting it off. Not only all this, but she left in the middle of cutting my hair multiple times to answer the phone which I thought was extremely rude. Meanwhile, her and the other 2 stylists (another woman and a man) where bad mouthing many of their clients and even just people who called the salon to ask questions in front of me, to the point where the other woman would stand really close on one side of me so that she and Shelley could gossip over my head. It was a terrible experience, my worst haircut ever, and I guarantee I will never visit this salon again in my life and will tell everyone I know to never go here. I am traveling from out of state and called in and was able to get a same day appointment with Laurie. Upon arriving Laurie was very welcoming and made me feel like I had made a very wise choice. Nothing like offering a 5 star review unrelated to hair service but bear with me. Walked into Tanglez on a Friday afternoon to see if I could get a hair cut. The friendly woman at the counter (who turned out to be one of the owners told me that they were booked solid) and I was one of a long line of people who had called or walked in that she had to turn away. She was not kidding. I know this because I asked if I could wait and see if there were any no shows. She said that would be fine and proceeded to ask if I wanted coffee or water. She then showed me to a lovely waiting away, provided the salon wifi access code and said I was welcome to wait as long as I wished. I had a lot of work to do so I popped open my computer and got busy. While I was there I can't recall the number of times people called or walked into see if they could have hair services. She had to turn them all away. There is a reason. During my nearly three hours at the salon I observed an incredible cadre of professionals who provided excellent service and shared their talents with lots and lots of happy customers. I honestly felt rather envious as I watched the care and skill with which the stylists treated their customers. In the end, I did not get a haircut and given that I live out of town I probably won't be back. I do wish I had a salon like this in my home town. It is worth a LONG drive! read more

After getting a bad perm from another salon, I called Tanglez a few weeks ago on a Thursday and asked if there was anything they could do. They offered to take a look that same afternoon, so I showed up without an appointment and met Laurie. She was AWESOME. She looked over my hair, explained what had gone wrong and why it looked like a Brillo pad, and even fit me in between appointments. She washed my hair, gave it a better shape that I could live with and not cry over, and introduced me to Moroccan oil (miracle oil). She even said to give it 3 days and come back if I wasn't happy with it, but I felt much better after she worked with it! I've been on a search for a good stylist for a long time, but I will DEFINITELY be going back to Tanglez. The place is clean and very nicely set up and the stylists are professional and really know what they're doing. read more
