My appointment was with Jamie. She listened to my concerns and was able to deliver. The color came out perfect! I am so happy with the results! Serenity did my wash and styling and she did a wonderful job. The salon is bright and airy, the staff was friendly and engaging. I am happy to have found Tulu and my new home salon. I read a few reviews on Yelp that commented on the cost. I will say that these opinions are certainly subjective. I found the cost to be very reasonable - especially with a Master Colorist. I brought my 12-year-old daughter in for a full foil service after receiving an estimated price of $300-$350. Midway through the appointment--more than three hours in, with most of her hair already foiled and processing--I was told it would be "a little more work and cost more." That description did not indicate that the appointment would run several hours longer than scheduled or that the final price would end up close to double the original estimate. By the time this was mentioned, the service was already too far along to stop. The appointment ended up lasting more than six hours. Although the salon's atmosphere was visually nice, the experience did not feel comfortable. My daughter became visibly distressed because of how roughly her hair was being handled. I asked several times for the stylist to be gentler with her. She was upset and teary at different points, which made the environment feel tense rather than relaxing. When we checked out, the total was significantly higher than expected based on the original estimate. I left a tip because I felt pressured in the moment, not yet realizing the full extent of the situation. After we left, an additional charge appeared on my card that I had not been informed of or authorized, which was very concerning. The next morning, after my daughter washed her hair at home, the condition of her hair was extremely alarming. Without the heat styling from the salon, her hair was dry, tangled, frizzy, and difficult to comb, with noticeable breakage in multiple sections. I've attached photos taken that morning to show what her hair looked like after a normal wash. To better understand what happened, we consulted a licensed stylist at another salon later that day. She confirmed that my daughter's hair showed signs of chemical over-processing and recommended restorative treatments and products, resulting in additional unexpected expenses. I contacted Tulu afterward to explain the situation and request a resolution, but the responses were dismissive and no refund was offered. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning, and I hope this review helps others make the decision that is best for them.

Even from our first consultation, we exchanged contact information and before my first appointment had time for me to send pictures from Pinterest of what I wanted my dyed hair to look like. Not only that, but she then did her own looking online to find similar ideas and photos to send to me to really verify that she was certain about the specific look I was going for. You can feel that they really CARE about how your look turns out here, which is a nice feeling - instilled from the first moment I walked in and was immediately offered a drink while I waited on a comfortable couch for my appointment to start. (their shop is SO CUTE.) When it came to actually getting the hair dyed and trimmed, again the process was very communicative and all about MY input on what I wanted, which was great. Natalie also is a joy to talk to and kept me entertained with a string of friendly conversation the whole way through. Price-wise, I have had my hair dyed at a fair amount of places and this was definitely the cheapest, by at least $30-$40 dollars, yet I had not a single complaint with my hair and have been so incredibly happy with how the dyeing turned out.
