I can only speak to the setting and the wines as we only came and stayed for tastings and as it was the first of the day, we didn't want to miss out. After now having been to 4, this was our second favorite after Te Motu. Tantalus is completely different from Te Motu but no less appealing. They have the most beautiful setting and have worked hard to make it elegant and comfortable. It is spectacular. To us? The prettiest and most thoughtfully arranged and designed of all that we visited. It is simply stunning inside and out. The wine is also delicious and by far the best value for money, out of all the vineyards, when it comes to the tastings. This is a special vineyard indeed. The staff are first rate and this estate is definitely on to a winning combination.

I loved this winery. So many to choose from but do make a stop here. We started with a tasting red and white and was explained in great detail. There's a restaurant as well the food looked amazing but with so many wineries to visit Jay O. and I didn't stay long. Downstairs they have their brewery which also serves food. We sat inside as all outdoor seating was taken but inside was cool and had a great atmosphere. We had a flight of all their beers and ordered their truffle Parmesan fries which came recommended by our tour guide. Man sooooooo good!!!!! I wish we could've tried more of their food options but had to head over to other wineries. We went to about 5 that day in Waiheke and this one was my favorite!

Not only are their wines wonderful, but their on-site restaurant also serves delicious food! Coming from the Bay Area, I have some relatively elevated winery standards, and Tantalus certainly delivered. Such attentive service all around too!

I visited this BEAUTIFUL winery in January with friends. The decor of this building is stunning! The outside seating is gorgeous! It helped that the weather was perfect too !! We tried some samplings & decided on what we liked best. I loved the Rose !! We then ordered full glasses of our favorites and appetizers , the Tantalus olive oil & bread and the garlic truffle & herb fries which were so good! The dinner menu looked good but we didn't stay because we were already going somewhere else , but I would definitely return for dinner & for the wine !!

We visited Waiheke on our honeymoon and stayed overnight, and our Airbnb host recommended this vineyard as well as Mudbrick, so we visited both.

The vineyard has a great view of the grapes, the rough road with lustrous trees to take pictures. At the end of the road this very quaint restaurant was so beautiful. Rustic feeling yet serene when you look around. The staff were very nice. The wine was excellent. Agnes was our attendant, she was nice but not too attentive. We have to looked for her to give our orders. Waited for so long. We tasted their Red snapper so divinely tasteful. The fish was cooked to perfection. The sauce was amazing . Mouthwatering. We got their freshly baked focaccia with olive oil roasted garlic and balsamic vinegar so good. The best Their house salad was excellent. I loved the way all the leafy vegetables weren't cut by a knife. It looked like peeled by hands. So fresh and crunchy when you bite. The wine was good. We got 3 different wine my choice the Shiraz. Even the wait was long I still give them 5 for the view and excellent cuisine. Kudos to the chef.

I did tiny sips and wasn't ingesting anymore liquids down, only tasting them. It's a nice vineyard. Since I had so much to tastes by the last stop. I was feeling pretty mellow and chilled. I just sat under the protection of the shading on the patio and watched everyone else continue their tastings. My friend was still going strong. I was out. I spent the rest of the wine tour hour taking in the vineyard estate.

All you need to know about the wine is that it was worth that effort. The winery is situated in a hollow (American for small valley) and housed in a Quonset hut. We enjoyed our tasting on a shaded outdoor patio. Our hosts were friendly, which in New Zealand is basically assumed. Obsidian is perhaps the most remote of the Onetangi wineries, which made it the perfect place to start our day. We spent the rest of the day working our way back toward the main road - stopping at Casita Miro and Te Motu - before catching the bus back on Onetangi Rd. back to Oneroa and the ferry.

I had never thought of Waiheke as a weekend break let alone holiday destination. We stayed at the Cross Trees Chalet, conveniently located in the property adjacent to the Te Whau Estate. After two weeks of windy, rainy and cold weather, we were blessed to have clear, still weather on this jaunt. Arriving at Te Whau, we were stunned at the view. The restaurant is located atop a hill, and looks down at its vineyard. Across the small inlet, one can see the Kennedy Point Ferry terminal. And what a marvellous view made all the more spectacular by the fading azure blue skies and the sun painting the skyline above Auckland City a burnished gold. Just spectacular. We started with the entree of Seared Kingfish and my wife had scallops. I can't really say much other than superb. For my main, I had Gnocchi wrapped in aubergine while my wife had the lamb. Again, both dishes were just superb. For dessert, I had a cheddar cheese with a glass of Semillon. My wife had the sticky date pudding. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to get the cheese platter because I just wanted more. The sticky date pudding was the best I have ever eaten in the world. The flat white (coffee) she had with it was the best flat white she'd ever had. And she can drink coffee! ;-) This has been the best dining experience I have had in a long time. The service was great. Tony and Moira have really set the bar high with their care and attention to detail. It's easy to see why they have done very well with awards over the years. But don't take my word for it, try it yourself. You won't be disappointed.
